Because the other

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Harry Potter Roleplay 7
Because the other...

Because the other one is getting kind of long, even with the pages.

Also, TNÖ and Mary, I'm sorry if I got a little testy over on the other thread. It's not really your fault that the Hogwarts characters have got left behind a little - we have to keep playing them ourselves. I just have to find a way to bring us back.

Okay, then? Continue, please.

This is the 10th thread, not the 11!

That took less than a minute! Hi, Admin!

The 'meeting' at an end, Draco led the students out of the kitchen. Wolfbar followed, sullenly, leaving Bellatrix and the Dark Lord alone.

A moment after the door swung shut, Bellatrix asked, "What's the real plan?"

The Dark Lord smiled. "First off we get the Horcrux- once the Ministry figures out that I'm back Potter will be looking for it..."

"The last attempt at hiding them didn't go very well," Bellatrix pointed out.

He shrugged. "Would you mind carrying it? It's quite small."

"Would I mind?" She almost laughed. "Do you really need to ask?"

"Well, no," he murmured. "Not really."

"And then?"

"We'll recruit some people, not an army, enough to hold this place against a force of aurors. Get the Dementors on our side again, too. Maybe break some people out of Death Eaters, people who had been in before, long enough for their aging patterns to be stopped or slowed- if indeed that is what happened." He inclined his head slightly in her direction.

"What about them?" she asked, gesturing towards the door. "Belinda and Oliver?"

"Belinda... She won't be a problem, I think, once she gets over her, ah..."

"Blind terror?" Bellatrix suggested dryly.

"Yes. Oliver, on the other hand..." The Dark Lord shook his head. "I dunno. He won't run- he's too afraid to run- but... I'd say kill him if it weren't for Belinda..." He sighed, staring at her.

"We could always just lock him in a dungeon somewhere," she pointed out.

"But they always end up escaping," he said, frowning. "Always."

"True. I doubt Belinda would take kindly to us Imperiusing her friend... We could try alternate means of convincing him. Ways that didn't involve Dark magic." Bellatrix glanced up at him, a slight, mocking smile on her face.

"Like...?"

"Being nice?" she shrugged. "Pulverizing his belief that we are nothing but arrogant, cold-hearted, murders?"

The Dark Lord merely raised his eyebrows.

"It would be a lie on your part of course, but you're good at lying," she continued, a strange flicker passing swiftly over her face as she said it.

"Are we talking about you or the boy, now?" he asked softly. His only reply was a long, sad stare.

((I will post from Hogwarts to appease the people posting as students.))

Scorpius Malfoy waited anxiously for the post. He hadn't heard from his mum and dad in over a week, a record for Draco and the fawning Pansy. Is something wrong? he wondered.

His friend Carlisle Crabbe elbowed him, gesturing to the head table. "Cut it out, Crabbe," he muttered. The eleven-year-old's nerves were strained, and he wasn't polite to his cronies at the best of times.

Harry Potter was standing at the Headmaster's podium, looking like he was all that. He cleared his throat and began speaking. Scorpius' sneer became more pronounced with his every word.

"Some of you may have heard that there was a bit of commotion regarding certain Dark wizards and the like." No, really? "I'd like to reassure everyone that while all may not be well, you are safest here at Hogwarts." That's what old Albus Dumbledore said, wasn't it? Look where that got him. "Some students have vanished under mysterious circumstances, but I assure you that this is all being sorted out as we speak." Liar. "As long as everyone remains calm and focuses on theor studies, I'm sure that no more incidents will occur." Don't you wish.

Then Potter's face darkened. "Do not think, though, that the world is safe and secure. There are many people out there who would go to incredible lengths to hurt you and give themselves more power. I urge each and every one of you to be true to yourselves and do what you think to be right." He seemed to be staring particularly at the Slytherin table, and Scorpius felt his eyes piercing into his skull.

Just the the owls swooped in, bearing letters. He scanned the ceiling hopefully. Where was Desparado? Just as everyone else was opening their Daily Prophets and reading letters and he'd nearly despaired, in flew his golden-brown owl, looking a bit haggard. He pulled the letter off of his owl's leg.

Scorpius: Your father has disappeared and something has happened. I have reason to believe that Hogwarts is unsafe for you and will be coming immediately to pick you up. -Mum

Scorpius felt his mouth go dry.

Didn't Crabbe die in the last book?

A few hours later Scorpius was walking next to his mother, shoulders hunched. Neither of them spoke; his mother had explained the events of the past week between half-sobs while they were on the train.

Scorpius found himself mulling over Potter's speech, and wondering if his father had somehow gotten mixed up in whatever it was that Bellatrix was doing. He'd heard from his father that she was unhinged, dangerous, violent, not at all affectionate towards her nephew. Then again, his father had gone missing inside the Ministry, and Scorpius had a difficult time believing that Bellatrix had managed to sneak into the Ministry Atrium, kidnap a high-ranking Ministry official, and then vanish unnoticed.

Mother and son let themselves into the mansion and meandered into the living room, where they sat in glum silence. The quiet was shattered, however, when green flame flared suddenly in the grate, and Pansy sat upright with a cry. Draco's head appeared in the fire.

"Draco!" she shrieked, and flew forward to land on her knees before the fire. "Are you alright? What happened?"

"I'm fine," he said hastily. "I can't tell you what's happened, but everything will be ok. I don't have much time, though."

"Did- did someone kidnap you? Attack you? Where are you?"

"No, and no, I was... It was an emergency, or I would have contacted you before..." He trailed off. "I'm with Bellatrix."

"What?!" Pansy jerked forward violently at this revelation.

"It's ok, it'll be alright, but you mustn't tell anyone. And- is that Scorpius?" the head moved, trying to see around Pansy.

"Hi, dad," Scorpius said in a small voice.

"Why isn't he in school?" Draco asked.

"Well, I thought maybe..."

Draco's head swayed violently back and forth. "Get him back in school. He'll be safest there... I've got to go. I love you both."

"But-"

"I'll see you soon," he said, and the head vanished.

@Mary W.- Well, I humbly disagree with your humble opinion, because my humble opinion is that this roleplay is confusing, and has been since roleplay number eight. Also, I would like to humbly point out that this is the tenth roleplay, not the eleventh.

((I thought it was Goyle that died? Maybe not. Oh well.

@ the humble Emily: I stand (humbly) corrected, it is indeed the tenth and not the eleventh. And of course another RP is fine, and it seems to be coming along quite well. I thought it might get a bit confusing to have two going on at once, but time shall tell. Yes? -MW the relatively humble))

Wolfbar walked into a room to find Draco drawing his head out of the fireplace. Wolfbar was still having trouble finding his way around the manor, and had gotten lost on the way to the bathroom.

"What are you doing?" Wolfbar asked the kneeling man, a tone of accusation in his voice.

"What?" Draco's fair head jerked up. "I'm... nothing! I was checking the fireplace for... for... you know..."

"Who were you trying to contact?" Wolfbar asked. If Draco was doing something he wasn't supposed to be, it would make Wolfbar look a bit better.

"No one," snapped Draco, now composed. "What are you talking about, you idiot boy?"

"It's just that normally people don't go sticking their heads into fireplaces unless they're using the Flu Network..." Wolfbar muttered.

Suddenly Draco seemed older and more tired. "You wouldn't understand," he said quietly. "I'm just trying to prevent what happened to me as a child from happening to my son. I'm not contacting anyone to tell them about this or trying to escape or anything... I'd be much obliged if you wouldn't tell my aunt," he added.

Feeling awkward, Wolfbar nodded stiffly. "Right, then."
