Because the other

Because the other...

Because the other one is getting kind of long, even with the pages.

Also, TNÖ and Mary, I'm sorry if I got a little testy over on the other thread. It's not really your fault that the Hogwarts characters have got left behind a little - we have to keep playing them ourselves. I just have to find a way to bring us back.

Okay, then? Continue, please.

I'm not sure what happened to Holly... I guess I'l just continue what I wrote.

"What did you see?" asked Holly, sounding worried. Rose was in tears, so Rose supposed that that showed she had seen something horrible.

"I really don't want to talk  about it." Rose replied.

"Please! If you don't tell anyone, not even me, then we can't do anything about it!"

"It's too late to do anything. Too dangerous. I'm just an 11-year-olde girl, and... Never mind."

"Why can't you tell me? What harm will it do?"

"I just don't want to think about what I saw! Okay? Now - "

"Please. I won't stop asking until you tell."

"Fine. I'll try to explain, but you probably won't believe me. Here, this is what I saw. Most of the missing students were in Hogsmeade, talking happily. They'd obviously left of their own free will."

"Well that's good. But what do you mean 'most of the missing students'? What about the rest?'

"Three of the Slytherin's are missing. Belinda, Oliver, and Drusilla. Drusilla was dead."

"And the others?" Holly asked in a tiny voice, covering her mouth with her hand.

"They were... with someone. 3 people actually."

"Who?"

"You don't want to know."

"Yes I do!"

"If it's really so important to you, I will. One was a stranger. One was Bellatrix Lestrange. The other was... the other was He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named."

"WHAT?! BUT HE'S DEAD!" Holly shouted so loudly Rose was sure someone would hear. They hadn't told the room that they wanted this to be a secret, after all...

"So was Bellatrix. That's what everyone thought, anyway." Then they heard footsteps coming towards the door.

Someone please continue this. Holly? Where are you?

((Ugh. I am sooooooo sorry, Ima! :( I've been on vacation since the 2nd! Sorry...))

Holly heard the footsteps and whispered, "Oh no! Here, follow me!" She disappeared behind a huge cabinet, and Rose followed her.
Rose wiped her tears in the dark. "What are we going to do? We're trapped!" More tears came.
Holly said as loud as she dared, "Room of Requirement, we want no one to hear or see us. Please!"
They waited in bated breath hoping it worked.
People came in, but Holly didn't recognize them, so she quickly grabbed Rose's hand and they fled through the door.
She was trying to be brave for Rose, for they were now in this together.
Rose stifled a hiccup. "Come on!" Holly urged.
They slipped through the door just as the people turned around. Everyone stared at each other for a moment, then Holly tugged at Rose's hand and they ran with all their might.
(sorry, again...)

Bellatrix sat uneasily in an armchair, her knees jackknifed up under her chin, staring out the window. Rain pelted against the glass, obscuring the overgrown lawn outside. The Dark Lord had left a few hours ago, to retrieve the Horcrux from its hiding place; and she was worried. She tried to talk herself out of it- tell herself that he would be fine, that no one knew he was back anyway- but the quiet, nagging voice in the back of her mind insisted on reminding her that he had died an awful lot for being well-nigh immortal.

So she worried, same as always. Another habit that had always gotten on his nerves; but she couldn't quite kick the fears and doubts that always lingered in her thoughts.

She was interrupted, however, when the door opened and Belinda walked in, a wary look in her eyes. The girl started when she saw Bellatrix curled in the chair.

"Oh..." she said, beginning to back away. "I'm sorry, I didn't... I can leave."

"No, it's ok," the Death Eater replied calmly. "I'd be glad of the company, to be honest. If you don't mind."

"Well, alright..." Belinda trailed off, frowning. "Can we talk?"

"Of course," Bellatrix said with a shrug. She dropped her feet to the floor and leaned forward slightly.

"About... Dru. I-" Belinda broke off as a wave of tears spilled down her face.

Bellatrix hesitated for a pause, then strode over to the girl. She draped an arm over Belinda's shoulders and pulled her into an awkward, one armed hug. "Hey, hey, it'll be alright. Ssh, ssh..." Over Belinda's head she stared up at the ceiling, at a loss for what to say but thankful for the distraction nonetheless.

Belinda sobbed into the Death Eater's shoulder.

((Okay... and that's good because I'm having a bit of trouble brainstorming for Wolfbar, so I'll do Scorpius for now.

@ Ima- Four, actually- Draco was there too.))

"Who's dead?" asked Scorpius, striding into the room.

The two girls started.

"Nothing," said Rose. "I mean... no one. We're... rehearsing for a play."

"Which is why the Room of Requirement is filled with Divination equipment..." Scorpius arched an eyebrow.

Holly threw him an angry look. "Is this any of your business?"

"I was pacing outside of the Room, wondering what was happening to my father," Scorpius said. "I heard you say that you saw him in a crystal ball, and seeing as this is the Room of Requirement, I figured I might... you know." He shrugged.

He glared at the redheaded girl. A Weasley daughter, he knew. His father hated those Weasleys, blood traitors that they were... Scorpius suddenly felt lonely for his father.

"You don't need to stick your nose into everything," said Holly, a bit snidely.

Scorpius faltered. "I'm just trying to help my dad!"

As if it wasn't enough for Rose to be more scared and confused than she'd ever been in her life, she was now speechless as well. If Scorpius was helping his father, that would be really bad... but it was his father, what was he supposed to do? What was she supposed to say?!!! The harder she tried to sort her thoughts into something understandable, the more futile this attempt seemed. She had no idea what to do, so she did the only thing she thought she could. She left the Room Of Requirement without a word.

"This is ridiculous!" Scorpius exclaimed. "Get back here! You too!" he added as the other girl followed her friend.

They ignored him, walking swiftly out of the room without a word.

Scorpius wasn't used to being turned down or ignored, or really rejection of any sort. Come to that, he just plain wasn't used to any unpleasant emotion, least of all sadness.

He slumped down on the floor and began to cry.

//Wolfbar//

Wolfbar, Oliver, and Draco were congregating in Wolfbar's room, as though by unspoken consensus. There was an awkward silence before Oliver spoke.

"Do you of you know where he is?"

Draco nodded. "Getting the Horcrux. The one Potter and Dumbledore didn't know about. Beyond that..." He shrugged.

"And after that?" asked Wolfbar dully, though he already knew the answer.

"They'll begin gathering an army," Draco said, the umpteenth time the words had been spoken in the Lestrange manor that week. "Begin exterminating key Ministry officials, subtly, make them seem accidental or natural... Eventually Potter's lot will find out what's going on, but if all goes we-..." He coughed, "according to plan, it'll be too late by that point. And then everyone'll be in danger again... and there'll be another war."

Draco sighed, thinking of Pansy and Scorpius. "Sometimes I wonder why..." He trailed off, leaving an uncomfortable feeling in the atmosphere.

((The Malfoys have rotten luck, don't they?))

Belinda had been sobbing heavily for about ten minutes, Bellatrix patting her shoulder awkwardly, when the door swung open and the Dark Lord leaned into the room.

He raised his eyebrows upon seeing Belinda; Bellatrix grimaced at him, half-shrugged, and raised her eyebrows in turn. The Dark Lord gave a quick, curt nod and vanished from the doorway. Belinda continued to sob for a while before her tears petered out and she leaned, shuddering, against the Death Eater.

"Sorry," she whispered shakily.

"Hey," Bellatrix said, steering her towards the door. "Everyone cries."

"Bet you don't," Belinda replied, fighting the sudden exhaustion that always follows a crying jag.

"Oh," Bellatrix laughed humorlessly. "Wouldn't that be nice." She glanced at Belinda. "I cry. Come on," she added.

The Death Eater half-carried Belinda to her room; Belinda curled up in the centre of the bed and fell asleep without even bothering to take off her shoes. Bellatrix closed the door softly and set off down the hall to her own room.

She opened the door, saw the Dark Lord seated comfortably on her bed, and shrieked.

"Steady," he said, sounding amused rather than annoyed. "Jumpy?"

"'Scuse me if I'm surprised to see you here," she said rather nastily. Then, sullenly, "Did you get it?"

"Of course," he replied smoothly, rising.

"May I ask why you decided to ambush me in my room, my lord?" Bellatrix asked, looking up at him.

The Dark Lord smiled, very slightly. "Eh. Mostly for the look on your face when you walked in. You also have a very comfortable bed."

He tapped her wrist lightly with one finger and swept out of the room. For the second time in as many days, Bellatrix gaped open-mouthed after him.
