Since I can't find Grace's, let's start again. This will be the official first thread for the book club discussion! Here are some questions to get us started.
1. What do you think of the book so far? What is good about it? What don't you like?
2. Who is your favorite character so far?
3. If you, like me, haven't read it before, where do you think Shannon Hale is going with the plot? In other words, what do you think will happen next?
4. What are some themes you can find from reading the first few chapters?

I love the book so far! It's really well written! The only thing I didn't like was the part about the fly. I think my favorite character (at this point in the story) is Marda. I've already read the book, so I can't comment about the plot. One theme so far could be... You never know what might happen to you? I'm not very good at that kind of thing...

This book is REALLY good! I love Shannon Hale!!:) All her plots are very creative and entertaining. YAY Princess Academy!!

I think the book is really good so far. I like that the book is fast to get into it. It is really good. It makes you feel like you are Miri. I could feel the tingling in my palms. The thing that I didn'tlike about it, hmmm. I don't know.
I have no favorite character, though I like Miri and peder and Gentri and Britta. Ooh, actually, my favorite character is Knut. He seems nice.
I think that miri will either get to wear the dress but the prince will pick someone else. Or, she does not wear the dress and the prince picks her.
I don't really understand what you mean by "themes".
I can't wait until I can readt the ninth and tenth chapter tomarrow!!!!!!!!

As I said before, fav characters so far: Miri, Peder, and... (soon to be someone else!!) Gerti's nice, but as I also said before, a little too weak so far. Love the book, always have, always will.
You know I was thinking, I bet one of the reasons I love this book so much, is (they may not sound right at first, but let me continue) the way the other girls treat Miri. Because I know EXACTLY how she feels. And it's nice to know someone else feels the way I do. Now, I wish more than anything that it wasn't that way for her, but it makes me feel a little better. :)
So, scene in the closet. Anyone else think it's horrifying?? Mean Olana... :(

Re: scene in the closet. Yeah, but somehow I find it more acceptable in a fantasy book. If this was more realistic, I would be more horrified, but you know, in fairy tale type things people are always being shut in closets.
Re: the way the girls treat Miri. I know what you mean. I think Shannon Hale might've done that on purpose, because that kind of thing is sadly a problem in real life too, and it helps girls relate to Miri more. It's sad, but that's kind of good writing, don't you think?

yes, Olana's mean. And her rules don't make sense. She's not at all like anyone i've met. If I could have finished it in less than three hours. Now, i'm goign to go read the chapters for today. But maybe i should wait a while to read the chapters because then i'll be longing to read more. Maybe just one chapte right now. Remember, ONE. I DON'T THINK I'LL REMEMBER!!!!!!!

Heh, yah, yesterday I didn't even realize it, but I had gone about two pages into chapter nine!!! Oops!!! Thankfully I've read it before... :) BUT IT'S HARD!!! When I'm reading by myself, I don't usually pay any attention to the chapters. :(

Olana is simply biased to the mountain folk, she thinks that only a low lander deserves to be the princess. That's why her rules are so dumb.

I've read to chapter eight, and was going to read to ten today... am I supposed to only read to nine? I'll wait until nighttime to read, so I will know what to do. :)

So far the book is really good. I like the way that you get into the plot in the very first chapter. Really well written, too.
