Most horrible: James. He was so poorly written. *shudder* And he only existed for twenty pages.

Most evil: Voldy. SADIST!

Most fun to read about (wait, does fanfiction count?): Voldy. :D

Now, how about a list of my own? Votes will go towards most evil, most insane, most fun to read about, and scariest. Even though this is BaB I'll through in some visual media baddies, just for the heck of it eh? 'cause there's not a lot of grandiose Big Bads in literature that would almost certainly be well-known enough for a poll.. Give thy thoughts on each villain. Even the ones you haven't come across, just judge by their name or something.

1. Voldy (Harry Potter)

2. Sweeney Todd! (The String of Pearls, the original story)

3. Mr. Teatime (The Hogfather (a Discworld book))

4. Erik (The Phantom of the Opera, book!version)

5. Mab (The 1998 miniseries Merlin)

5a. The Lady of the Lake (The 1998 miniseries Merlin)

6. The Wizard (Wicked! and on principle of being *balanced*)

7. The Wicked Witch of the West (Wizard of Oz)

8. Disney (real life) (no, I'm not kidding)

9. Javert (Les Miserables)

10. smeyer (real life) (NO. I'm not kidding)

11. Dr. Horrible (Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog) (well he's a VILLAIN protagonist, after all)

12. Bad Horse (DHSAB)

13. Spike! (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

14. James (Twilight, even though he was only in existence for twenty pages)

15. Azkadellia (Tin Man!)

and my thoughts:

1. Would've liked him better if BellaxVoldy was a canon pair instead of a canon unrequited mess.

2. He killed people, for no other reason than that he COULD. What's not to like?

3. Dude, he tried to kill the Hogfather (er, that's like killing Santa Claus for you non-Terry-Pratchett-groupies). Of course I hate his guts! (read: hey, let's get dinner sometime, kay?)

4. I ship Christine/Erik. Back off.

5. Lovelovelovelovelove she was AWESOME (never mind that they completely mangled the mythology surrounding the goddess she was based on. She was still AWESOME.)

5a. Hate! More of a villain than Mab was, manipulating Merlin like that. I wanted to smash her with one of Mab's crystals.

6. Creepy, arrogant schmuck.

7. I always felt a bit sorry for the original version. Then I read Wicked and now I love her. <3

8. I hate them.

9. I dunno. He's kind of robotic, but his lack of personality is oddly fascinating, which I know sounds illogical but it's TRUE.

10. "Everyone thinks she's mad. Or Hitler, or something..." TAMING OF THE SHREW. With Rufus Sewell <333. Anyway, I despise smeyer.

11. I want to hug him.

12. He's a horse in charge of the Evil League of Evil. I love him.

13. He's a BA, and he's gorgeous. And he made an alliance with his nemesis and beat up his best friend/sire to get the girl. And he's got a trenchcoat. And he's a ba.

14. Blech.

15. LOVE! LOVELOVELOVE for the crazy villain with multiple (justified) personalities. Who talks to herself!

Regarding Mathilda's- if you mean "most horrible" as in worst written, then definitely James... who could've been a great villain but instead wasn't because Smeyer prefers pretty things to villains. :( If you mean "most horrible" as in most, evil, vile, cold-hearted, etc., then Voldy for both. Definitely Voldy for most fun to read about. 'Specially if fanfiction counts. ;)

Regarding TNO's (umlaut):

Voldy- Bellatrix-Voldy was better as an unrequited mess.

Sweeney Todd- Just judging by what you've said, he sounds okay.

Mr. Teatime- Okay, really, how awful can a guy called "teatime" be?

Erik- Having read the REAL version now (I *detest* GIC), Erik/Christine would've been more interesting. Erik was one of the best characters.

Mab- See Teatime, though then again I have no clue of what you speak.

Lady of the Lake, Wizard, Witch- Again, I'm clueless, but I have read Wizard of Oz... I wouldn't say Oz was a "villain," per se.

Disney- Sure, he slaughtered a bunch of the stories, but some of them (Peter Pan, for instance) were good. For little children. I think he meant well.

Javert- Have yet to read Les Mis.

Smeyer- Well, naturally. No one could have ruined vampire lore as effectively as she did (which reminds me, Dracula was an excellent villain as well).

Bad Horse- Really? Is that his name? He's head of the Evil League of Evil? Gee whiz, does he sound original.

Spike- I've heard good things, though I know virtually nothing about Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

James- As said above, he could've been awesome (Victoria too), except that, well, Smeyer hated them. And the actor in the movie was very good, on a semi-related note.

Azkadellia- If names count for anything, awesome.

Also: The Administrator has the right idea. ;)

Re: Voldy: YOU LIE! The problem with Voldy is he has virtually no sliver of humanity. The best villains are the ones you can almost *relate* to. Take Azkadellia for example. I mean... Her dominant personality is a sadistic, cruel monster, but her *other* personality is a scared little girl... She's human when she's not, you know, ruthlessly murdering people who get in her way. Anyway, the point being, if Voldy had had more than one motivating factor (i.e. immortality and power), such as, well, maybe not love, but some semblance of human emotion (preferably for Bella), he would've been a much more complex villain. Would've helped if he didn't strategize like an idiot and try the same fail!plots over and over and over again, too, but that's an entirely different matter.

Re: Sweeney: Oh, yes, and he poisoned Mrs. Lovett when she started to grow a conscious. Which was sad, but not as sad as in the musical/movie when he throws her in an oven for lying about his wife. :(

Re: Mr. Teatime: He hired a locksmith to break into the Tooth Fairy's room. When said locksmith couldn't figure out the lock, Teatime dropped him from about six stories high. He tries to- and almost succeeds in- killing the Hogfather (the Discworld equivalent of Santa Claus). He's sadistic. Names mean nothing, dearie.

Re: Mab: Well, she wasn't evil per se, just kind of backed into a corner by Merlin and the new religion (she was being forgotten, that is) and unable to really do anything about it.

Re: The Wizard: he was the villain in Wicked, but a good guy in WoO.

Re: Disney: No, no, not the man himself! I love Walt-era Disney. Well, not *love* but can tolerate and in some cases enjoy. I meant *modern* Disney which thinks it's a good idea to cast *Beyonce* as AIDA. *fumes*

Re: Bad Horse: In his defense he is revealed to be, quite literally, a horse. And you only see him for about twenty seconds. *shrug*

Re: Az: "If you remember nothing else, remember this: The next time I snuff out your insignificant little life, there'll be no one standing by to save you." To her own sister. "Awesome" is a good word.

The Wizard was not a villan in Wicked. He was misguided by Madame Morrible. She was the true villan. She betrayed Elphaba, convinced the Wizard that the bad he was doing was good, killed Elphaba's sister. The Wizard just helped her, unknowingly doing wrong.

My list:

(In terms of evilness)

1. Big Brother

2. The Titans (From Percy Jackson)

3. Voldy

3.5 Bellatrix (No offense TNO, but she's so evil, I agree that she's awesome in the book)

4. Mrs.Coulter

5. Saint Dane (From Pendragon)

6. Mr. Chensey (From "The Dark Lord Of Derkholm" by DWJ. Everyone should read it.

7. Prince Humperdink (From "The Princess Bride)

8. That French dude in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"

The Wizard was the villain in the book.

1. Big Brother is watching you.

2. Meh.

3. Hey, never said she wasn't evil!

4. Again, meh.

5. Never read it.

6. See response 5.

7. The Count Rugen was creepier, in my opinion.

I've never read Twilight or His Dark Materials, so I can only choose from Voldemort and The Ring. I agree with Admin on them.

As for TNO's villains, I'll just talk about the ones I know about:

1. Very interesting.

7. I don't really have an opinion about her

8. Annoying, for the most part

10. I barely know anything about her

Well, that's about all I have to say. Does anyone else think that Capricorn (from Inkheart) is very poorly written? Cornelia Funke makes up for him, though, with the amazing villains in Inkspell and Inkdeath, and all the added dimensions to Mortola in the latter.

I must say I think everything in Inkheart is badly written, but yes, especially Capricorn.

Most evil: Voldy

Most insane: Disney (have you seen some of his movies?)

Most fun to read about: again, Voldy

Scariest: Sweeny Todd

1. There's a reason the trope is Disney Acid Sequence.

2. Oddly enough, Voldy's the most fun to make fun of, too.

3. WE ALL DESRVE TO DIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEE! Nietzsche Wannabe + Ear Worm. It's a good combination.

Most horribly written: James, definitly.

Most evil: Um... Voldemort.

Most fun to read about: All except James.

What/who is AIDA?

(July 31, 2009 - 3:37 pm)

Well the Aida I was referencing was the character from the Elton John and Tim Rice musical of the same name. It's a musical based on an opera (also called Aida).

The original cast included Heather Headley (Aida), Adam Pascal (Radames), and Sherie Rene Scott (Amneris). Disney now is pushing for a movie version starring Beyonce as Aida and Christina Aguilera as Amneris (Radames hasn't been picked yet). Grah.

I only really know about Voldemort, but he's definitely evil, well-written, and fun to read about. (in my opinion, at least. :)
