I am not sure if you find these weird, but I have read a) Absolute Boyfriend and b) Alice in Murderland. Please don't ask me why I read them. Also, about 95% of the books I read are manga.

Manga are Japanese graphic novels.

Actually, it's pretty complicated, because think "manga" or "anime" you also think of those big eyes and art style typical of these genres, Asian culture embedded in it in general... some people consider manga manga only if it's from Japan.  Others say anything that says it's manga is manga.  Others say all Asian graphic novels are manga, and some think it's manga only if it has big eyes.  The only things that aren't debated is that all Japanese graphic novels and comic books are manga, and manga cannot be anything other than graphic novels.

What I basically say to describe manga is "anime in comic books," but anime has the same debates as manga.

Some examples of manga (I've only read a couple of these):

My Hero Academia

Demon Slayer

Dankonronpa

Yotsuba&!

Angelic Layer

Death Note

Chi's Sweet Home

Jujutsu Kaisen

Manga is Japanese style comics. I love their drawings and stories way better than our comics.

Manga is Japanese graphic novels, usually when transalated to English. It is also sometimes referred to as a drawing style. Traditional Manga is read backwards to preserve the original artwork. The dictionary definition is: a style of Japanese comic books and graphic novels, typically aimed at adults as well as children. Contrary to popular belief, Anime is not Manga; it is Japanese animation in the same style as Manga. The dictionary definition of Anime is: a style of Japanese film and television animation, typically aimed at adults as well as children. However, it is often used to refer to a certain type of Manga.

Sorry if I sound like a smarty pants!!!!...I am not (you should see how bad I am at MATH). I just learned a lot about Manga when I first started reading it. Foot in mouth And I am used to writing in that tone when I edit my parents' yearly homeschool report *wicked grin*

HAH YES THE BOO MATH CLUB

Yeah a lot of manga is really bad, which sucks because I love manga but I don't wanna read that stuff...

ANYWAYS I know you asked Shining Star but here's the super appropriate manga I've found

Yotsuba&!

Chi's Sweet Home

Peach Fuzz (not everyone considers this manga though)

Angelic Layer

And... THAT'S ALL I'VE FOUND!  I've been searching for good manga for FOUR YEARS.  I haven't found much appropriate and good manga and anime, and my anime-obsessed friends haven't been much help because they read all that questionable stuff, which I wanna stay away from...
