Chatterbox: Blab About Books

book log 2023
this is basically...

this is basically a reboot of Lupine's Monthly Book Log. if you don't know, what you do is post the names of the books you've read every month/week/whatever, and at the end of the year (if the thread doesn't die) you can see how many books you read that year. plus, you can get lots of book recommendations from other people's lists! if you want, you can include a bit of what you thought of each book, or its genres, or maybe how many stars out of five. do as much or as little as you like.

so, yeah! very simple in theory, but a cool idea. here we go. (happy new year, everybody :D)

Oh, I want to read Camp QUILTBAG! The main character uses ey/em (or something like that) right? I've never seen neopronouns in a book (other than my own, where they're everywhere XD) before! Also I love that the title is not super overtly queer unless you know that acronym because it makes it way easier for me to check out.

I looked up Imposter Syndrome and Other Confessions of Alejandra Kim because of the name and it sounds cool. Was it good? Also was there any romance?

Also Midsummer's Mayhem was so fun! I love baking. I don't remember much about it to be honest, I just remember enjoying it. I think I was so inspired I had to make either a lemon-thyme cake afterwards XD (I think that's what it was at least, it might have been adzuki bean and haupia/coconut.)

Yeah, one of the 2 main characters uses e/em pronouns! That was the first time I'd seen neopronouns in a book too. I think there needs to be more of that in books, since I don't know many people in real life who use neopronouns so I don't get to practice them enough.

Imposter Syndrome was amazing! It was probably one of the best books I've read this year. For a YA it's pretty (for lack of a better word) clean, and the main character doesn't really have a love interest. It's a lot more focused on racial identity and stuff like that.
