Yeah, yeah. I

Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

Yeah, yeah. I

Yeah, yeah. I know you all must have missed me so much.

Especially if there are any guys on here who have not yet been scared away by the rather terrifying gender overbalance.

I AM HERE TO RIGHT THAT WRONG :DDDDDD

For any of you who remember me, hi, it's summer and I'm back.

For those (most) of you who do not, I am Zach L, Owl City fanatic, saxophone virtuoso (not really), obsessive reader, borderline nerd, sort-of-good speedcuber, and all-around awesome.

So basically my English teacher hates everyone so HOMEWORK. And TWO SAX LESSONS A WEEK. (And a guitar lesson.) And then when I had free time pesky things interfered like, you know, friends . . .

In recent news, while I was gone I attended an All-State music conference, obtained a girlfriend, was published in two anthologies, and won a $1000 scholarship.

NOTE: THOSE ARE THE HIGHLIGHTS. I'M NOT ACTUALLY AS GOOD AS THEY MAKE ME SOUND.

So yes

I'm back

*graciously fends off screaming fans*

Captcha says hhum. I do hum a lot.

Welcome back, Zach!

Welcome back, Zach! I've been on since around last August so my one year anniversary is coming up. Anywho, I love Doctor Who, Sherlock, Harry Potter, Wondla, John Green books, cats, owls, identifying herbs and birds, music like Imagine Dragons and Ed Sheeran, and reading long books. Oh, and of course writing my novel. I'm also a flute player and I'm learning the saxophone (maybe some tips would help?) this summer so I can continue Jazz Band in high school (no flutes in Jazz Band for high school). And one more thing I forgot to announce awhile ago: I made All County for a NYSSMA flute solo, Polovtsian Dance :D Super excited about that, maybe I can get All State or something, who knows.

So yeah. That be the Moss, aka Kyra. Pronounced Kear-ah. Not Ky-ra. Wow, this a rant actually haha.

Saxophone tips:

- KEEP YOUR FINGERS CURVED WITH THE TIPS ON THE KEYS AND FOR YOUR LEFT THUMB MOVE YOUR HAND OUT SO YOUR THUMB IS TOUCHING THE OCTAVE KEY JUST ENOUGH TO PUSH DOWN EASILY. I NEVER DID THIS FOR FOUR YEARS AND NOW MY LESSON TEACHER IS TELLING ME TO FIX IT AND HABITS. UGH

- It helps if you move your elbows out so your arms are in a perfectly straight line from elbow all across wrist until your fingers start to curve in.

- If you're playing in a jazz band, use a lot of air, and press in with the corners of your mouth to get a better sound.

- In all music open your throat as if you were singing; it gives you a better tone. Resist the urge to tighten up, it strangles the note.

I really really wish we had a flutist in our jazz band that would be SO COOL but our teacher won't go for it D:

And that's awesome about All County! Definitely try for All State! It's super super competitive (well I'm in California, lots of people haha) and sax and flute are among the top few hardest sections to get in on so you might have a kinda tough time. But definitely try, honor bands are such a great experience.

Thanks for the tips! I'm going to be practicing all summer, plus writing my novel :)

I meant to submit this soon but I was busy and forgot. I can't wait for All County in the fall or winter. I think the concert is next January, and the preparing is in the fall. At least from what I heard in the announcements from school.
