Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

Admin. Question Thread.

Admin. Question Thread.

Ever had a question to ask the admins? I sure have! So, I propose we create a thread, for the especial purpose of asking these rankling questions. It may completely flop, it may have one or two questions asked, the admins may completely ignore it, or it could take off. Please note that while I meant this thread for important questions, I realize that people will be people, and if you want to ask whether the Admins like PB&J or Ham sandwiches better, be my guest. Admins are perfectly within their rights to refuse to answer any or all questions. Please don't stalk off angrily if they don't. They're very busy, you know. But if they feel like answering, then please be grateful that they answered, and don't get conceited and demand an answer next time. Admins probably do not play favors as well. Admins, if you don't plan on supporting this thread to at least some extent, please don't post it. I feel rather forward doing this, and I would feel better if you had some choice in the matter.

As you say, we might not be able to post or answer every question, because we are so shy (and busy administrating), and because we want you to be chatting with other kids reading Cricket. But let's try it. Eventually, we hope to update the FAQ section and provide some kind of welcome page (although you buggies have been doing it on your own) and some improvement in navigation--i.e., act on a few of the suggestions from the Suggestion Box. But this could be another spot for feedback and questions.

Admin, when you enter for an art contest, does the picture have to be on a 8 1/2 by 11" sheet of paper, or can it be smaller?  Thanks!

(Thanks, Starfire!)

We accept artwork of any size in Cricket League. Small is fine. The ones we print in the magazine have often been submitted in very different sizes. What is more diffieult for us is art that is bigger than 11 by 18. We look forward to seeing more of your work!

Oh great!  Thank you!!  The style of art I'm doing now is about 10 by 7 1/2", so was really nervous that I couldn't send it to you!  Thank you! :D

One time, it was when you were supposed to photograph water, I had the PERFECT shot, but didn't get it in the mail in time!!! I was so sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I keep hoping they'll do it again, so I can reenter it!!!!!! :D

Good idea, Starfire! Okay, what kinds of things are we not allowed to put in posts?

*raises hand* *cough* Ummm . . . could you put a search engine, please?  That would great. *blushes* I know I already said that and all, but . . . *cough* Anyway.  I like it that you guys (the Administrators) post stuff now!!!! :):D:):D Yay!! :):D:):D And sorry if I got mad and irritable a couple of times. :(

We're trying to face up to providing some better way of finding threads on the site. It's a bit complicated, and we're still learning about what can be done with Tater's  original design, which frustrates us all at times.

I have a pretty simple question: could we add a "Back to ______" at the bottom of each thread? Becasue a bunch of 'em are pretty long and my computer is always irritating when I try to scroll up and down a lot! Thanks!

I don't make rules as to that. If the admins want to tell what they won't answer, they can. Probably it would be a good idea not to swamp them (and this thread) with unimportant stuff.

*ahem* Sorry to bug you, but you didn't answer. Don't take this personally, please...

We will not post anything on any topic that is not suitable for our youngest readers, who may be age 8 or even younger. Nor will we post photos of people, photos copied from other Web sites, or anything unkind or bad language. We also will not post links to other Web sites which we do not control. Admin reserves the right to decide what will be posted.

For more information, please refer to Chatterbox Rules.

Basically, be guided by the language and topics you find in Cricket. Stories that are too gory or violent won't be posted. (Nobuggy would find such stories in Cricket.) Disrespectful comments will be deleted. Topics too mature or sensitive to be in Cricket magazine are not appropriate for the Web site, either.

People all over the world read Cricket. This site is an opportunity for everybuggy to talk to each other safely on the Web. It's like the Letterbox, but without the long delays in responding to what other kids say. Here, you can learn more about the Cricket authors and artists and how they work. You can develop stories together, and exchange ideas about books and plays.

We read each comment. Sometimes, someone may unintentionally include something that is not quite acceptable. We might edit what they say slightly, and then post their comment. Sometimes we have to delete the entire comment. It is not easy for us to explain the reason to you without posting a public comment that might be embarrassing, and which we don't really want to do very often. But it's nothing to worry about. Unless someone is consistently posting inappropriate comments, we will continue to post that person's other comments that are appropriate.
