Admin. Question Thread.

Ever had a question to ask the admins? I sure have! So, I propose we create a thread, for the especial purpose of asking these rankling questions. It may completely flop, it may have one or two questions asked, the admins may completely ignore it, or it could take off. Please note that while I meant this thread for important questions, I realize that people will be people, and if you want to ask whether the Admins like PB&J or Ham sandwiches better, be my guest. Admins are perfectly within their rights to refuse to answer any or all questions. Please don't stalk off angrily if they don't. They're very busy, you know. But if they feel like answering, then please be grateful that they answered, and don't get conceited and demand an answer next time. Admins probably do not play favors as well. Admins, if you don't plan on supporting this thread to at least some extent, please don't post it. I feel rather forward doing this, and I would feel better if you had some choice in the matter.

As you say, we might not be able to post or answer every question, because we are so shy (and busy administrating), and because we want you to be chatting with other kids reading Cricket. But let's try it. Eventually, we hope to update the FAQ section and provide some kind of welcome page (although you buggies have been doing it on your own) and some improvement in navigation--i.e., act on a few of the suggestions from the Suggestion Box. But this could be another spot for feedback and questions.

I'm sort of new to this magazine, and there's something I don't really know.  Can you send in a Favorite First Sentence anytime of the year, or just when the Favorite First Sentences is in the magazine?  Sorry if that's not clear. :)

Paige

You can send it Favorite First Sentences anytime. That feature appears in the magazine about every other issue. It alternates with Cricket Readers Recommend.

This isn't really an important question, I'm just curious....why is it that sometimes you have to type in four letters at the bottom of a comment you're submitting, yet other times you don't?

I was wondering that, too.

It's so that they can know whether you're a real person, or a computer automatically sending in posts, which would be bad. :P:P Am I right? :):)

Paige is right that typing the letters is to assure that the comment is from a real person, but I don't know why the system doesn't always ask you to do that. It might be that it asks you the first time you send a comment each time you're logged on. Then when you send a second one it doesn't.

Hmm...  It only asks me to do it about once a month...  But don't worry!  I am real!!! :D:D:D

Me, too. Don't worry, I have no doubts that you're real. Among other things, how could you get honorable mention in those contests if you didn't exist?

I'm real, too. It asks me to type in the letters when I'm making a new thread, or about once or twice a month if I'm just replying to a thread.

I believe that all of you are real.

I was wondering... is there a place online that we can submit favorite books or favorite first sentences?

Yes, Charlotte. From the home page, select Old Cricket's Library, then look for Cricket Readers Recommend.

Okay, here's another (sorry if I'm annoying you!): My friend saw the new Cricket League contest, and she really want's to enter, but she's not subscribed to Cricket.  Can she enter?  If not, that's fine. :):)

Yes, Paige. Anyone can enter, whether a Cricket subscriber or not.

I seem to recall finding a page about the person who created the buggies. But, now I can't find it. Could you please point me in the right direction!?   :D:D:D

From our home page (www.cricketmagkids.com), select Meet Everybuggy. Then wait till you see the words Click here to learn about Carolyn Digby Conahan.
