Music and Stuff

Music and Stuff thread.

What type of music do y'all listen to?

Personally I like pop and alternative. Taylor Swift, Melanie Martinez, and Halsey are my favorite artists, and you all know who Tayior Swift is, but do we have any other Crybabies or Halsey fans on here?

Also, what instruments do you guys play?

I play guitar, trumpet, piano, and drums, but mostly guitar. I've taken lessons in all, but currently I only take guitar lessons and that's probably my favorite instrument to play.

Also, who else writes songs?

I'm sure some of you have seen my songs on YouTube, so yeah. If you haven't, they're called Optimist, Confession Song, You Can't Stop Me, Heroes, and Wishes. Well those are the ones on YouTube. My favorites are Wishes and Heroes, but everyone else like Optimist the best, probably because it's the first song I posted.

So yeah!

Byeeeee!

I like listening to music, mostly exciting pop and recently, steampunk. Sadly, I don't listen to it much because it always distracts me from what I'm doing instead of helping me.

I don't play any instruments, but my mom has been wanting me to take piano for some time. To be honest, I'd rather learn guitar.

Kinda random secret: I have written about 7 full songs. They're terrible because I just write whatever comes to the top of my head very quicky. I would never try to sing them because privacy online, and my voice always sounds like a stuffy toddler when I talk through a machine.

I listen to Hamilton... and Hamilton... and Hamilton... and occasionally In the Heights... and Hamilton...

I also play cello, which I love, love, love, and I have a friend who writes songs too.

HAMILTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(1000x)

And I've heard a couple of songs from In the Heights. I really like "Blackout".

I used to play piano, but I decided to take a break* because I've been missing a lot because of sports.

At last, there is a music thread! I was tempted to make my own before seeing this one.

I love music, everything about it. Although I have a weird mix of musical tastes. I love electronic (sub-genres such as electronica) with artists like Approaching Nirvana, Pegboard Nerds, and anyone else who is under the Monstercat label. I also love instrumentals done on violin, cello, piano, etc. No, it is not the classical music many think of. Just instrumental covers. Some artists from this includes: the Piano Guys, Lindsey Stirling, Brooklyn Duo, and Taylor Davis (video game covers). I also like a little bit of alternative rock, such as Imagine Dragons. I am a pretty big fan of acapella, such as Peter Hollens, Straight No Chaser, and Pentatonix. Then there are video game and movie soundtracks... Native American flute music, Christan Alternative Rock/Pop... Minecraft Music (used to by my #1 favorite genre)... Finally, I like a few random artists from other genres, being Coldplay, Lukas Graham, Ed Sheeran, Owl City, and Macklemore to name a few.

Overall, my top three as of now are Lukas Graham, Approaching Nirvana, and Brooklyn Duo or Lindsey Stirling. But I love it all and so much more, depending on my mood. As for instruments and writing songs, I don't do either. Not to mention I have a horrible voice (in my opinion).

I love the Piano Guys and Lindsey Stirling! Have you seen the music video of Star Wars music that the P.G.s did? It's awesome! One of my favorite Lindsey Stirling songs is Crystallize. It's beautiful! And I want to listen to Taylor Swift music, but my mom won't let me because she says that most of it is inappropriate. She did, however, let me get one song, Safe & Sound, from the Hunger games soundtrack. I haven't read the books or watched the movies, but I saw that song and I love it. Moi lyrics:

I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go"
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Don't you dare look out your window darling
Everything's on fire
The war outside our door keeps raging on
Hold onto this lullaby
Even when the music's gone
Gone

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
La La (La La)
La La (La La)
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
La La (La La)

Just close your eyes
You'll be alright
Come morning light,
You and I'll be safe and sound...

Oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh oh oh

Awesome! I heard that Coldplay and Imagine Dragons also did songs for the soundtrack. I like them, too.

@Leafpool, Uh... yeah. Taylor Swift is never appropriate, besides the song Safe and Sound. Which, by the way, I LOVE that song. And yet I hate Taylor Swift. But the song is wonderful, because it has a connection to the book, having been on the soundtrack. And yes, Imagine Dragons did Who We Are and Coldplay did Atlas, as the two I know of. Both are amazing songs (and amazing bands!). If you get the chance, please do read the Hunger Games series! It is amazing. Now, the movies aren't all that appropriate, so...

As for Lindsey Stirling, Crystalize is one of my favorites as well. I also like Roundtable Rival, Shadows, and My Immortal, as personal favorites. And yes, I have seen the video for P.G Star Wars music video, it was awesome. And that is coming from someone who has only seen one Star Wars movie (my friend made me watch it). Surprisingly, it was pretty good. Confusing, though. Glad to see we have similar tastes in music! I thought I was a loner on my style.

Electronic instrumental stuff like Ratatat, mostly. I also make a lot of music like that with Soundation and Looplabs. Sometimes I listen to math rock like TTNG or Pennines as well. I used to love Owl City but not so much anymore.

Novelist - There's a music genre called steampunk? Tell me more...

Hey, I like Halsey, too! What is your favorite song by her? I like Trouble.

As for what music, I don't really have one type. I was listening to 50s music for like all of March. I listen to Twenty One Pilots all the time. I also listen to some R&B and some rap and some indie and some classical and some musical music (I don't think that is what it's called. Can't think of the word), so I'm all over the place. The one type I will never listen to is 70s. Yuck.

I play the clarinet and piano, and never write songs because I can't sing.

I'm super lazy right now and can't think of a good ending sentence. Bye.

@HAB

Yep. Another online friend showed it to me. They don't really have words, but think of a music hybrid between pop and electronic. It sounds a lot like something from a video game.

Steam-powered Giraffe is popular band.

OHMIGANDALF, LEAFPOOL, YOU LISTEN TO BOTH LINDSEY STIRLING AND THE PIANO GUYS!!!!!!!!?!?!?!?!

I like listen to dem^, Thomas Beregensen (He's Norwegian!) and this one lady ... I forgot her name, while writing.

I listen to Alan Menken/Other Disney songs when I need to sing, or my shuffle, which has Jennifer Knapp, DA BEATLES, Jars of Clay, Frozen, and some other random assorted songs, like Happy (any Voice fans?) or some which I've forgotten the names to. I know all the lyrics, though!
