Ok guys, so I was thinking. What do you think about starting a book club? We could decide on a book and all read it at the same time and stuff. Have any of you read The Boy in the Striped Pajamas?

Nope, sorry. How about a Narnia book?

Is it ok if some people have already read the book that we choose.

narnia is great, except that if you're doing a book like Narnia, people want to go into the symbolic stuff which might annoy the non-christians. But if no one cares, then good idea!

Yeah, that's ok. As long as you remember it so we can talk about it chapter by chapter.

Ooh!  Good idea!!  But please, not a really sad book...  :)

That's a good idea, but it would be sort of hard to decide on a book.

Golden compass is O.K.,but I don't know........... Anyway I think if we did a Narnia book that voyage of the dawn treader or the lion the witch and the wardrobe would be good. What do you guys (and girls) think?????

I personally disliked BITSP. Narnia sounds good, though.

I think that we should do The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. For the people that might not have read this series before, it would be good to start with a book that introduces the others.

Ok, I know this is horribly cruel of me, but could we not choose a battle book?  I'm a coward when it comes to violence, and I really want to be in this book club. I've never been in a club before!

Oh, maybe there could be sections!  Like, we could choose three different books, or something, and then everybody could choose the book they prefer.  They all could be different genres.  See what you think.  :)

I kinda like battle books, too. I also like books that have a good desciption of food. :)

Great idea, Laura!  As a group we could come up with three different books (different genres, as you proposed?) and choose . . . maybe have a vote?  What say you, Grace?  Everyone?

I'm not allowed to read that one. What about The Diary of Anne Frank??

Great idea!  Except . . . can we do something other than fantasy?  Like sci-fi or something?  Or, no, we'll do all the genres, but in a cycle?  And we'll have to make a list of everyone who's in the club, so as not to get confused, and do different genres.  And we should probably alternate between who gets to pick the book.  Since it was Grace's idea, she should go first, and then Carli (who are you, by the way??), Nitehawk, Laura, Lena, Adina, Brynne, and me, then Grace, Carli, Nighthawk--you get the picture?  What you y'all think? :)

Books I would choose:

~Historical fiction:
Milkweed (or) The Book Thief
Nefertiti
The Silent Boy
Chains (or) Uncle Tom's Cabin
Island of the Blue Dolphins (or) Streams to the River, River to the Sea
~Sci-fi:
The Music of Dolphins
The Declaration
The House of the Scorpion
Uglies
The Giver
~Fantasy:
Inkheart
Animal Farm (it isn't exactly fantasy, but I don't know where else to put it)
Harry Potter (well . . . ) :)
Wicked (er . . . maybe not . . .)*
--Ummm . . . I'll let you guys do the fantasy.  I don't know much. :)
~[some] Books I haven't read yet but I think we should try:
Snowfall
The Hunger Games
Wintergirls
Lord of the Flies
My Sister's Keeper
Persepolis
Monster
Abarat
Mountain Girl River Girl
The Color Purple
The Lord of the Rings series
The Golden Compass series
--What do you guys think?  We could do a Narnia book first, if Grace wants to, but personally I'd prefer something else.
*WICKED!!!!!!!  I ♥ Wicked!!!!!!!!!!!! :):D:):D:):D
Sorry, I just had to say that. :)
