Ask The Admins!

Have you ever wanted to ask the admins a question? The admins are the helpful people that review our posts to make sure they are okay, and then publish them! You may be familiar with this thread, as it has been posted before. You can ask the admins anything, as long as it isn't inappropriate and isn't about anybody's personal lives. I think this thread will be really fun! Also, for the admins to reply, you need to start your question with, "@Admins."

I'll start.

@Admins,

What is your favorite food and why?

OH, I can't name ONE favorite food! If I HAD to say one, I guess I'd say spaghetti with meat sauce. But also near the top: chicken with rice and stirfry vegetables, warm buttered bread (just out of the oven), fresh, ripe peaches, mocha chip frozen custard in a waffle cone, cran/orange/pecan pie, . . . Can you tell it's getting close to suppertime? Why? Because I like them.

@Admins what’s it like working for Cricket Media?

No two days are alike. There's something new every day: letters, contest entries, Chatterbox submissions, stories, poems, beautiful artwork—all things I love. There's always plenty to do.

@Admins: how do you guys pick which letters get published in the magazine? I imagine you must get a lot of lovely ones, it must be difficult to choose?

We look for any letters that relate to specific themes in the issue. Beyond that, we look for letters with a variety of interesting content from different ages and places. Any letters from boys have a good chance of being published, because we get so few of them.

Hey, Admin?  What's your favorite movie of ALL TIME?  Mine's Thor-Ragnarok.

OH, "favorite" questions are really tough for me! I love to watch old classic movies, so there are a lot to consider. If I had to name just one, I guess I'd say "Babe."

@Admins, do you have a favorite RP thread? Also, do you guys follow RPs?

No, I don't have a favorite. While we review each comment before posting it, we don't really follow the whole sequence of any RP that way, because there are two of us posting at different times of day. We don't usually have time to go read the whole thread.

Two questions:

@Admins:

What is your favorite book that has been mentioned on the CB?

And,

Do you realize how amazing you are?

Seriously. I appreciate you so much for making sure I have a wonderful website to call home. I'm sure everyone else feels the same. Thank you :)

Oh, more tough questions! So many books. I know how to count, but I'm going to name two: The Mozart Season and I Capture the Castle. And no, I don't think I'm amazing. I just enjoy hearing from all of you.

Since the Admins were asked about their favorite RP, I'll ask a broader question involving that.

Have you noticed any multiple RP/single writes that you enjoyed, or concepts that you thought were interesting? (If you think it might insult any CBers whose RPs weren't mentioned, you can just mention the RPs/Single writes of times past.)

I've enjoyed and thought many were interesting . . . too many to single out any few.

@Admins

Two questions-

How did you find out about your job on Cricket?

And if you had to, how would you get another person interested in becoming an Admin?

-Sketchbook

When I was searching for a job, I sent a letter of inquiry and my resume to Cricket, was invited to interview, and then offered a job in the editorial department.

I would invite a potential Admin to become familiar with all threads on Chatterbox plus Cricket magazine.

Admins, do you work from home, or a designated office? And do you consider your work fun?

I work in Cricket Media's main office in Chicago, but some of the other Admins work or have worked from home. Yes, my work is very fun. It can be difficult and stressful sometimes because there is a lot of responsibility and nonstop deadlines, but I love working on all of Cricket's magazines, especially with all the talented authors and artists whose work is in the magazines!

I live near Chicago... You Admins better watch out, because one day I might just walk into that office. *evil laugh*

We better get some ice cream just in case... :)

So-this might be a weird question to ask, but I'm going to ask it anyways, and I hope that the question makes sense.

@Admins

Are you guys your own boss when you work; or is there someone even higher than you at work who is in charge of you guys? (Hope that one makes sense...)

Also, when did you first start being an Admin?

Do you like to write? If so, what kind of things do you like to write?

I have a couple more questions, but I think I'll stop there for now.

There is an editorial director to whom we report, but we mostly work on our own. I started being an Admin when Chatterbox first went live in 2008. I don't really write much fiction, but I like to write editorials, travel journals, and letters.
