Photography Contest!!!!!

Photography Contest!!!!!

So, we haven't had one of these in a while, but They're really fun and I miss them. So, I'm bringing this back! Yay! So, this works just like the drawing contest, there's a judge, me, for the first round, who picks a theme and a set date for the photos to be due. Then once the entries are in, they judge, and whoever wins is the next judge!

The rules are:

1. Stick to the theme, please!

2. No pictures of people.

3. Nothing inappropriate.

4. Be kind to others about their photos.

Let me know if I missed any!

The first topic/theme will be.......color! The due date will be March 30.

I'm excited to see your photos!

Are we allowed to edit the photo?

I'd say yes as long as it's just something like the brightness or contrast of the photo, and nothing is edited into the photo.

I wasn’t sure which one to go with, but here’s the one I chose. It’s in California at sunset.

JUDGING DAY!!!!!

Okay, so this round was really hard to judge. But without further ado, here are the results:

Sixth place: Barnswallow, I really like the way the clouds in the sky convey distance in the photograph, and I love the way the lake peeks into the picture.

Fith place: Dolphin, I really like the contrast in your photo, and the way the trees are silhouetted against the sky. I also like the way there's a nice balance between the sky and the silhouettes.

Fourth place: Jade J., I love the composition of the photo. The low horizon really highlights the sky, and the trees, houses and water are placed in such a way that they really add to the impact of the sky in the photo. Plus the beautiful purples, pinks, oranges and blues make for a really interesting sky.

Third place: DoodleGirl and PandaGirl, though your photos were very different, I couldn't chose one over the other. DoodleGirl, I really like how expansive the sky is in your photo, and how the branch stretching across the picture is lit. PandaGirl, I love how the sky is reflected in the water in your picture, and the contrast between the bright yellows and oranges of the sun, versus the blues of the rest of the sky.

Second place: AutumnArtist and Joan B. of Arc, I coudn't decide between either of your photos either. A.A, your picture was a really unique take on the theme. I really like the way the larger firework is surrounded with smaller ones, but still remains the focus, and how all the fireworks stand out against the dark sky. Joan, your picture is really beautiful. I really love the way you can see a distinct line of sand, water and sky, and the way the sun is positioned.

First place: Alex, I love your take on the theme, and the way the sun shining through the leaves causes darker shadows of different shapes on other leaves. I also like the balance between the amount of sky showing through the leaves and the leaves themselves.
