Article Game

This is a game, as it says above. Basically, I will choose the first headline, and everyone else has to come up with the article. I will judge first, and then the winner will judge. If you don't understand, I can explain more. Here is the headline

New Variety of Carrot Set to Revolutionise Our Eating Habits

You have to at least write one paragraph. You can write more, but the minimum is one paragraph for the article.

Disclaimer: I liked all the articles! I said what I liked most and also tried to give some feedback. You don't have to pay attention to the feedback, it's mostly my personal preferences. Nice articles everyone!
Third place: Pancake.
Your witness statements were very well written, but what kind of lost me was that there wasn’t anything else. I think you did a great job, but maybe next time explain theories or other parts, not just the witnesses. Still, really great job!
Second place: Golden Lion Tamarin.
I thought the “zodiacal” dragon idea was interesting, and it sounded like a plausible explanation. I also liked how scientific you made it, adding numbers to sound more believable. Finally, the book reference was awesome (: However, I was kind of confused about the “final decision…”
First place: Neverseen.
I really liked how convincing you made your article, especially with "sesconia dragondesics." I thought that was a very creative name and it sounded completely real. One small thing is that you were slightly inconsistent about where this article was from. At first you mentioned MOS as a separate organization, but then you said “we” have discovered, making it sound like the article was from MOS.

Thank you Hex! Also, I really appreciate the feedback. I'll try to remember to be more clear next time. The title for the next article is:

Catastrophe at Local Planatarium Leads to Groundbreaking Discovery:

When Ms. Sally Rosalind Oftergotten, a teacher at Frontwarden Elementary, visited the planitarium with her second grade class yesterday, she was unaware of possible disastors—or discovories. As Ms. Oftergotten and her class were waiting to be let into the planitarium, two small boys playing tag ran away from the group, heading inside. One of them tripped, knocking over a small glass case containing a priceless asteroid. The glass shattered, and the asteroid was released into normal room temperature conditions for the first time in decades.

The asteroid promptly burst on contact, releasing stardust all over the boys. One of them was nursing a scraped knee, and had his mouth open in pain. Scientists believe some stardust infiltrated his natural defenses through his mouth and his knee.

Days later, this same boy was being bullied on the school playground, with Ms. Sally Rosalind Oftergotten watching. As she testified under court, "I was running to stop it, when suddenly [the boy] started glowing faintly. It was a bright yellow-white color, and it seemed to wrap around him. The bully was pushed back onto his knees, while [the boy] levitated a couple inches in the air. Everything moved so fast! Next I knew, the bully was running away, with [the boy] watching in astonishment. The glow had faded." The boy was not able to testify, being too young.

Has this ingested stardust procured a new form of magic? Or is Ms. Sally hallucinating? All will be revealed in HEXART's next article.

GOVERNMENT LACK OF ACTION IN MAGE. CHASE PROMPTS CONSPIRACY THEORIES!

On August 8th, [year in story], a 13-year-old mage evaded government attempts to capture him. The mage, who goes by the name if "Audrun Spikelet", was discovered in Auzrivlia Academy. Despite the ten guards dispatched to custodize him [custodize isn't a word, but it means 'take into custody' in my universe], the mage managed to escape and as of today, his location is unknown. It is believed that he was being helped by another mage, who's name has not been disclosed . In fact, the government is being very tight-lipped about the whole thing. One attempt to interview the governor turned up little.

"We are making every effort to contain the threat," says Governor Venatici, "and in the meantime [we] advise that everyone stay in their homes as much as possible."

We also have a message from Head of Law Enforcement Lt. Volans: "If anyone...sees or suspects that someone is a mage, [they should] immedietly notify a government official. Do not attempt to approach or contain, capture or detain the mage."

Beyond that they will reveal nothing about their methods of finding and custodizing (( :) )) the wayward mage. It does make one wonder...with no obvious search going on, are they really attempting to capture this mage? Or is there something darker going on here? We had an interview with an outspoken woman who shall remain unnamed, she said:

"One wonders if, with the lack of [obvious] action, there could be some kind of dark collaboration going on here...could the government and the mage be conspiring to somehow control the citizens?"

While we take no responsibility for these accusations, it is our job as newspaper reporters to bring you food for thought, even if conspiracy theories soon run wild over Auzrivlia.
