CB Updates -- We Need Your Help!
Hey Chatterbox, it’s the admins. After the CB went down earlier this year, we’ve been working with the Webmaster to get the CB a shiny new upgrade. We’re in the early stages of info gathering right now, and we need your help!
Please share in the comments anything that you hope for in a new version of the CB. You can suggest brand-new features, but also include anything you really would like to stay the same. We want to consider all possibilities (even if we can't use all of your wonderful ideas) to create the best possible place for you! Comment by May 31st any new (or old!) things you might like in a fresh CB.
We can’t wait to hear from you.

PS. An updated CB does not mean an update to our guidelines, so please know that suggestions that explicitly go against the guidelines will not be considered.

Um, no, not necessarily, according to my dad, who's a professional in this field. Once the new site is set up, a CBer could just make a new random thoughts thread, and the old one could stay here so that people can still look at it if they want to. I admit it would be kind of sad not to have the old familiar thread active anymore, but it would be much simpler and possibly less expensive, so I'm good with it.

It seems like it would be like Kyngdom is right now, where all the old threads are archived (which means we can't top them anymore whoa)?

Yes, it would be similar to that :) oh gosh, the thought of no longer topping does seem sort of odd... (Even Iffy's saying <odcfe>! Not sure what cfe means, but she definitely agrees that something's odd)

Maybe something that enables the topping glitch when you make a new post, so you can turn it on if you want.

Just popping in to say I personally think the topping glitch - and all other glitches - should be removed if the opportunity presents itself to remove them. "Top" would still be part of the CB because many people use it when they want to bring a thread to the first page of a section for everyone to see, and although older CBers might view these as integral parts of the CB, it's often confusing for new CBers. It disrupts the functionality of this site, and unless I'm misunderstanding, our goal is to make this site as accessible and easy to use as possible.
Anyways that doesn't really go with the current discussion about how stuff will be moved and all but I wanted to put it out there

I read some of the comments people posted on here and I think these things should be kept/added:
Pronouns Box!
I really like this idea! I know some CBers put their pronouns in at the age/location box, but a Pronouns Box would be a good addition.
Accounts!
Honestly, I think this should be added but also it should be optional so people don't have to have an account if they don't want one.
Search Bar!
I think this should be added for threads. I have tried to look for an old thread of mine but it took an extremely long amount of time, so a search bar would definetly be good.
Fonts?
Maybe more fonts or emoji options would be a good idea, also maybe you could make your text a different color? Just a thought, although keeping the good ol' CB font would be good too.
Language options...?
Maybe you could change the language so it translates everything--I'm pretty sure most CBers on here learned through the magazine which only comes in English, but people are joining through their friends (or should), so this would be a good feature.

I like a lot of the ideas that have already been shared! I do want to share a thought though - while having accounts may have some perks, it would also cause ski lodge creators to lose anonymity and the readers to lose the ability to guess who the creator is, as well as making SIs unable to work (again to the lack of anonymity). Those two things are some very fun, unique parts of the CB, so it would be disappointing if they could no longer existed.

I agree on keeping the mouseover text! also i agree that we should get rid of the glitch where it bottoms threads the first time they're posted on, because topping would still exist. also i would like to say that we really should improve the picture uploading! sometimes things don't upload for some reason, it's hard to use, and it would be really nice if the pictures didn't get put into lower quality. also, maybe make it so you could see the picture you're posting before you post it. anyway i always find that putting something on the CB tends to blur some of the finer details and change the drawing very slightly.

plus sometimes when people upload pictures, the picture gets put sideways, upside down, or cut off.

-please keep the appearance the same (fonts, colors, captchas)
-please keep the sections the same, they work rather well
-please keep everything the same :P
-please make sure we don't lose the old threads. i've been sad all week thinking they might disappear.
