Thanks to both Allison and Emily!

@Allison: Um... tips.  Well, I received some tips from my dad, and from my friend's dad, so I might as well just pass them along.  Here's one, but it includes a backstory.  Last year, when my dad and I our first cross-country trip together, we were driving through Des Moines and this HUGE thunderstorm hit.  Right before, though, the clouds were spectacular.  They were this beautiful dark, dark shade of grey.  It also so happened that we were driving past a wind farm.  So as I looked out, I saw the bright white of a wind turbine and against the dark grey of the clouds on top of the bright green of the grass.  It was such a perfect set-up.  (My dad told me that.)  So try and set up the picture: see if you can get a really nice background that compliments whatever's in the foreground.  It makes the picture more spectacular.

Okay, and one more (which of course has a backstory as well).  I was in Europe over spring break.  At one point, I was in Prague and just walking around with my friend and her parents.  There was a big market going on in a square and I wanted to take a picture of the cathedral above it all.  I was right in the thick of the market, so there was the top of a stand in the bottom of the picture.  I wasn't really paying attention to that, but my friend's dad pointed out that the line of the stand wasn't straight in the picture.  I retook it with the line straight, and it made everything better.  So tip #2: try and keep all lines straight (unless you want them crooked, which is another story entirely :D).

I'm not very good at photography; I just love to take pictures, and I rejoice when I get to use my dad's Lumix Panasonic DMC-FZ 8 (don't worry, I don't remember that, I just happen to be staring at the camera).  I have this Olympus point and shoot camera that I got awhile ago (though actually my dad's is a point and shoot as well, just a better quality), but the pictures I take on there are pretty bad quality, so my best pictures are on the road trips when my dad is driving, so thus can't be taking pictures like he always does.  :)

Leaf: Your pictures are GREAT! I don't have enough patience to go on road trips, and I can't go on planes because my parents are afraid my little bro will have a tantrum. So for now, I'm stuck in Canada (which isn't a really a bad thing) but I live in the city so there really isn't anything worth taking pictures of. Anyone have any suggestions?

APC says PWMD. Pwnd? I didn't know you use slang.

Thanks Olive!  No, being stuck in Canada isn't such a bad thing... :)  It's a great country (from what I've heard and experienced)!  But, are you sure there's nothing worth taking pictures of in the city?  As Kimberly said, "Try and make something "boring" looking really interesting in a picture."  I bet there's somehow you can take some really cool pictures...  :)

Oh no Admin, I forgot too!!!!!!!!! :(! But do you think I could send it today and it would probly get there  Tuesday...

OK, Emily, Kimmie, and everybuggy else, we'll discuss accepting late entries this one time only, since so many of you are saying you forgot. The editors will have to discuss it, but go ahead and send your photo asap. I stress this one time only and I'm not promising, but we'll see.

Leaf: I'm in a suburby-type area. There are some trees that might be worth taking a few snapshots of, but my mom might not let me bring her iphone outside, and I'm not sure if she'll let me use the real camera (the one I took on a zoo trip won't work for some reason, I didn't break it BTW) I'll try to take some shots tomorrow, after I finish piano practice.

Okay, so I didn't take pics after piano as promised, but I took a whole bunch today using a *goes to get the camera booklet* Canon PowerShot S5 1S (I think, the font's hard to read) AKA the real camera that I thought I wouldn't be allowed to use. Now, the great things about it:

It has zoom!

Shooting options (like for Night Scene's, Foliage, Sports AKA moving things, etc.)

Flash (which I don't use)

And a bunch of other stuff. I can't wait to post them! I have learned that Sundays usually have a sun that trees tend to bask in (I think) and that zoom makes things look a lot cooler. And you can also post stuff on Photobucket and copy and paste them. And you can colour splash the pics! (it takes a bit long though, depending on how much you're splashing) I can't upload my pictures right now since the camera ran out of battery :-( but I'll post it ASAP. (If you're wondering why suddenly I'm taking a bunch of photos, it's because my friends and I are having a Picture Taking Contest for our "company" and we can enter some of the categories which we're not judging, one of the categories is Freezing Motion (thanks Cricket!) and we're not making money off this Admin, I hope that's good enough to bide the copyright issues) So now that that's done and said, my dad's going to be back from whatever he's doing outside and I can ask him about the batteries. Let's hope we have them downstairs. *crosses fingers* Laterz!

My dad charged the batteries this morning instead of last night, so I might post some of my pics l8tr. First, I want to take advantage of rain and paparazzi my bro. :-P
