Presidential Inauguration

Presidential Inauguration

Who watched the inauguration on television? What did everyone think of Obama's speech? At my school, the bell schedules were all messed up because the governor of Florida requested every child have a chance to watch it, and we all had to be in a room with a TV at 12:00. I personally thought Obama's speech was really good, he's an amazing public speaker. I also think it's really neat that he was sworn in the day after Martin Luther King Jr. day.

The speech was a bit long to an eleven-year-old girl who didn't understand most of what was being said. No hard feelings. It was still a pretty great speech. :)

P.S. William Henry Harrison's inauguration speech was two hours long, and it took place in a blizzard. Since he wasn't properly dressed, he contracted pneumonia (I'm pretty sure I spelled that wrong!) and died a few weeks later.

I saw the Inauguration on television in my house because I'm home schooled, the reason they messed up on the swearing in is because, Obama knew it by heart.  I loved his speech (even though I didn't understand half of it)!  My mom and dad's favorite part of the Inauguration was, when George Bush went back to Texas (because they didn't like George Bush that much).  I hope Obama is going to be my favorite president.Smile

We got to watch it at school.

Besides that, I have really great news!  As I have said before, our goats have been pregnant and we were expecting babies any day now. Yesterday, as I got home from school, my dad met me on the driveway and told me that there was a baby in the pasture!!!! I ran as fast as I could up our hill and sure enough, there was an ADORABLE baby, the first of several due this year! We named him Be Rocko Bama (Obama for short), in honour of his birthday being on inauguration day. I know many of you are not Obama fans, but this is a different Obama. A baby goat one!

He is so cute!!!

Yea, I got to watch it in school.  It was absoulutely amazing!  Not only that he's the first Democraticatic president in several years but that he's the 1st black president ever.  Very exciting!  And this year was especially cool, because I realized that I'll be voting in the next election :)

Actually, he's multiracial, half white and half black. There is nothing wrong with that, it's just that he is not all black.

What did y'all think of Aretha Franklin's hat? Surprised Even though I'm a Republican, I thought the inauguration was really cool, because essentially, we are living in a time period that's going to be in history books years from now. We saw it, and we can tell our grandkids about it.

Aretha Franklin's hat was a riot! My mom said she looked like the Statue of Liberty. :)

You're right about the history thing. I was writing a journal entry during the inauguration (I'm homeschooled, so that was okay with my mom/teacher) for posterity, and maybe I'll show that to my grandchildren one day. If they can read my handwriting, that is. ;)

It looks like there's a good mix of Democrats and Republicans on this site now. When there was first election talk, I thought it was all Republicans. OK, you can probably guess what I am. But that doesn't matter; it's fun here no matter what our political beliefs!

The reason the swearing in got messed up is because Justice Roberts switched aroung some of the words. Obama stopped when he got to the words that were wrong, and Justice Roberts fixed it. They redid it the next day just to make sure.

I watched it! I had school off. I think it was very nice. Plus, the speech was very good and inspiring. So much, that I almost began crying! Some kids in my homeroom class didn't watch it or just watched it because it was an extra credit thing, but I think that's selfish. I just watched it because it's history!

My step-sister works for Rahm Emanuel and her office is 18 feet from the oval office. My step-brother-in-law is deputy of communications. Ever heard of Dan Pfeiffer?
