I'm going to

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

I'm going to

I'm going to California in the summer and I haven't been there in, um, more than five years so I'm not sure what there is to do there anymore, other than Disneyland.

I'll be in the LA area which is apparently Southern California. Any suggestions?

Cool! But sorry I've never been there. I've wanted too but...I haven't been to more than three states in Austraila and I only went to Queensland once for ten days and ACT is tiny and most people who live in NSW go to Canberra at some time, only I was born in the ACT and... sorry Olive getting way off track here. So how long till we'll have to say good bye to you before you go on holiday?

I was near Palm Springs over spring break.  That was my first time in CA so I have no clue what to do in LA... sorry. :)  Have fun though!

I'm leaving in middle August and coming back in September before school starts.

Oh and guys, I'm going to go to IHOP for sure. I've heard so many great things.

Well, have fun on your vacations, everybuggy.

I'm going to be gone for about a month  in Colorado. I probably won't be posting much then, because we don't usually have internet access.

Oh, and I'll be on an overnight school trip in two weeks. ;)

I live in Southern CA!  LA has a lot to offer.  I definitely recommend checking out the city, seeing the sights.  No trip is complete with seeing the Chinese Theater and the stars, etc.  Recently, I took a really interesting tour of LA where I learned about art deco and the art deco buildings in LA.  So it might be nice to look into tours of the area.  If you have time and interest, check out the Disney concert hall; even if you don't see a concert, see the building because it's GORGEOUS.  LACMA (Los Angelos County Museum of Art) is also awesome and probably has some nice exibits on if you're into art.  Right next to LACMA is the La Brea Tar Pits where you can see tar and watch it bloop about and then try to feel how hard it is to move in the musem nearby.  It's a lot of fun to check out. :)  Those are some things I do when I go into LA, but really there is so much you can do.  I hope you have fun in sunny SoCal!

@Olive: Do you mean the International House of Pancakes? Do they not have those in Canada?

I have only been to Santa Barbara area which is a little north from Los Angeles. I do know they have lots of beaches pretty much near everywhere and the water is pretty much always cold.

Well, of course the water is always some what cold, but its usually not to bad during the summer. The beaches in La Jolla are nice.:)

Beaches are very important to me, because the ones in Canada are dirty, cold, and gross, and there's mud or rocks, not that fancy white sand. ;)

I'm apparently going to be in the Santa Clarita and LA area. So so far all the recommendations are great, guys! And they don't sound expensive!

Are there any only-in-America, or only-in-California or only-in-LA/Santa Clarita stores or food places? And I forgot to mention that I'll be going to In-and-Out. Everyone in my family seems to love it, except for me because I've never been there.

@Lizzy: Yes, I do mean the INTERNATIONAL HAUS DE PANCAKES. I'm pretty sure they're aren't any in Canada. *checks* Oh. It seems that there's one in the south edge of Hamilton (super-southern Ontario) and Niagara and a Muskoka-ish area. But they're all SUPER CLOSE to Buffalo, NY- the Niagara one might actually be in the American side- and they're all at least a two-hour drive from my place. And according to the official IHOP map, there aren't any other IHOPs anywhere else in Canada.

They have IHOPs around here.  They have interesting syrup flavors.

My last full day of school was yesterday.  We eighth-graders had a semi to celebrate.  It was so much fun.  Monday I have a ceremony.  I'm going to miss middle school.  Some of my friends are going to different high schools, and I'm going to really miss them.  My siblings have to go to school Tuesday and I don't!  Ha, ~Blue Fairy~!

I have been to California two times, but we only went to Disneyland really for entertainment. There is always the San Diego Zoo, though, which is where we are going (probably) when we go to California in July.
