Chatterbox: Down to Earth

School's starting aga

School's starting again!!!!!

Yeah... On one hand, I can't wait to get my textbooks (I love textbooks! I'm really weird!) and I like school and all, and I need to be around people again, as I've been really jumpy at noises and I've been talking quite animatedly to book characters, so it will be good for me. On the other hand, I'll have to put up with people. I don't like people. At all. I mean, I have friends, but if I don't get any classes or at least have lunch with any of my friends (for the third year in row, I swear, my school is conspiring against me) I'm going to become a hermit with books. You know, that doesn't seem like an entirely bad deal. My school is just full of jerks. And the only jerk I've had to put up with this summer is Luca (one of my book characters) and I can always threaten him with water chesnuts (he has an irrational fear of water chesnuts). Oh, and there's Claire.... but I digress.

Anyhoo, the point is the first day of school is coming! Tell me all about your first day! I want to laugh! Tell me about everything that happens! And I'll hunt this post down and post about my first day too.

I can never think on how to end a post. I'm terrible at endings. Anyhoo, buh-byez.

Today was the first day of school!!! Here's how it went:

Homeroom: Got yelled at for being to loud in the hallway. At least it was to everyone in my locker area. My friends successfully got the morning news done. My turn's next week to produce news crew. I do it every other week.

LA: Found out my teacher likes Reeses Cups. A lot. Even have a calculator of one. And he is really hyper but overall seems like a nice guy.

Math: Found out she is obssessed with edline. Edline is a website online to post grades and stuff on. She says she posts EVERYTHING we do in class on there. Then we had a normal math class.

Science: Found out this guy won't stop talking about his wife, 2 year old, and newborn. At first I thought he was going to be really easy because he is so young. Then he says he used to be a high school teacher. Dang it. He's going to be impossibly hard. But then we did this activity where we had to write whatever came into our mind from a word written down. Impossibly easy. Someone wrote down cupcakes for every single thing. He said it was fine if we were goofy as long as we learned at the same time. Seems like an overall nice guy.

SS: Love love love that teacher!!! Is super nice and she talks a lot about books. Yay :)

Gym: Teacher acted really nice because she got married over the summer. Thank Gosh. I hope it lasts.

Orchestra: Talked about everything we are going to play this year.

Homeroom: Got yelled at as a class for being to loud.

I'll tell you tomorrow how Computer Apps goes. (Yes that is a class. We have to take it. They got rid of Spanish and gave us that instead 0.o)

I really liked most of my teachers last year, In tenth grade. Except I didn't really like my science teacher because he wasn't very good at teaching, if you know what I mean. He just showed us videos and had us do these crossword puzzles. We didn't get much homework and we didn't go through things as much as I would have liked. But hey, I got an A- in the class so that's pretty good, right? I really liked my English teacher because he was pretty awesome. We got a few essays but he was nice about grading and I am pretty sure I got 100% on each of them! Plus most of the essays were fun to write. In one of them I got to write about 10 minutes of my day which I enjoyed because I like to write those kind of things. I also liked my geometry teachers (I had two different ones) because they were easy to understand and I think geometry kinda came naturally to me anyways because other people were somewhat confused and when we had to do worksheets with partners I usually had to explain what we were doing to my partner.

Anyways, I think this year will be a fantastic year! I can hear almost perfectly with my cochlear implant :) (I've had trouble with my hearing since 1st grade) and I am taking Photography for my elective (YAY!) and my school is letting everyone use ipads this year! :D

Just finished first day of school today.

My backpack was INSANELY heavy. I had to walk home with 3 binders and a textbook. I was 15 minutes late getting home.

Some bozo decided we "get" to have a separate binder for every period. No, thanks, I don't WANT six binders! (For the record, I didn't pick up six binders. I only accepted one. The other two were my regular binder and my band binder.)

Then I spent like an hour and a half doing homework because I had to fill out a million "Get to Know You" blah blah blah sheets, and then read all the information about my classes and had to sign a lot of stuff.

Now that THAT'S over, I can talk about the good stuff.

We don't have a reading log this year. That's good. I HATE reading logs. I always forget to do them and end up having to fill out the entire month the day before it's due.

In other good news, there is NO THEORY BOOK IN BAND THIS YEAR! :D :D :D :D :D :D

We just get to play concert songs all period!

(Oh, yeah. In other bad news, we "get" to play Firework, Teenage Dream, and Forget You. Hooray.)

I'm running cross country again this year. (I did it last year.) Does anyone else run cross-country?

Spammy says hnhk. That's all consonants. I can't translate it.

Echh. You're playing pop songs in BAND?? Forgive me while I retch.

Tichelli! Tichelli, Tichelli, Tichelli! We're playing his song "Abracadabra" in band this year, and I am ALL OVER IT. If you don't know it, look it up. It's fantastic.

Let's see. The fall concert kinda goes like this: "In the Forest of the King" by who knows as our opener, "Eleanor Rigby" by the Beatles (yay!),  and another thing that I don't remember the name of. It has a really cool beat, though. And then "Abracadabra" by Frank Tichelli for out closer. It's cool.

Both of you guys are lucky.  I'll take Katy Perry and the Beatles over Radetsky March and random songs by random people any day.  The only time I got to play anything I knew my entire middle school career besides the amazing Alice's Theme in 7th grade was the Pops concert.  And I don't think high school will be much better.   I still love band, though:)

18th century literature. We're reading Pamela right now and I keep having to chant "I will not apply 21st century values to a book written 300 years ago" to myself. But my professor is awesome so it all works out in the end.

12 hours and 18 minutes until I get on the school bus.  Yes, I'm that bored.  And, I found out one of my best friends is in my homeroom.  But the other one isn't.  Nyarsh.  Nyarsh. Nyarsh.  12 hours and 16 minutes until I get on the bus.  Actually, I get on at 8:02, so... 12 hours and 18 minutes again.  Grr.  12 hours and 17 minutes.  I should probably hit submit now.

Now I have to go get ready for dance. I have ballet and tap today. Tomorrow I have ballet, Thursday I have jazz and ballet, and Monday I have Pointe and contemporary.

2) Get on school bus, talk to friends for 45 minutes on school bus.

3) Get to school couple minutes late, small welcome from principal.

4) Filled out "Get to know you" stuff, listened to all this talking courtesy of my teacher.

5) Had science.  We observed a Charlie Brown cartoon.

6) P.E.

7) Math.  We played factor game.  (Note: my science and math teacher are the same person.  Yes, me knows it bad grammar.)

9) Wrote two pages of stuff we thinks teacher should know.

10) Drew on notecards

11) Had folder chaos

12) Packed up and went home

13) Came home 1/2 hour late on bus because driver a) forgot kid at school b) some kids forgot to get off at their stop.

In short, looking to be a very promising year.  I can't remember whether this is in the right order, but me thinks so.

My first day of school was yesterday.  I won't bore you with the gory details, but Pros: I love all my classes (with one exception) to death.  They are amazing. I know people in all of them.  I have a ton of friends in my lunch.  Cons: Beautiful *sarcasm* New England weather.  It rained yesterday morning and it was pretty much like Niagara Falls this morning.  I'm getting a blister from wearing not-broken-in flats in the rain for two days.  I hate Wellness and don't like the teacher.  My last class is in the absolute back of the school and my bus is in the front and then I have to walk really far to it.  So I have to go to my locker before last period.  And then carry my heavy geometry book home every day because I don't have caking time to put it caking away.

Other than that, I love high school. I am going to have so much fun!

First (and second!) day of school for me: (since they were both very different)

Day 1: Went there at nine. First class: Physics.  The teacher is Mr. C., who is very much the "I'm going to give you an oration" type. He asked everyone, "What famous person do you think of when I say, "Physics?"

Everyone is silent.

Him: Physics!

Me: *raises hand* the Doctor? (Imaginary derp face)

So yeah.

Then I had Sci-fi/Fantasy lit, which was made of pure win. The teacher, whose name I wish I could tell you because it is so awesomely cool... okay admins how about just her first name? It's Genesis. She's like twenty-five and a complete nerd and very bouncy and talkative. She's awesome. We talked about the genres and everybody's favorite sci-fi/fantasy books and the major themes in the Genres. It looks like this is going to be a good year.

The second day, I had Digital Art, in which we mainly looked at pictures of digital art and talked about what we were going to do that year. Sitting next to me was a little kid who looked about eleven or twelve and oh my gosh he was practically the spitting image of Alexander from the story I am writing. I couldn't stop having a barely contained squeefest, it was rather intense. Anyway.

And that's all for me.
