Duolingo! Atentio

Duolingo! Atention Duolingo learners! (Well, if there are any...)

This is a thread to talk about duolingo (What level are ya'll on? Which languages are you learning?), other language learning programs (or school or co-op classes, obviously), traveling abroad, and any current foreign language aspirations. You may post about Foreign Language Learning (FLL) struggles and difficulties, FLL joys and triumphs, and any time you actually got to use your FL skills.

I am learning French with duolingo, and am on level 6. I tried Rosetta Stone in 6th and 7th grades for Spanish, but I just never felt like I really learned anything with it. I can't stand when I feel like I'm just doing stuff to have done it and I don't really gather any real-world knowledge. Duolingo has been stunning (and I'm sure it would be a wonderful supplement for school classes)! I feel like I've learned more phrases and words in a month or so with duolingo that I did with literally years of RS. I have not had the chance to talk to anyone who actually speaks French (sadly), and my only previous background with French was Muzzy when I was 3 or 4. After using duolingo with such success and enjoyment, I think I might also try the Spanish Duo program someday soon!

Duo is school for me, and I'm glad it is! I'm learning French this year, and it's been really fun! I'm on level 15 right now, struggling through the Verbs Imperative. I also have a French class at my co-op, and that's really helped me as well. It's just so much fun learning with Duo, I plan to keep on through the summer, when I am not required to.

I do Duolingo French. I actually use Rosetta Stone for school, but Duolingo is great because I can do it anywhere on my phone. I also feel like I've learned alot more from Duolingo in a shorter amount of time than Rosetta Stone. I have no idea what leval I'm on, but it's probably not very high becasue I started fairly recently.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! I do remember you, I just didn't remember to thank you in this post. Thank you! Thank you thank you thank you! I love duolingo and highly appreciate your recommendation.  If you followed me it would really motivate me to get on there more, since actual people would witness my laziness.

No, it's fine! I didn't actually mean to sound that offended. It was supposed to be funny, mostly, but my sense of humor is odd. No problem!

Oh shoot. Another case of the removed username! Admin: I don't really think sharing Duo usernames would be any more problematic than NaNo usernames. There isn't any personal messaging, just public discussions about the language you are learning.

Admin: We love Duolingo! But since they don't have a kid-friendly privacy policy, we can't allow you to share usernames for that site.

For some weird reason at my school we aren't allowed to start a language until high school *sighs* , so I am done with French 1 and I will be starting French 2 as a 10th grader. I really love French and the culture. I think I will take Spanish in college or something like that. Since I am also Jewish I have been learning Hebrew pratically my whole life. I can read Hebrew but I cannot speak it. So yeah

No, certainly not an ad. I really just love this free app/website so much that I wanted to recommend it to other CBers (Lavender mentioned it here, that's how I found out about it) and see if others used it.

That was a rhetorical question. In case you haven't noticed, I'm The Critic, not The Question-asker.

I mean, I did just ask one, but, it was supposed to be kinda mean. I mean, can't anyone take my critical abilities seriously around here?

Um, ok then.  Are you a CBer? Why are posting things around the CB trying to be mean?

Are you even a CBer? If not, why bother going on?
