Fandoms Q&A

Hi. It's obvious what this is. Right? If it's not obvious, it will be. Right?

Sorry if that sounded rude but I'm grumpy and really don't feel like typing up written descriptions of stuff right now. Anyone may add questions to sections or whole new sections altogether.

1. Are you a fan of Doctor Who? (If so go ahead and answer the next questions, otherwise answer no skip this section.

1a. Were you sad when Matt Smith left?

1b. Do you like the Twelfth Doctor from what we've seen of him?

1c. Do you believe the rumors about the Master returning in the next season?

1d. Do you want the Master to return, and, if so, when?

1e. What do you think will happen in the next season?

1f. Now for the basics: Favorite Doctor?

1g. Favorite companion?

1h. Favorite monster/villain?

1i. Favorite episode?

1j. Favorite print-based story (comics or written word)?

1i. Other thoughts?

2. Are you a fan of Star Trek? (Same deal.)

2a. Do you like the original series, TNG, DS9, the JJ Abrams movies, or all of the above, and why? Which of them do you dislike? Why?

2b. Who is your favorite protagonist?

2c. Favorite antagonist?

2d. Favorite episode of any of the shows, movies, or other screen-based Star Trek media?

2e. Favorite print-based (comics or written word) Star Trek media?

2f. Other thoughts?

3. Are you a fan of Star Wars?

3a. Are you looking forward to Episode VII? Any thoughts about the casting or other announcements regarding it?

3b. Favorite protagonist?

3c. Favorite antagonist?

3d. Favorite movie (one of the six episodes please, the Clone Wars movie or other DTV ones not applicable)?

3e. Did you love or loathe the prequels?

3f. Other thoughts?

4. Are you a fan of the Marvel Universe?

4a. Do you read the comics, watch the movies, or both?

4b. How do you feel about the upcoming movies (Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men: Apocalypse, Spider-Man spinoffs, etc.)?

4c. Favorite superhero?

4d. Favorite baddie?

4e. Other thoughts?

5. Do you belong to any other fandoms? (Once again, you can also add a whole new section for your fandom, or add questions to the existing sets.)

My answers.

1. Yes

1a. No.

1b. Yes. I love Capaldi's costume and his attitude.

1c. Not sure. But I want to.

1d. Yes, and I want him to come back NOW or at least as soon as possible. Steven Moffat didn't insult him, just worries that maybe he's a little too cartoony and is feeling like "if you have a good idea, bring it" so I think it's fairly plausible.

1e. The Doctor will bring back Gallifrey from the Time War, safely, allowing for more Time Lords to be on the show. If this happens it will open up a slew of possible reintroductions, of perhaps Romana, the Rani, Rassilon, the Master, the Meddling Monk, etc.

1f. 9 and 10

1g. Clara

1h. Daleks and Master

1i. Gee! I dunno. The Doctor's Wife? Tomb of the Cybermen? Genesis of the Daleks? Who knows? I do have a fair share  of ones I really like though.

1j. Gareth Roberts' novelization of Shada, a Fourth Doctor serial which was abandoned due to a strike at the BBC.

1i. Season 8 will be awesome.

2. A little bit. I thought I'd include it as it's a popular fandom.

2a. I like the JJA movies. They're pretty much all I've seen except for a tiny bit of the original series.

2b. I don't know. Spock? Nah...

2c. Khan, as portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch.

2d. Star Trek Into Darkness

2e. None. I've got to read that Doctor Who/ST crossover...

2f. No, not a big fan of it. But maybe I will be, someday.

3. Yes.

3a. Looking forward indeed. Glad the original actors (Hamill, Fisher, Ford) are returning, and the new cast looks great. JJ seems like the perfect guy to tackle it so I'm glad he's doing it.

3b. Han Solo all the way...

3c. Gah. Darth Maul? I guess. He looks cool.

3d. Empire Strikes Back

3e. Prequels are interesting... but boring. They make for good fan food but are horrible as movies.

3f. Well, it will be pretty awesome when Star Wars is truly reborn next year.

4. Yes.

4a. Mostly movies, some of the comics.

4b. Guardians of Galaxy looks awesome. I don't know about those Spider-Man spinoffs... and I can't say about Apocalypse, but Days of Future Past was AWESOME

4c. Either Iron Man or Spidey.

4d. Loki? No. Electro? Maybe. Loki? YES!

4e. Ultron is a robot made by Hank Pim (aka Ant Man). The next Avengers movie is called Age of Ultron. They're making an Ant-Man movie. I see where they're going with this...

5. Yes. Sherlock, Portal (but not Half-Life), Muppets, Oz, etc. Long list...

So now you guys can answer and/or add questions.

Harry Potter quiz (I was wondering when this one was going to turn up):

7. Yes, I am. That is definitely classic material.

7a. Do NOT ask me that. I love everyone. If you force me, top five are Harry, Hermione, Luna, Sirius and the Weasley twins (I'm cheating here; they count as one to me).

7b. Probably Umbridge, because she is so cruel in a real life kind of way.

7c. Maybe Deathly Hallows. I nearly cried.

7d. They're making a movie of it? Okay...

7e. Order of the Phoenix. I like all of them, but that's the only one that I thought was better than the book.

7f. Maybe Patronus. Really helpful in a tight corner. Though I would love to be an Animagus.

7g. Sirius had me bawling for a while, though Tonks and Lupin was just--*sobs* And Dobby! That was just too much.

7h. No.

7i. @ BHR: I love that Alan Rickman quote! Oh my gosh, that is perfect.

Lord of the Rings Quiz (if you've only read the books or only read the movies, just answer as applicable):

8. Are you a fan of Lord of the Rings?

8a. What is your favorite book?

8b. What is your favorite movie?

8c. Who is your favorite character?

8d. What is your favorite place (in Middle Earth?)

8e. Which soundtrack from the three films is your favorite?

8f. What do you think was improved or worsened in the movies from the books?

8g. Would you call it the "greatest fantasy epic of our time?"

8h. Thoughts?

I know this fandom isn't as widespread as the others, but I had to make it anyway.

8. Yes!!

8a. The Two Towers

8b.The Fellowship of the Ring

8c. Treebeard

8d. Tricky... the Shire, or Fangorn, or Lothlorien.

8e. I don't know. They're all awesome.

8f. Well, the books' writing is a bit dense, so the movies improved that just by being movies, not books. But, the movies cut out a lot of good details (though I can't speak for the extended editions, I haven't seen those) like Tom Bombadil and Goldberry, and the scouring of the Shire at the end, and Faramir and Eowyn in the Houses of Healing.

8g. YES. J.R.R. TOLKIEN WAS A GENIUS.

8h. Lord of the Rings is amazing, and it's nice to see someone else likes it too. Thank you, fellow LotR-fan-person. (Do we have a name?)

@ Madeleine S.:

We need a name. There are Tolkienites, but there needs to be something more specifically LOTR.

Okay, because I'm pathetic, I'm going to answer my own questions.

8. Um, duh.

8a. The Fellowship of the Ring.

8b. The Two Towers.

8c. Top three are: Samwise Gamgee, Eowyn, and Aragorn. In the movies, add Gandalf.

8d. The Shire, Rohan and Minas Tirith.

8f. I don't care too much in how the plot was jumbled up, but I wish they had either cast Faramir differently, or kept his part more similar to the books. I also wish the Houses of Healing part had been kept in. There was a little bit of it in the extended RotK, but there wasn't nearly enough of Eowyn's whole shift of mindset from warrior to nurturer.

8g. Of course! No one can compare to Tolkien.

8h. Maybe I ought to redo that LOTR fanpage. I don't think Madeleine was around when it was up.

Okay, idiot me, forgets to answer 8e. I created this quiz. How can I forget a question?

8e. I love May It Be and Into the West, but I think from the pure music perspective, Two Towers wins. The Evenstar track always makes me melt. Literally. I need someone to sweep the pieces of me back together when it's over.

1. YES. Moffat ruined it, though.

1a. I came close to crying.

1b. KIDNEYS. (That is to say, heck yeah!)

1c. The Master was boring. I doubt he'll return.

1d. I found him rather boring, so I don't really care.

1e. I don't know. I'm betting that the relationship between Clara and 12 will be similar to the relationship between Rose and 9.

1f. Any of the Doctors from the revival, really. 4 is also pretty good.

1g. Um...Donna, probably. She's just so sarcastic. I loved it.

1h. Daleks. Always the Daleks. Also, the Cybermen.

1i. Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead. Also the finale of season 6.

1j. Shada. Douglas Adams is just fantastic.

1k. If you skipped 9, we can't be friends.

2. Not really.

3. No.

4.  YES.

4a. I've only seen the movies in the Marvel Avengers franchise. I want to see the Spiderman movies, though.

4b. I haven't heard much about them.

4c. Either the Hulk or Black Widow.

4d. Loki.

5. Of course! Mostly anime. I'm a big fan of Attack on Titan. And A Song of Ice and Fire. (I don't really care if this thread was intended for TV fandoms; I'm talking about books.)

I'm sadly not in any of the fandoms listed here- but I'm commenting to give a shout-out to all the fandoms I am in, and to see if anyone else has read them (they're all books.) They are Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, PJO, Artemis Fowl, Leviathan series by Scott Westerfeld (side note about this one: I saw the word Dalek in several comments, and Dalek is also the ship name of the two main characters in Leviathan, and it makes me laugh) and Tamora Pierce's Emelan books (those are the ones centered around Sandry, Tris, Daja, and Briar, and other ambient mages.) As you can see, I'm more into fantasy stuff than sci-fi. Anyone else feel that way?

Also, if anybuggy's read Tamora Pierce, I'd like to chat, because not enough people know her work!

Um, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fandom just appeared, if you care to answer those questions. They are somewhere in the middle of all the posts.
