Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Homeschool!I

Homeschool!

I start homeschool in a week now. I'm going into 10th grade. I would like to know any of you homeschoolers' schedules and curriculum. I could go on FOREVER about this stuff.

So here's mine.

7:00-9:00 Breakfast and getting ready and helping my younger sister (each of us older kids is responsible for a younger sibling)

9:00-12:00 Teaching my younger sister (I VOLUNTEERED to do this; my parents didn't make me do it)

12:00-1:00 Lunch

1:00-2:00 I either take a walk, jog, bike, meet some friends for a game of badminton, or some kind of excercise

2:00-4:00 Extra activities

4:00-6:00 Schoolwork (Note: I'm doing school in the evenings; it suits my schedule way better)

6:00 Dinner

6:00-7:00 Finish school

7:00-9:00 Meet with friends, go on the computer, hang out with my family, whatever

This is a very rough schedule. It sounds all neat and tidy when it's written down, but it's way more hectic than that. Those "extra activities"? On Mondays, my family and I go to a homeschool group, where we have classes, go on field trips,  or just hang out. On Tuesdays, I work on a project at a lab at the local community college. On Wednesdays, I don't have anything planned. I usually spend this time with my friends. On Thursdays, I have debate. On Fridays, we all go to the mosque. On the weekends, I tutor younger kids at the library, and I volunteer at a nursery home once a month.

How about you guys?

Oh, I love how you volunteer at so many places! I wish I could do that, but so far, Ihave to wait for co-op to start up again. Here's my rough schedual for ninth grade.

9:00 We should be starting school by now. Note that "should be."

9:00 - 12:00 I do penmanship (if it's a Monday or a Tuesday) AlgebraII (If it's a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednsday) or review of Algebra I (If it's a Friday). Then we do a review of the past week's art (if it's a Tuesday). Then, I try and get some French done, or some of whatever needs attention from my afternoon class (which always begins in the morning, for some reason.). And I fix my math. (My math always has to be fixed. If there was a day nothing had to be fixed, I think I would die of surprise.)

12:00ish - I read, write, crochet, watch a video with my sisters, or work overtime if I need it.

12:30 Lunch

1:00 on Mondays and Wednsdays, 2:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays Meet with my dad on Chemistry, History, and Literature. Those are my "afternoon class" subjects, and I work on them whenever I need to get it done. I usually have a lot of it.

An hour later, I start to work on whatever needs to be done to make all of the deadlines for my afternoon class work.

3:15 on Mondays and Wednsdays - I eat a snack and get dressed and ready for karate. On T. and Th., I keep on working.

4:00 om T and Th. - Eat snack, possibly stop working. At this point, it's work till there's nothing you have to do.

5:45 on M. and W. -  Come home, posssibly do some class, if not, relax.

6:30 - Eat dinner.

I usually claim the computer somewhere between six and seven thirty, and I have fun in the other time. You'll notice this schedual is a lot of if it's a Monday or Wednsday or whatever - Butterfly and I, being in a grade higher than the fifth, have classes with my father, so one of us goes in at one, and the other at two, and we take turns on who goes when.

As for Friday, I have 8:30 - 3:00 at a co-op and I have other classes there. So we have fun. :)

I'm going into 8th grade.

My Tentative (I haven't started school yet.) Schedule:

7:00-8:30 or 9:00 Wake up, get ready, and eat breakfast.

9:00-12:00 Do school

12:00-1:00 Lunch

1:00-3:00 More school, paper routes, chores, or free time

3:00-5:00 Sports or the same things as 1:00-3:00

5:00-6:00 Supper

6:00-9:00 If there is no soccer game free time and school

9:00-10:00 or 11:00 Get ready for bed and go to sleep

It changes a lot depending on which sports I am doing what other events are happening on the particular day.

It usually changes the most between 1:00 and 6:00.

Anytime before 9:30 get up.

Good luck!! I kept trying to have schedules when I was homeschooled but never had the self discipline. This year I'm finally leaving homeschool, just my personal preference. I hope it goes well this year for everyone!

@ True I used to have co-op the the same day and time for almost my whole life.

My "Schedule"

9:00-3:00 I attempt to get all my school done but usually fail because it's insane having to do school work in a house with all nine of my siblings.

Wow! You have nine siblings? You're so lucky! I have five.

@Forrest Me too! My schedule is just an idea of when I do stuff. I don't have a schedule when I do school. It changes so much depending on what I have on a particular day.

XD Cool! I wonder if they were the same ones. That would be creepy. (What state or area of the US/world do you live in if you can say?) I like how it's at the end of the week, so it kinda feels like a weekend, and you don't have to shuffle school around one free day. Before this co-op, I went to one that met  on Friday, just from like nine to twelve. It was a lot smaller, too.

Do you still go to that co-op?

I live in northern Utah. That is all I shall give.

I don't really have a timed schedule, I just sort of divy up the assignments from Co-Op over the week.

Taxicab: ohza What's so ohzappy? (I just made that word up. I will now use it forever)

@Bookbug, sometimes it's fun to have nine siblings, but most of the time it's annoying. I get no privacy whatsoever, always have to share a room, and we only have two bathrooms so you can imagine what that's like.

@Wren:

I guess it would get annoying. I feel that way a lot with my siblings. But I always feel extremely blessed to have such a big family.

I'm bad at schedules, but here goes.

5:30 wake up and pray

6:00 to about 8:00 memorize Qur'an lesson

8:00 to 9:00 go outside and excercise.

9:00 to 9:20 breakfast

9:30 start schoolwork

1:00 finish school and lunch break

2:00 recite old Qur'an lesson

3:00 to 7:00 play, hang out, do whatever

7:00 or 7:30 dinner

8:00 wash dishes

8:30 family time and also finish whatever school was left or maybe chat with friends

9:30 pray then start the long journey to bed

11:00 sleep

And the schedule varies a lot, depending on what day it is, as on Friday we go to the mosque, and stuff is always happening. So yeah.
