Allergies & Digestive Problems

At Jenni's suggestion, this thread is about allergies and digestive problems. What are yours? I am allergic to strawberries, and I can't digest a lot of foods other kids like. I,e, ice cream, cookies, cake, etc. Yesterday in Hebrew School our class had a party (long story) and I forgot to bring something like raisins that I could eat, so it was hard for me. :( But that's okay. I've been on this diet since my sister (who has autism) was seven. Now she's almost fifteen, so we've been on it for about eight years. We get used to it. What about you?

Hey, I was gonna do that!

Right! Alergies..........

I'm allergic to:

Milk

Eggs

Beef

Peanuts

Walnuts

Pecans

Orange juice (but, oddly enough, I can take oranges in moderate amounts)

For non-allergic peoples out there, I have some questions.

What does ice-cream taste like?

What do scrambled eggs taste like? (I can't have any bird eggs at all, not just chicken!!)

And I'll be back with more questions when I think of them............

I'm SOO sorry you're allergic to all that food!!!  I think that you'd be good friends with my friend (who moved!!!!!!!!), because she's allergic to about a million things. :(:(:(:(

Now, to answer your questions:

Ice cream...  Ummm.... Sugary. :) Well, actually, it depends on the flavor.  Vanilla bean tastes, umm, have you ever smelled vanilla extract?  The ice cream tastes like what the extract smells like. :) The chocolate, ummm, I haven't had chocolate ice cream in a looong time, so I can't remember!!!  Sorry!!!!!  It's cold on your lips, and desolves quickly.  Sort of like sherbet (is that how you spell it?!)! :D:D Can you have sherbet???? :):)

Scrambled eggs...  Hmmm...  Sort of weird tasting...  I don't know how to describe them!!!  I can cook the best ones, though, that taste VERY peppery and cheesy! :)

Also, I have problems with chemicals, so I eat organic food most of the time, so I don't get sick. Like, detergent gives me headaches! When my dad drags me into Home Depot or Lowe's, I literally get sick!

What does peanut butter taste like?

And I'm not sure if I can have sherbet, some types still have milk in them.

But I can have this brand called Toffutti, it's like, ice cream but made with soy or something, with dark chocolate.

Note:

Dark Chocolate=no milk

Chocolate=milk

White Chocolate= whatever, I have no idea.

My dad always gets mad when he sees Hershey's "Dark Chocolate" and it has MILK in it!!!! Basically, the reliable brands for Dark Chocolate are Lindt and um.....I can't remember right now, but all the American brands have milk, even in the Dark Choclate.

GAH!!!

Hey, Jenni, you should REALLY go veggie!!! I'll help you if you want to try it, just for one week even!!! Paige, Laura, and a few others tried it: I did a challenge for them, and they did it!!! It isn't SO hard!!!

But, without a little bit of meat, I hardly get any protein!!!

So I couldn't really go vegan................

And I wouldn't be able to live without fish or sushi..........

*begins to drool*

California Rolls..........

Icura (salmon roe) mixed with raw tuna, shredded daicon (radish) and shredded mountain potatoe, then put on fresh rice............YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!

Tarako (cod roe) on rice.............

Tuna salad.....................

*drools harder*

ok I'm making myself hungry................

I think I communicated my point though, that I wouldn't be able to live without fish.

One more delish

Salmon sauteed with fresh spinach, and shredded daicon, miso soup, and rice on the side!!!!

There are vegan versions of all that!! And even if you don't think you can take being veggie, you COULD try it for just one week!! Please!? *puppy dog face to rival Jenni's*

Sorry, am I being too pushy?! I just thought you could try it!! It would be cool!!
Sorry, pushyness again . . . :)

I could try, but my mom probably wouldn't understand.........and push me to eat the meat anyway, like she asways does. I guess she wants me to get enough protein..........

I was wondering about ice cream myself, so thanks, Paige! I can have scrambled eggs, but I personally don't like them much.

Ice cream is really cold. When you take a spoonful in melts in your mouth. It's a kind of creamy texture, and the flavor of it depends on what flavor you buy. :)

Scrambled eggs mostly just taste like they smell. The texture's kind of hard to explain.

I'm not allergic to anything, but I do have some digestive issues.  Not, like you though!!!  I feel so sorry for you!!!!! :(:(:( Wait, if you can't eat ice cream, cookies, or cake, what do you have on your birthday?!?!?! :(:(:( Pie???? :):)

The only thing that the doctors say I can't have is (sniff, sniff) corn!!!!!! (which means no delicious corn on the cob made by my dad, no popcorn (!!!), no baby corn (I like baby corn, unlike most people), and pretty much anything made of corn!!!! :(:(:( There're certain foods I try to avoid, because they cause stomach issues and heartburn, like ice cream (I still eat it sometimes...), acidic foods (tomatoes, lemons, limes, etc), pizza and any other greasy food, anything fried such as fried dough (it's really big in Maine), and last, but not least, ANYTHING PROCESSED (pretty much)!!!!!

I should've made that clearer. I can't have ice cream, cake, cookies, etc., in the traditional way. Like, with sugar and food coloring and icing and all that stuff. However, my dad makes really good alternatives!

I'm sorry about your digestive problems. I can't have corn either. :(

I don't have any of that stuff! I feel sorry that you can't eat any of that stuff :( Don't worry, ice cream isn't THAT wonderful. It's good tasting, but there's a lot of good food out there for you!

Fried dough?  I'm sorry, but, EW!!  That would make me feel sick.   :)

Uh...  I love baby corn.  Poor you!!!  I won't go on and on about how much I love corn.

I feel sorry for all you people!!!  I can't describe things like ice cream and eggs.  They just taste like what they are!!  Sorry!

Yeah, I know!! Fried dough is nasty!!!! :):):) Just, in Maine at least, it's always sort of humorous when you tell people you can't eat it, because, well, Mainah's aren't always the healthiest of people... :):):) They REALLY like fried anything!!! Bleh!!! :P:P
