Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Who else here

Who else here homeschools? I, for one, am proud to be a 'weird, unsocialized homeschooler'!

Of course, homeschoolers are NOT 'unsocialized'. In my opinion, when you think about it, it's kind of the other way around. Kids in schools are the one who sit in a classes all day with kids their own age. I think homeschoolers get out and do more things than kids in school. What do you think?

If you do homeschool, have you always homeschooled? Do you like it? I would love to talk!

Sadly no, I'm in CA, remember? I go to CAVA. (I assume you are referring to k12 schools?)

WTMA is an online homeschool program where you can take classes from. I was thinking you might go because there's someone in my class that reminds me of you. It's for grades 6-12. Kids from all over take classes there. There are even some kids from England.

I AM!!!

So, I'm im 7th grade. When I was 5 and about to go the kindergarten, I was still pretty little. Like, little little. And since me and my parents lived out in the middle of nowhere, the bus ride was going to be like 45 minutes BOTH WAYS. So, my mom decided to do kindergarten at home. Then 1st grade  And so on.

BUT!!!! Next year I will be taking some classes at the middle school by our new house! I really want to take the vocal music stuff that they have, and my mom wants me to take a core class before high school so that I know how to study for stuff, so currently math and science are on the line. I really want to take math, just cause I'm gonna be about 1/3 of the way through my Algebra 1 book by the end of the year, so I'll have a little time next year to adjust to taking a class before it gets any more complicated.  Now, my mom wants me to do science because, as a Christian, I am going to be constantly bumping up against evolution in my science, and since next year my confirmation class will be taught by my pastor, she thinks it's a good idea to do it then so that I can ask Pastor Luke any questions that I might have.

Soooo yeah. Tada!

I'm homeschooled and I've only ever set foot in a school for a play my friend invited me to. I'm proud of it.

OH YEAH!!!!! I'm homeschooled, and I absolutely LOVE IT!!!!!

I'm in 8th grade right now, and would be in 9th grade next year.

The only real class I take is band at our nearby middle school, which is fun.

I'm homeschooled and I love it!! I went to private school until third grade, when we (me and my little brother) started homeschooling.

And Bookish Texan, I have the same problem! Everyone that's not homeschooled that I talk to asks "Do you have any friends? How do you make friends?" And it bothers me so much because yes, I have friends, and I probably have just as many friends as you, if not more.

But yeah. I really do like it though. I have a lot more free time than kids in public or private schools. (No homework! *cheers*)

I don't have any friends at all in real life, just online friends. I can get really sad about it sometimes.

Yeah. I have so few, I'm usually depressed about it 50% of the time.

I love being homeschooled--today, I only had four things in school because I finished math and one of my sciences!!!! I only have two things left for today, piano and general science. (My sister is already done with school and is relaxing right now. Tongue outAnd so am I since I'm typing right now, I guess! But I've got to get back to work after lunch.)

I love homeschooling! I have been homeschooled for all of my life except for preschool. The only sad thing about it is that most of my friends are my parent's friends' kids or my older sister's friends' little sisters. Did that sound confusing or what? I don't think there is one friend who I have made all by myself. *tear* Oh, wait, actually I thought of one, and some more, of course, you guys! If you guys count. Oh, wow, that sounded rude, sorry about that. I should probably stop typing this up and just read. Reading is good. *slaps head* It's been a long day.

I love being an "unsocialized" homeschooler! I've been homeschooled all my life. I think socialization depends on the circumstance. I have friends from Church, choir, and the Co-op sort of thing I go to. I also like being homeschooled because I definitely wouldn't fit in at regular school. Homeschoolers rock!! Whistler says nimo. We don't have any Limos!
