I'm sorry. I

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

I'm sorry. I

I'm sorry. I really am. I get how this is. I remember reading these threads from other CBers and feeling really sad. but I'm just going to say it.

CB, I'm leaving.

I love it here- or I did, anyways- and you have all given me such good times, but I feel like it's dead. The CB I used to know is slowing down, or I'm just growing up. I was going through a pretty rough time in my life when I found this, I was moving and had no friends, so I think this made me feel, well, connected. Happy. Wanted. But now I have friends and this place just doesn't seem the same. I don't feel like I know anybody here. I tried to connect, but it never really happened. I think the time has come to move on.

TARDISrider leaned against on of the tables, or threads, in the CB. The large convention center with people milling and chatting. Commenting on threads and hurring up to the huge round tables to RP. But nobody noticed Rider, Ditty and Taxicab, standing at one of their few threads.

Rider stroked Taxi's head. Ditty eyed the doors. "You think it's time to go?" She asked softly. Rider closed her eyes as a burst of laughter exploded from somewhere in the center.

"Yeah," she sighed, rubbing her eyes. "Yeah, maybe." She glanced at Ditty. "Thanks for being an awesome AE. Sorry I didn't use you much." Ditty smiled.

"You want to announce it?" She suggested. Rider scoffed, but Taxi nodded at her. Rider gathered breath deep into her lungs.

"I'm leaving!" She shrieked. "You all have been awesome and-" More laughter from another RP. Nobody even heard her. Rider leaned against the table.

"And, I've had good times here..." She trailed off, her voice weakening. One person smiled at her sympathedically, before being yanked into another conversation. Ditty shrugged.

"Well, whacha gonna do?" Rider smiled wryly.

"Bye, then," She muttered to whoever may be listening. Nobody was but Taxi And Ditty. Rider straightened her back, turned towards the huge double doors, and shoved them open. Bright sunlight flooded the convention center.

"Oh!" Said the person at the nearest thread. "You're leaving? Too bad. Have fun out there!" Then somebody else started talking. Rider stepped outside and stretched, slipping her pen out of her pocket. She spun the pen in one hand as she strolled down the city streets. Skyscraper websites, little blog buildings, YouTube channel stands, all crowding the busy sidewalk. Ditty nodded towards one of the blog shops.

"I heard you might be looking into one of those?" She suggested. Rider spun the pen.

"Yeah, maybe. But for now, let's just..." She didn't finished. She examined the pen, that could do so much, only some plastic and ink. "Let's just see what happens." She turned back one more time at the CB, wondering about heading back, but then turned to face the city, the whole huge world. "Let's just write," she whispered.

Like I said, I'm going to miss you all. Thank you for helping me through the times when I had no friends. Goodbye.

All right then...here's my contribution.

Someone yells as a girl races through the building, trying to catch up to another girl, who exits the CB, slamming the door. Rose, who was deeply engrossed in a RP a few seconds ago, turns around. The holographic image of a boy with his shirt on backwards flickers in front of her. Rose recognized the girl. So did the flickering image, who turned away from other CBer's holographic images. He started to fight his way through the RP, trying to get out of the RP, but that wasn't aloud. Rose looked around frantically for the admins, who kept order, but there were none in sight.

"Seth! STOP IT!" Rose hissed in anger. Several other CBers were watching her now. Why oh why had she created such an uncontrolable character? Quickly, Rose pushed a bright blue button, and the boy disappeared. Next to her, she saw her friend Katydid.

"She's gone," Katy said quietly. Rose realized that she, too, had sent her charrie down into the RP on the floor below, which they could see by looking over the glass walls surrounding the colorful pit. The two girls sat at the thread table, looking over into the RP.

"I can't beleive...Rider..." Katy started.

"We'll all miss her," Rose replied.

"Better get Seth away from Giniva. I think they're plotting something," Katy warned after a few seconds of silence.

"Okay," Rose bud said, sighing.

"I'm going to check to make sure Katara hasn't killed anyone else," Katy said, walking off to another table, her eyes downcast.

"Hey, remind the admins to hang up the black curtains!" Rose called after her, "another CBer has left us."

"Will do," Katydid replied faintly, then she disappeared. Rose bud stared at the closed door for a long, long time, thinking.

"I can't believe...she didn't—" Katy started.

"We'll miss her," Rose bud finished. After a few moments of silence, Katy got up.

"I suppose I should go make sure Katara hasn't killed anybod else. You'd better get Seth away from Giniva. I think they're plotting something."

"All right then," Rose said without looking up. Katy walked away, her eyes downcast. Rose bud stared at the curtains draped over the huge windows. They had magically turned to black. Another CBer had left. Rose bud sat and stared for a long, long time.

l do understand what you feel, l've felt it before myself. But...if it's you want to leave, it is your choice. We will remember you, we will not forget.

Good-bye, TARDISrider, and look ahead for brighter days.

I'm walking out of the Ski Lodge, and my other AE joins me, and lists all her reasons not to join Ski Lodges.

"..And they may cause post-traumatic stress disorder, too!" she exclaims.

"Okay" I reply, but I'm more intrested in the commotion coming from DtE.

"Bibliophile, are you even listening?"

"Sorry." I tell her, and I know I'm going to be ranted upon.

"How rude. Really, sometimes I'm the CBer."

"Sorry, Isadora, I've got to go." I say. Some CBers are headed towards DtE, with worried looks on their faces. I hurry after them, Isadora's complaints at full volume behind me.

As I walk in to DtE, I see TARDISrider step out of the Cricket Chatterbox building, and it's like a brick hit all of us in the face. She/he's leaving. Everybuggy's quiet, even the AEs and CAPATCHAs. It seems like the whole world stops for a moment, until a few worried CBers call out 'don't leave', and there are some who half-shout 'pop in every once in awhile!'. And some of us just whisper, 'it's okay', and watch.

We'll miss you, Somebody. But it's okay.

TARDISrider stood outside one of the YouTube channel stands on the street. She glanced back at the CB. She could never bring herself to wander far. Ditty glanced at her.

"What?" She demanded. "Are you okay?" Rider nearly burst into tears.

"Oh, who am I fooling!" She wailed. "I can never leave the CB! I'm going back!" She hurried through the crowded streets and eventually burst back into the ChatterBox. "I'm sorry I made you all sad when I said I was leaving!" She shouted. "I'm back! I can never bear to leave this place! You all are so nice and I've always felt happy and welcome and accepted here and I can't leave! I'm sorry for that super sad goodbye thread but I'm back!" She sighed with relief nd leaned against one of the nearest threads. "I'm back." She whispered, only to herself, glad for the wide grins at her return. "I've never been alone here."

Yes, I'm back! I'm sorry I mad this super emotional thread, but I can't leave this place.

*hugs*

TARDIS burst back into the CB, yelling something. Cho streaked towards her, hugging her and whispering, "None of us can truly leave. Unless they have grown up. And I didn't think you were there yet."

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no!!!!! You-you can't be leaving! Scylla's mind screamed. She had seen TARDISrider, hidden in shadow, wreathed in the mist of untold stories. After all this time... But all things must come to an end, good or bad. And I can't force TARDISrider to stay here if she doesn't wish to. She stepped from the darkness, breathing deeply as she headed for the exit of the CB. Head held high, she walked slowly, stately towards Rider and her family.

"TARDISrider." Scylla's voice echoed through the atrium of the CB. The girl turned around. "Yes?"

Scylla swallowed a lump in her throat. I need to be strong. "I would like to have a few parting words," she said, struggling the keep the waver out of her voice. "TARDISrider... where do I start? You read through my whole ski lodge, as long as it took... You were loyal to the end, supporting me, cheering me on. You and your AE and CAPTCHA were wonderful characters for me to work with, even though you got eaten by a shark..."

TARDISrider chuckled softly.

"You were always there, albeit somewhat in the background, but you were always there," Scylla continued, voice clearer, more steady. "You always offered advice and ideas, and wrote important posts on your beautiful story format.

"But you're leaving now. We'll have no way to see you again, no way to talk to you, no way to share with you.

"And that's okay. You're leaving, and we can't stop you. You have a life to live, a destiny to fulfill. And if that destiny doesn't involve the CB, then so be it. You have been a great friend to us all.

"Live well, TARDISrider. Enjoy your days until they've gone, live every moment as if it's your last. You more than deserve it. Good luck in whatever you do, wherever you go. Fear is a stone, may yours be light always."

I feel like such an idiot right now-- Only after I made my post did I read th thread, and now I found out that TARDISrider is staying. Wow. So my post up there was pretty much pointless. Well, many things in life are so I don't know why this comes as a surprise... I'm overthinking this. Bye.

No, it wasn't pointless, Scylla. It's a poignant tribute.
