Sports and stuff

I'm not sure how many CBers play sports, or what season is going on for ya'll right now, but I want to talk about athletics! Do you watch sports? Do you play sports? Tell me all about it!

I think high school has different seasons than junior high, so because I'm in junior high we are in the middle of girls' basketball season. My team is decent, we have a winning record (5-4). Also, our school is super tiny, so we only have 5 girls! Luckily, a fourth grader and a fifth grader play up with us. Yeah, so, I love basketball, it is really fun and keeps me in shape. Do any of you play/watch basketball? If so, I'd love to hear about it!

I have another announcement that is pretty exciting- my school's girls' cross country team got third in state! Yay!!! I wasn't on the team, but I heard that they did really good. Also, my school has this thing called Speech, which is sort of a sport/competition. You can perform a momologue, duet, trio, or group speech, which is pretty much a skit with no props except for tables and chairs. You choose the speech but they are already written, and you have to have your lines memorized. It is so fun, and the Speech Contest is coming soon, so wish me luck! I'm doing a trio speech about this summer camp with a mean director, and I'm worried because the girl I'm doing it with doesn't have her lines memorized, and the contest is October 5th! Ahhh! I think the other boy I'm doing it with and I will have to memorize her lines so we can prompt her. Another part of speech is Improv, which is exactly what it sounds like- the judge will give you a line and you improvise for two minutes with a partner or group. I'm doing it with my friend. Pray for me on October 5th, I'm super nervous!

It is not volleyball or softball season for me, but I play both. I am a catcher in softball, which is really great because I am constantly doing something, either catching pitches or throwing it back to the pitcher. Volleyball is fun as well. I can't wait for these seasons to start!

Also, THE WORLD SERIES! It's time, people! Who do you want to win? My team, the White Sox, is terrible and didn't make it to the playoffs, so I'm not sure who I want to win. Thoughts on this? Wow, this thread is getting long, and I'm forgetting so many sports! (Football, Swimming, Tennis, etc.) Please feel free to talk about any sport! I can't wait to see what you guys have to say!

Well....um..I...er....I do ballet?

Though I'm awful at leaps and stuff that requires flexibility (which is pretty much everything)

I'm OK with running short distances  especially at church after service when everyone goes outside to play  spider in the web:P I swear its like a tradition....

I also do acting wich CAN be strenuous but usually isn't:)

What is spider in the web? I've never heard of it.

It's pretty much the exact same thing as swim fishy swim, the "it" tries to catch everyone else and then they're all it and it keeps going on and on and on and on.   Hope that makes sense (though it doesn't)

As athletic as I am (not to brag), I don't play many sports. I do Irish Dance,  but many people don't consider that a "sport." Well, I do! My favorite thing to say people that say that is what my old dance teacher used to say. "I used to do running before I switched to Irish Dance. I didn't regret it, and I still dont. I'm in better shape here than I ever was running." Thank you!!!!!!!

That turned into a rant...sorry guys.

Well, I do competitive Irish Dance, and I swim (just for fun. I'm not on a team or anything) a little. And I play a little tiny basketball (DEFINITELY not professionally or anything) and kickball (yep. You guessed it-not professionally) with my cousins and grandpa. One day, I'd like to run in one of those charity marathons. I do a few races with my cousins and friends every so often. Since I'm homeschooled, I don't have access to too many sporty endevours, if that makes sense.

I do love watching almost everything on the olympics. Gymnastics and swimming are my s (w)ummer faves, and ice skating and skiing for winter. I am shocked that skateboarding is in the olympics for 2020 and Irish Dance still isn't ...I know that sounds stupid but. ..see rant above. I'm not getting into that again.

@The Riddler, same here, but with my mom and football.  I can't stand the stuff, personally.

I LOVE playing softball and skiing!!! I'm also thinking about signing up for cross country next year because my friend and my cousin both do it and say it's really fun. I really can't wait for winter and spring for softball and skiing. I also really like to watch football, and some baseball. I haven't seen any Red Sox games lately which I'm kind of ashamed of. I haven't really been paying attention to how they're doing. I've watched all of the Patriots games that have been at reasonable times though.

Yes! Someone else who watches baseball! I'm watching the World Series right now, in fact. Even though I'm not a Cubs fan (I'm a White Sox girl), I'd like them to win the World Series since they haven't won in like, 100 years. Also, my mom's boss promised they'd get a day off of work if the Cubs won, so... that would be awesome for her! Yeah, where I live we have some die-hard fans, but I guess they have those everywhere. Also, what position do you play in softball? Do you pitch?

I'm  watching , too ! Go , Cubs !

Oh, and I forgot. I love rock climbing, although I've only done it inside so far. I did 2 12 week sessions of classes at a gym near my house, and I'm doing it again now. The only problem is, the guy that runs the classes wants to take us outdoor climbing, and I'm TERRIFIED!!!

I love rock climbing too! Are you going to to bouldering or top roping outdoors?

I've never climbed outdoors, only in a gym. It does sound sort of scary, but I'm sure it won't actually be.

I do gymnastics! I think you all probably know that. I'm a level six and I do it competatively. I really love it and my favorite event is bars. It's so much fun!!!

@Bluebird- No, I don't pitch in softball. I don't have a position tht I always play because unless you're in 8th grade, you don't have a specific position that you're assigned to. Last year my team had 6th-8th graders, and I was in 6th grade so I was always either in the outfield or on the bench. I hit really well though and I was so proud when my coach told me that I was a great batter.

@Applejaguar- When I ho outdor climbing I think I'll be doing lead climbing and maybe top roping, but probably not bouldering.

I fence and I used to take classes in parcoure, but now I can't. I am horrible at soccer, tennis, and a sport called pickle ball, but I'm not so bad at softball, handball (look it up! They play it in the olymics!) and swimming. I used to swim competitively, but now I don't. I also like basketball.

The Cubs won the World Series! Yay! I'm still pretty excited even though I'm not a fan.

Me, too! In my central Illinois neighborhood, people ran outside when they won and screamed up and down the street, "Cubs win! Cubs win!" And fireworks boomed into the air. What an exciting, nail-biting game.

Yes I have! I remember last year people were saying the Cubs were going to win. They were only one year off!
