Chatterbox: Down to Earth

*gasp-sobs*C

*gasp-sobs*

Coco and I are moving to Japan. In March. We might have to leave our dog and go to public school.

I don't want to do either. I know leaving the chickens is definetly happening, but -- I've lived in NC all my life, moving once to another house forty-five minutes away. And now we're moving to another country for three years.

@Cockle, if you see two identical twin boys with a sister about the same height as them (the family is really short) and they kids all have ash-blond hair, and one or both of the boys is wearing glasses-- well, never mind.

The boys would be so freaking scared if you approached them out of nowhere. Don't do it. XD

Although it would be hilarious to see their faces.

@Daisy. I'm going to miss you so much. It doesn't look like you're going to be able to come over for Haloween, but it does sound like I'll be able to get an email. Let's hope for the best.

*turns away sobbing*

Well, hey, at least I'll still be able to still do Cricket.

Don't worry, I will. I may drift a bit in March, but I'll be active. Also, I live in NC.

Japan? Wow, that's a big change. I'm really bad at comforting people, but I'm sorry you have to go. Moving can be really hard, no matter how it's glamorized in books. I'm glad we'll still see you around on CB <3

Too true. I've only moved once, but it was difficult. Well, it did help I had no friends ... :/

Oh, Cho!
Everything will be all right. You're not leaving forever-- only for a few years; another subtle tint enhancing the spectrum of the prism of your life.

Many people must go to different, more lonely measures to make inter-national voyages-- exchange programs, college studies, highly cost-exorbitant touring accomodations, etc.  You're about to experince something that will make a vast difference in your life; a chance to see and live a spring-new world. Its all right to be homesick-- normal and perhaps even healthy-- but you'll be coming back so soon, and in the meantime you have what might be a once-in-a-lifetime-chance to experience the culture and landscapes and life-style of Japan.

When you return home, as Bilbo the hobbit does from his adventure, you will not be the same-- but, like him, it will most certianly be for the better. And, like him, your new experinces will both inform and enrich your American home. Have courage, have faith, and have hope. Your ship awaits you in the harbor-- all you have to do is board.

I pray that you have safe passage and a voyage as precious and beautiful as you yourself.

God keep you!

Oh, Esthelle. You won't believe how much that helped me. I want to print out what you said and put it in my pocket. That's how much help it was. Thank you.

JAPAN???

Oh boy, I'm so sorry, Cho. That sounds really hard...I hope you can keep your dog! Poor you, and Daisy. At least it's not 'till March. And you'll come back in three years. (Unless you get super attached to some exotic food and you can't possibly leave...XD...)

Well, you will definetely have to keep us posted. (Oh, haha. Very dumb, Leafpool.) Actually, that wasn't intentional. I actually have lived in the same house nearly my whole life, (we moved to it right before I turned one) so I can't imagine what it's like. I'm lucky, I guess.

Anyway, we'll be here for you.

I'm sad for you, but happy at the same time! The Japanese langauge is so pretty!

Tips for learning an Asian language:

Learn the meanings of the radicals. It'll help you remember which character is which.

Learn the pictographs first, they are super easy because they are all pictures of things.

Ideographs are the next easiest. The character for "bright" is the character for "sun" next to the character for "moon." I'm serious. Look it up.

Get the stroke order right the first time you write a character. It'll get stuck in you rbrain, like learning to ride a bike. You can't unlearn biking. You also can't unlearn the wrong stroke order.

For name choosing, Asian names are really symbolic. They are similar to Native American names, like Sparkling Water or Mighty Mountain. They are really cool to make up, so make up a lot of them before choosing one!

Make flashcards for new characters.

Write characters in the air to practice when there is no paper.

Practice in random places, like the car.

Learn the origin of each character. Not only are they really cool, but it will help the remembering a TON.

Well, I'll be living on a military base, so I won't HAVE to learn Japanese, but other families living there say that the food that we would normally eat is super expensive, so my Mom's plan is to buy/eat local food.

And that's why I'd learn Japanese. It would be neat to learn it though. Thanks for the tips!!

In three years I'll be eighteen. I'll be in college. That's so sad. I mean, it's not sad to go to college, but it's sad to know that there is almost no chance of meeting you until I'm eighteen and you're sixteen. Unless I go to Japan, in which case we had BETTER meet! Do you know where in Japan you will live?

I'm just so sad. You don't know how much I wanted you to live in Virginia, preferably near Richmond. I want to meet you so much, Cho. *sigh* We'll meet one day, though, if it's meant to be.

There is a Jewish concept called Gam zhu li'tovah, which literally means, "Also this is good". It means that everything that happens was planned out by G-d, and that there is a good reason for every seemingly bad thing. A silver lineing to every big, grey stormcloud. So I know there is a good reason for you moving to Japan, not Virginia. If we look hard enough, we can find that good reason and be grateful about the cause.

Even so, I'm really disappointed that you won't be moving to VA. I wish you were, and I wish I could meet you. Maybe one day. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Well, at least we could both drive!

And yes. We'll live in Okinawa. A military base is there, which is why we're moving there.

I do know about the concept of Gam zhu li'tovah, even though Christians don't use that term. And I have seen it. You know how I posted about my chickens, and how an osprey attacked one? Well, a couple months later: Our dryer caught on fire.

We had to stay at a rental house for three months while people cleaned our house. (There was only smoke damage) I found the CB during that time period, and that also allowed us to later take some of our friends' chickens when they moved to VA.

God is good.

And yes, I too am disaointed, but hopefully we'll get to meet someday. We can only hope and pray.
