CALLING ALL

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

CALLING ALL

CALLING ALL CHATTERBOXERS

Lately it seems there have been a lot of heated debates posts and anti-heated debates posts. This has lead to lots of arguments (on both types of threads) and a lot of comments wasted trying to calm people down. It is my personal opinion that we should come up with a universal Chatterbox symbol that means calm down. Like for instance, if I ranted at someone for several paragraphs, you guys would do (symbol here): Allison..... or something along those lines. This way we can peacefully tone down a certain argument or something without ranting about someone's rant. Am I making sense to anyone but myself? Sorry if I'm not, I do that sometimes. But I think this idea could save a whole lot of trouble on everyone's part. Agree? No? Maybe? What does everybuggy think? (And if you have suggestions for a symbol, that would be lovely, too; just make sure it's something all computers can do.)

That's odd.  I thought I just posted on here... but it says no one has.  Hmm...

How about */* as the symbol?

How 'bout . . . nah, you need a Mac for that . . .   How 'bout "~!!!!!~"?  Number of exclamation points indicates how heated/offensive it is.

Or "!0" for a bit heated, "!00" for too heated, and "!000" for way too heated?
Maybe we could do letters?  For example, there could be "GH!" for "Getting heated", "TH!" for "Too heated", and "CDWTH" for "Calm down: way too heated."
Or "GO!" means "Getting offensive", "O! O! O!" could mean "Offending!  Offending!  Offending!" and "CDWTO", "Calm down: way too offensive"?

!TAWCTTYKCDP is too long for my liking. How about just 1:

I think that's a great idea, Allison. And I'm sorry my anti-heated debate threads are getting, er, heated. What about a smiley for the symbol? :)

Sorry, but I don't think the smiley would work because we use smileys way too much :). I like PsyCOdUck29's idea, and Clair's and Trixy's are also good.

I don't think we should use letters, some of us (me included) might not remember them ealisy.

Whoops. Typo. I meant "favor".

This is a good idea. Nothing too short, though- if a post just consisted of "[][]" or something, it might be ignored or overlooked. I like Trixy's idea of rating it, so that someone who was just getting a little heated or might start something heated isn't all offended even MORE if they feel they're being called heated.

Does anyone get what I just said? Like Allison, sometimes I only make sense to myself. :/
