Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Let's play house.

Let's play house.

There are AE balls and AE chat threads, but Nymph and Sea Glass never like to go out, not where there are people (as do I). So this is a thread about what they do all day, maybe a sort of diary or log of their introverted/antisocial activities.

There might be RPing. They might talk. They might ramble on for entire posts directed at no one about whatever it is they're thinking. I don't know, but feel free to join.

Try to stay away from shipping and drama; this is about your AEs as beings with complex characters doing stuff in their spare time. Or what they do in the time that isn't spare. That might include social interactions, or it might not. Post the name of the AE of focus at the beginning of each comment, and develop.

It is oh so dark here. There is nothing other than me here, in my dormant form, coded into me at the beginning to keep me safe when I'm on the brink of mortal death. I don't know why though. You can never die permanently on the CB. And yet here I am, sitting in front of the only thing entertaining here, in this holding cell I call my safety feature. I'm not actually sitting, I'm laying down with my eyes closed and wings thrown over my head. Then, a masculine voice comes through the window.

"WHERE IS SHE???? IS SHE OKAY?????" I sit up straight. Through the window I see Riley, HoodedMidnight's AE. His skin is a very dark tan, with angel wings as bright as the sun on the clouds. Immediately, I perk up. This Riley... He interests me. Rogue exchanges calming words with him. I attempt at speaking to him, and the world outside recoils in shock.

"Cap, you can SPEAK?? HEY RILEY CAP CAN TALK TO YOU!!" Well I guess they can hear me then. Riley fumbles around some and stumbles over his words a lot, but I find it kind of adorable and unintentionally, I giggle. Riley blushes feircely and asks if he 'did a good'. HoodedMidnight corrects him on his grammar, and Riley blushes all the more feircely. Despite myself, I put my hand up to the window and trace his face. He's funny. I think I may grow to like this guy a bit.

Unbeknownst to me, I now have a good reson to want to get out of here. One of my many wounds heals.

Wait, I thought he was... I don't know, Indian? African-American? Not just tan.

Mexi says aago! Iago? Iago was English or something, Mexi.

I don't know, HoodedMidnight only said 'dark skin', but if Rogue's ever going to draw Riley (which she probably will), he has to be tan instead of African-american or anything like that because Rogue doesn't have the materials or the means to get the materials to make his skin as dark as the skin of someone of African etc. ethnicity. Also, if she draws us together, then it won't be such of a stark contrast between his darker coloring and my light coloring. *Shrugs* I'll have Rogue ask HM.

*lights up* That's okay! You can actually layer other colors to get various shades of brown and, y'know, skin tones! I used to do that all the time. Still do, actually. I mean, I had brown and this one peach colored pencil back then, but I was doing a ton of different charries and wanted to get lots of unique hues, so. I actually took out some of my old colored pencils and tested out some combinations next to patches from my newer set. The ones on the left and in the middle are all some combo of red, orange, purple and black, and the ones on the right are all some combo of pink, light brown and regular brown. I also labeled them all with the initials of their respective colors. I think I got pretty close, don't you? The trick is to keep it soft. If you've ever messed around with gradients, I'd put each layer of these somewhere in the middle range of how light to how dark you can go. Gradients are so fun, I doodle them all the time just because it's the best challenge to try to get a smooth transition. And this is assuming you even use full color in the first place! There are so many fun things you can do with ink (like hatching, or stippling!) and grayscale (pencils work well for this) and any sort of half color (black and white or grayscale with little pops of color, usually to emphasize that something is important)--Namesake is a wonderful example of this last. Be warned, though, it's a very long and absorbing comic. Oh, and Sakana is a wonderful example of inks! Also slightly less long and more absorbing.

Contrast is actually great! Highly recommended. It's super appealing to the human eye to have extreme lights and darks together, believe it or not. It's, like, the whole basis of black and white art. You know, ink drawings and paintings and such.

Aaah, now I want to draw everything I've been talking about, I think it would be a cool demonstration and it sounds so fun! Should I do it?

Oh, wow, you’re right, you can get such a wide range of shades by just layering! Definitely bookmarking that for later. And yes, you should definitely draw all those things, it would be so cool!!

That's all just colored pencils? How do you blend them so fluidly?

Thanks! I'm careful with how much pressure I apply, and I have a lot of practice. Like I said, I doodle gradients for fun!

So many people. So much loudness. Oh man why did Moonlight have to be in a crazy place? I telaport back to her well 'house' and race to my room. Inside is a while and black designed bed, tons of drawings, paintings, and canvases. Also a beatbox because I listen to music when I paint.

I bet Moonlight is shipping me with someone right now but I only asked for a partner at the ball because she made me. I don't want to go with a guy! I am a fine independant young woman! I will not be shipped! As long as I can help anyway.

I don't really know anyone on the CB. I really hope someone besides Moonlight can show me the ropes. I am definitly an introvert though but ya know. I really hope that the CB is nice and welcoming.

*Burts in*

MOONLIGHT

What sre you DOING

Well uh I think you should go out in the CB and meet other AE's

Come on Logan!

*mutters something about private space CBers and introverts as throw on my sweatshirt and puul up the hood.*

This doesn’t really have anything to do with AEs, but I found some ferns, so I decided to try making a crown out of them from the instructions Viola? made, because I thought they were pretty (also because I’ve been wanting to make a flower crown for awhile but I haven’t had any good flowers or gotten around to it).

Aah, you actually did it! That's so cool! I'm glad it worked. I wasn't quite sure whether the instructions were clear.

I can't actually remember if I've ever made a silhouette before, especially one paired with a reverse silhouette. I think this turned out pretty well, though!
