Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Meeting in real

Meeting in real life

Hey everyone! So, I've had something knocking around in my head for ages, and I decided to make a thread about it. I've been wanting to meet you guys in real life. We could start wearing things that let people know, like just a little badge with your CBer name on it.

What do you think?

I'm sorry, Blue Moon, but we can't support discusson of Chatterboxers meeting in real life. There has been mention in the past of wearing friendship bracelets of certain colors, but that's about all we can allow besides your city and state in the Location box.

Hmm, this was similar to my idea!

Here’s the map. I’ve noted landmarks near two or three CBers that you could meet at; in case you can’t read it (or don’t know who the dots are), Catsclaw and me at OMSI, Allie and Jwyn at the Met, Soren and Bluebird at Shedd Aquarium or Soren, Bluebird, and Agent Winter at The Gateway Arch. I just looked up landmarks that were near you guys. It’s really late, so I have to go now, but I hope this helps. Admins, if you don’t want this, I can post the map but less specific, just get an idea about where everyone is.

Me, bluebird, and AW at the Arch, huh? Sounds fun... I still wish I could meet all of you... ah well. I love Viola's idea, but we all know it probably can't happen. Kate the Great lives in Hawaii, so nothing will be easy for her to get to.

Ooh, really? I guess that's still rather far from where I am, but at least it's a start! I thought nobody on the CB lived up north. I'm in northern Wisconsin, like, very northern.

My vision was pretty much exactly the same as yours, Viola?. Meeting all the other CBers is probably my most dearest wish. Irl I have quite a few friends, but for a few of them I only see them at my birthday parties. When I scroll through the Chatterbox, I reach a whole network of friends who are just like me; the introverts, the artists, the creators, the homeschoolers, the ones who aren’t afraid to stand up to or for others, the lonely, the popular, the dreamers, the inventors. When we’re all here as equals, as friends, it makes life that much better. The Chatterbox is truly a blessing to me, and I’m sure many others could say the same. If all that we’re allowed to communicate with each other is words on a website, I won’t complain. But if I had a million dollars, I would pay for each and every one of us to fly in from wherever they are, to wherever my millionaire mansion is on a hill or by a lake, and we would all be welcome, all have fun and get to know each other, all be present. If that’s a childish daydream, I’ll make it an adult reality if ever I have the chance.

I don’t think I have anything more to say after that.

I really wish a big CB meetup could happen! I think that would be a lot of fun and I'd enjoy seeing you all face-to-face. I know when I met up with Cockleburr it went amazing.

I have a t-shirt with my CBer name on it! I don't wear it often, though, and it would be difficult to wear the same article of clothing every day. Something like badges or jewelry would be a better indicator, I think.

Also @Jwyn - do you have NaNo or YWP? (if not, make an account! It's free!) Let me know what your username is  :)

I'm not familiar with NaNo or YWP. What are they exactly?

NaNo - or NaNoWriMo - stands for National Novel Writing Month. If you go to nanowrimo.org, you can make an account with them. T :)

What if, every time we went on vacation, we wear something to symbolize the CB? I'm sure I could make a pin or something. Once i'm done, I'll post it on this thread. By the way, at the end of the month, I'll be in Erie, Pennsylvania, for the weekend. Does anyone else live there?

(Whisper says 'bhoo'. Are you ok??)

I live in PA, but not near Erie.

I always pictured some kind of indoor thing, in a school gym-type place, with reunions and laughter and workshops and stuff. It would be amazing to meet any of you irl. Does anyone else live near DC? I live in Maryland, just north of DC (like, I can walk there), for your map, Blue. How do you sign up for YWP as opposed to the adult NaNo site? Also, St. Owl, You met up with Cockleburr? That sounds really awesome? Could you tell us how that worked? The idea of meeting in real life has been in my head since I first joined the CB, but I've been too scared to say so.

Yeah, I did! Cockleburr are in contact outside of the CB (noteably through email) so she mentioned that she'd be in New York for about a week and asked if I'd be okay with meeting up. We chose a place and time, met each other (with parents), hung out for a few hours, then went home!
