Football. Anyone here

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Football. Anyone here

Football. Anyone here care to explain this game to me? :) After seeing the baseball-ish thread, I thought I might as well ask. Ok so my problem is that I don't really understand exactly what's so exciting. With baseball I understand it more, (You can cheer them on when they're running the bases, it's exciting when someone makes an awesome catch, and there's some strategy going on with the fielding, etc.) but with football, all I see is a big mass of guys trying to knock each other over. It seems like there's so much going on that I don't know WHAT to get excited about?!

One team gets 4 chances to advance the ball 10 yards down the field
toward their goal. If they make the 10 yards, they get to keep the ball
and try for 10 more yards. If they don't make the 10 yards, then the
other team gets the ball to try to make 10 yards in 4 tries toward
their goal at the opposite end of the field. Each team tries to stop the opposing team by tackling the ball carrier. The goal is to advance all the way down the field for a touchdown.

On a rather non-sequiter note, today I found out that the football jersies at my school are insanely *hot*. It's sort of a tradition that on game days, girls wear their friend or boyfriend's jersey. I don't have a boyfriend, so I was wearing my friend's, and about roasted in math o.O I'm actually sort of glad that I didn't go to the game, because sitting on the bleachers in that would have *roasted* my *brains* o.O
