Chatterbox: Down to Earth

@Skip - this

@Skip - this is Neverseen here!

Ello Skip (an anyone else who happens to open this thread to see what is going on) - this is our thread for the group get-to-know-other-CBers! Group Purple (If I remember correctly)!

My first question for you - how did you find out about the Inheritence Games book? I love it, but I didn't think many people had heard about it. Who is your favorite character? Mine is Alexander - he reminds me of one of my best friends, and, I mean, only one character can say "You look like you could use a robotic dragon" and get away with it. :)

ARG! It took me a dang week to respond! Maybe my mom is right about being to busy...

Anyhow, I play snare drum, drum set, marimba, and piano (Yep! That is percussion too! Though I do take it seperatly from my other percussion lessons) at the moment. A lot of those I only get to play at lessons, but I still am progressing! I play piano for my school with four other kids, and we are starting to play organ this year...so THAT is stressful. The organ is probably the most intimidating instrutment I have ever tried to play - it is so loud!

Your band - that sounds so cool! I am guessing you play guitar from what you said, and it sounds like you sing as well! Is guitar a difficult thing to play? Do you play with a pick or just your fingers? My dad used to play guitar, so he has one and brings it out to play sometimes, but I don't really know too much about it.

I don't know if this is happening where you live - but WHY are people getting out Halloween decorations? It is the middle of September for crying out loud (Well that sounded like my 6o year old teacher XD)! But seriously. It's not even October. Are you experiencing this...early onslaught of Holliday decor, or is it just me?

P.S I did got those speaker things working! I learned they are called digicert, and they connect to my phone to broadcast music. So...yay on that!

It's wonderful that you're learning organ, Neverseen. Good organists are in demand. Young ones are needed to take over as the older ones retire. And, I'm sorry to say, one of our local supermarkets put Halloween candy on display as soon as the Fourth of July was over!

YES! THE HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS ARE OUT! In my neighborhood there's at least six different houses with them up. IT'S NOT EVEN FALL YET!!!!!

And yes I do sing! I also kindssortanotreally write music? I've never done anything with them though. I usually use a pick unless I'm doing arpeggios or something fancy. my fingers always die though because I haven't used it lately.

One of my friends plays the marimba! He also does percussiony things too! The organ is rather intimidating though. I'm curious, is playing the organ like playing piano? Or is it completely different? Cause they look rather similar.

I completely understand the busy thing though. This weekend I have work and rehersal THEN this uupcoming week I have tennis games, rehersal and it's homecoming on saturday. My goodness I am busy. I didn't realize it before...

Anyway I do apologize in advance if I don't reply to you soon.

Oh yeah, writing music is tough! I've tried making a few songs, but most of them are simple and short, and none of them have ever left my piano stand. As for the organ, it is seems similar, but it is the really small differences that make the difference - the keys are smaller, the pedals are notes, and the instrument is wind, while the piano is percussion. The hardest part about it for me is how you can't hold notes - if you move your finger, the note stops. Urg, I hope I can concer the thing before my teacher makes me play for my school again...

This is also random, but I desided I would participate in the school play this year! The theme is going to be comedy, which I'm not quite as good at on stage as I am in real life, so I am pretty nervous. I am also not sure if I am a desent actor in the first place, because this is my first time giving it a shot. I don't think any of my friends are going to go either, so...yeah. I am pretty anxious. Fingers cross it will go well!

I hope you have a great time with your rehersal, tennis, and homecoming! Yet, again, I am lossing track of time (my calender still says the 19th, and it is the 24th), so I understand if you aren't able to respond.

Any advice for beginning actors (me) for their first plays?

*GASP* PLAYS ARE SO MUCH FUN!! Also I have no idea what prompted you to ask me for advice but I'll give it a shot:

So comedy is all about the jokes in the show or skit or whatever you are doing and it's all about the delivery. Normally you want there to be BIG actions whenever you are trying to land a joke and you can't go halfway. The theater teacher will be able to tell (at least mine can) when you are trying to land a joke from when you are nor really trying. So commit to what you are doing!

I'm sure you will do amazing! Acting is storytelling just in a different way. Pleaaaaase let me know how it goes! Also for the record crew is so much fun. It's like all of the fun of creating a production but without the stress of performing it in front of people. But I'm sure you'll be amazing!

Homecoming was last saturday and it was so much fun! I went with my friend and now I think we're dating? We've been like this for a while now but emotions are difficult. I'll figure it out eventually.

That's very interesting about the organ! I didn't realize that the pedals were the notes instead of the keys....

Actually, the organ produces notes with 2 or more keyboards plus pedals. An organist has to be really coordinated to work two hands and two feet ofen simultaneously!

Thank you so much Skip! I'll definetly remember to tell BIG jokes! And yeah, what Admin said about the organ is true. There are so...in my opinion too many...keys on that thing. I am gonna have to really try to conquer that thing. Oh yeah, and I have to play piano on Tuesday - with PEOPLE SINGING! AGH! I sure hope I don't mess up on that. I mean, if I did though, it could be pretty funny...Hehe, I probably should do it right. :)

Your homecoming sounds like it went well! I wish you the best in figuring our your feelings, I know those things can be difficult. I got a Halloween dance coming up on the 29th and I am scarred to death about it, so I feel you.

BUT, you doing anything interesting for Halloween? My grandpa's birthday is two days before the 31st, so we always like to celebrate with him. That pretty much just means chicken chili, but, I mean, who doesn't like chicken chili?

Oh and yeah, I'm so sorry about the delay (yet again) - my school had standardized testing this week, and I had afterschool stuff as well - including today, I got a tailgating thing with my class that I gotta leave for in *looks at watch* about 15 minute!

I hope your having an awesome October!
