Weird Things You

Weird Things You Either Just Found Out Or Already Knew.

Post what it says above! I found out that the title "mx" is used for those who do not wish to either gender. Here is how I found it online:

"Mx is an English language neologistic honorific that does not indicate gender. It was developed as an alternative to common gendered honorifics, such as Mr and Ms, in the late 1970s. It has been used by non-binary people as well as those who do not wish to imply a gender in their titles."

I also learned that some people didn't know that the Domino on a Dominoes pizza place was a domino!

And that some people are 35 and have never eaten a cherry!

I learned that my CAPTCHA is at a war. And that they just said, {umrug} What rug?

Here's some stuff:

-Newborn babies can’t drown because their windpipes close in response to being submerged. However, that reflex disappears at six months.

-The term “OK” probably comes from a misspelling of the phrase “all correct.”

-Under certain conditions, hot water actually freezes faster than cold water

-Cheese is the most shoplifted food in the world.

-The longest hiccupping attack lasted 68 years.

-More people have been to the moon than the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of the ocean.

- Octopuses are considered the most intelligent invertebrate; they’ve even been observed using tools.

That's it! Also, I found a website with these. I did not research them one bit.

Oh interesting Pancake! No. 1 especially- I didn't know babies could do that. It's really important because they have no neck support whatsoever.

The cheese one is very funny.

I learned that "disinterested" actually means "impartial," rather than "uninterested" which was what I thought!  I also learned some Japanese speakers find the name Garry funny because the word geri means diarrhea!  I learned some people think Goofy is a cow, and I just learned the Mx. thing yesterday.

I also learned that my history teacher spells twilight "twighlight" and my English teacher thinks it should be "Ancient Greece" not "ancient Greece" and "ancestor" means relative, whether that's a descendant or an actaul ancestor.  From that I learned I enjoy feeling smug when teachers make mistakes because they're the ones that're supposed to be teaching us.

Furthermore, I learned that a lot of people think "OK" is the actual word for it, not just an abbreviation of "okay."  And I learned "chi" can mean earth and it can also mean blood, which is weird.

I think Goofy IS a cow... I mean, Mickey Mouse likes Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck likes Daisy Duck, and Goofy likes that cow lady, so wouldn't that make him a bull? But who knows!

Here are some of my thoughts and explanations for some of these facts!

The last letter added to the alphabet was actually “J”

You'd think it would be "Z" right? Well, it isn't! It is actually J!

The Tostitos logo is two people sharing a chip and salsa.

The color magenta doesn't have a specific wavelength on the light spectrum.

Magenta isn't actually a color!

You can spot an invisible "8" in the middle of the eight of diamonds

It's hard to see at first, but once you see it, it seems so easy to see.

The word "swims" looks exactly the same upside-down.

It doesn't look exactly alike, but I see it. By the way, it only works with all capitals.

That's all!

-There are more ways to shuffle a deck of cards than there are atoms in the entire earth.”

By rough approximation, there are 1049 to 1050 atoms that make up Earth. To figure out how many combinations can be made from 52 cards, you simply have to multiply 52x51x50x49...etc. That means there are on the order of 1067 ways to shuffle a deck of cards!

-In the Hudson Bay area gravity is actually lower than in other parts of the world.”

Gravity is actually slightly variable all over the world, largely due to differences in the amount of crust below any given point. One well-accepted idea is that the Hudson Bay area has less gravity (a VERY slight difference) because the crust below might be thinner — some deep crust of the Earth may have been pushed to the sides by the ice sheet that was there during the last ice age, giving the region less mass.

Some thoughts and expalnations for some of these!

An average person spent 24 years of his life in sleeping.

That's a lot! Better give yourself enjoyable dreams so those 24 years don't go to waste!

An average woman consume 6 lbs. of lipstick in her lifetime.

Luckily, I don't use lipstick! I won't use six pounds in my life!

A duck’s quack doesn’t echo, and no one knows why.

I looked it up, and actually it does echo, but not very noticalby.

Sitting while talking on the phone for eight hours will burn 914 calories. Driving a car for eight hours will knock off around 1,219 calories. And standing in a casino for eight hours will burn about 1,402 calories.

I guess, if you want to burn calories for eight hours, stand in a casino!

The most common name in the world is Mohammed.

I feel very sorry for those people!

Pearls melt in vinegar.

This is how you tell if you have a real pearl!

It is possible to lead a cow upstairs… but, not downstairs.

It actually depends on how steep the stairs are. Look it up.

All polar bears are left handed.

How exactly did you test this?

That's all!

I believe the immortal jellyfish (that is not actually a jellyfish technically) also can live forever, though the longer it lives the more likely it is to die. It does this by repeating its life cycle over and over again, going from the equivilant of an adult form to its baby form eternally. And I have heard of the hydra too, they are incredibly tiny, but might creatures!

Oh yeah, and I learned this at a football game. (#When Your Best Friend is a Nerd and You are Too) I learned approximatley zero things about football. I did learn about Gehnsion Impact though! (#When that Nerd Friend also is obsessed with a Video Game He Doesn't Actually Even Play)
