Chatterbox: Down to Earth

In Case Anybody

In Case Anybody Cares Thread

This thread, you post a nice chunk of text about whatever you feel like pondering that day.  Journal-type entries, existential thoughts, something you happened to google that way, interesting facts, whatever.  It's like Random Thoughts/Things, but with a few paragraphs rather than a few lines.

I often get songs stuck in my head, even if I haven't heard them in FOREVER. Like, for instance, earlier 'Another Day of Sun" was stuck in my head. I last heard/sung it was... 8 months ago? I can't remember! Oh, speaking of songs, 2 months ago or so, when I was trying to fall asleep, my brain just started singing that song from MooseTube in Go Noodle that goes like: "Peanut butter in a cup, we sing this song to pump us up, bang bang choo-choo train, c'mon *name* do your thing! I can't--why not?--I just can't--why not?--my back is achin', the sun's too bright, my hips keep popping from the left to the right, from the left, to the right, to the left, to the right, left, right, left, right, left right left right leftrightleftrightleftrightleftright" then repeats. Yeah, at 10:45, my brain sings a song thats purpose is "to pump us up"!! Not helpful, brain!
There was one more thing I was gonna say, but I forgot it while trying to right out the lyrics to 'Peanut Butter in a Cup'. Oh, well, whatever.
This is Rainbow signing off! Peace!

(Inkling says, <<tvpev>> tv pev. tv plz? tv pez? Something about about tv!

OH I FEEL YOU SO MUCH

I constantly have the Monkees' theme stuck in my head, even though I haven't heard it in maybe a year.  I actually have a (temporary, hopefully) music-phobia right now; even though (or because) music is super important to me and my connection with my family.

My dad has songs stuck in his head all the time (though he listens to music 24/7.)  He switches between them so fast- I say this completely free of exaggeration: (exageration?)  He will have sung the choruses of three different songs in the same minute.

Because he sings out loud so often, I know the full lyrics to at least five songs I've never actually heard in my entire life.

Yes, agreed!

My family is very musical, it's annoying sometimes.

And my brother likes to beatbox... ALL THE TIME... in the shower... doing homework... reading... so yeah I hear a lot of beatboxing.

Sorry, that was random. But I totally agree!

~India (and South Asia)

The Indus Valley Civilitation (on the Indus River) was the earliest known civilizations in India. It was very ahead of its time, containing brick houses with bathrooms and drains! And this was in 3500 B.C.E! They disappeared after 1,000 years though, but nobody knows why. An earthquake? A epidemic? Invaders? We can theorize.

Then, the Aryans came into India. We don't really know why they came, but it is thought that they hearded livestock like cattle. They too vanished after 1000 years, but they left two important things: the caste system and the Vedas (poetic scripts). The caste system (related to the culture of Hinduism) is sort of like a pyramid of power, topped with priests or Brahmans and ending with dalits or untouchables (thogh that class didn't come until later). The Vedas were epics writen in the ancient language of Sanskrit, which actually influenced the language of Greek, Latin, and Hindi! One very important Veda was the Rig Veda, which was about Aryan dieties and laid the founding principals for Hinduism.

-Fast Forward in Time-

Okay, now, the Ramayana and the Mahabharta. These two vastly important documents to the Hinduism faith are known well across South Asia, even among the other religions. The most common six religions in South Asia are Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Sikhism, Jainism, and Christianity. Jainism and Sikhism were made as reactions to Hinduism, partially because they rejected the caste system, and for other reasons as well.

India is projected to be the most populous country by 2030.

Okay, that is all I have time for now, but yeah! India (and South Asia)!

Hm... I'm thinking about posting on the CB again after such a long time! At least 3 years, as I was around from 2015-2019 or so. It's good to see so many new faces around! I'm enjoying poking about and checking on things. It seems like the culture overall is pretty nice and supportive! That's a good thing, and one of the things I appreciated most about the CB. I hope you all are making as strong friendships as the ones I made when I was on here. Some of those people remain my best friends! And it's always a good story to explain how we know each other.

Hold on a second- captchas do five letters now??
