I'm so sorry I didn't make this thread sooner!! Anyhow, to start the discussion... what sort of music do you like? I like Celtic, some country and folk - basically any music that I find inspiring.

No! All good. :) I'm sick anyways so I haven't been on for a little while.

I like a lot of different music. My playlist generally varies from slower, sad folk songs, to upbeat pop dance music. I even have some World Cup songs that are completely in different languages! I'm not sure I've listened to a ton of Celtic songs. Do you have some I should try?

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that you're sick! I hope you get better soon :{

As for Celtic songs, I do have a few suggestions. There's a band called Celtic Woman that has some lovely songs, although more modern than traditional (so it's fairly surprising that I like them, because I tend to not like modern stuff at all); there's also a singer called Enya who doesn't sing very Celtic-ish songs but who's Irish or Scottish or something herself, and was fairly influenced by Celtic music I think. (oh dear, I don't know much about her do I) And yes, for some reason I love slow, sad folk songs. Sometimes they can really express how you're feeling.

Now I'm curious... what are World Cup songs? I saw that they were advertising something called "FifaSound" on the sides of the stadium in one of the games, but I have no idea what it is... it sounds really interesting!

And, of course, I can hardly mention the World Cup without saying that I'm very anxious about the outcome of France-Argentina... who do you want to win?

Cool! I'll check thoes songs out!

FifaSound is a playlist of World Cup songs, but here's a few I like. Waka Waka, Shakira. We Are One, Pitbull. Wavin' Flag, K'NAAN.

It's cool that we're both watching the world cup. Doing the same thing at the same time!

Ah. The outcome of the final. I'm sure you know that people can get very competetive about the team they root for. So, we'll shake on it for good sportswomanship. *shakes your hand* Perfect! I am fairly sure we are rooting for opposite teams. But I could be wrong. My, I am really drawing this out aren't I? Ok, I'm going for Argentina.

Ooh, I'll definitely look for those songs! I had no idea Fifa had its own music :)

And... your team won. Congratulations! It's probably Messi's last World Cup anyhow, so I guess he deserved to win. And France got second place anyhow, which is pretty good, so I'm not complaining. I didn't particularly want France to win the whole World Cup, because as you pointed out they did win the last one, and they're not all very nice. I was just going for France in this last game because I do prefer them to Argentina, but ah well. What I really didn't like was that they had to go to penalties - I really feel that it's unfair to the players to do that, since they're all tired by then and whoever wins is largely due to luck. But that whole game was certainly exciting :) (I like exciting games)

What sorts of books do you like reading? I like vivid, well-written, captivating (if that's the right word) books like The Eagle of the Ninth by Rosemary Sutcliff... and, of course, almost anything fantasy. It's amazing how hard it is to find good YA books, or just good books at all, especially ones that aren't dark and unpleasant. SO, I tend to read books from a while ago - it's amazing how modern they can seem, even if they were written in the 1900s or something. Anyway, I would recommend *oh dear how will I ever choose just a few I have millions!!!*

~The Bronze Bow, by Elizabeth George Speare (Historical fiction, really exciting and evocative and gripping)

~Gone-Away Lake, by Elizabeth Enright (Realistic fiction, a wonderful book, really interesting and like real life)

~The Search for Delicious, by Natalie Babbitt (Fantasy, very well-written, sort of like LotR if you like that style - all about dwarves and caves and things like that)

Sorry this is getting sort of long! I probably won't be posting on here for a while, since after tomorrow I'm not going to post to give the admins a bit of a break :) Anyway, I hope you have happy holidays and get well soon! :D

I haven't read any of those, but I'll check them out! I think we are a very good match for this make a friend. :)

I like fantasy. YA fiction. I absolutely love any of the books by Cassandra Clare. I've read so many good books that I love it's kinda crazy.

So I know you enjoy watching soccer, but do you play any sports? I play soccer and nordic ski race. I actually had a race today!

Anyway, I know this is kind of short but oh well. Talk soon!

I'm back at last! :D

I've never heard of Cassandra Clare, but I'll look for her books! What genre does she write?

Do I play any sports. Hmmm. Well, not "officially"... I basically just play against my family in my backyard. My sister, my dad and I play some soccer and badminton, and I also loove to ice skate, though I can't that often - there's a rink near here which we used to go to once in a while, but we haven't gone since the pandemic began. It must be really fun to do nordic skiing! I hope the race went well :)

Btw it's really fun talking with you! :))

Yeah, super fun talking with you too! We have a lot in common! I took a little break for the holidays, but I'm back now!

I like to play pickup hockey on the rink. Kind similar to what you were talking about, I guess.

Sorry it's taken me a while to respond! :/ Anyhow, I'm finally here again.

I do love foxes too (you put fox as your favorite animal on the MaF thread so I know you like them) and I've actually seen some!! They always seem sort of magical to me - all reddish-colored, and elegant, and as if they knew a lot of things. I also love wolves, because they're simply so beautiful and also sort of magical, and horses, because they're powerful and lovely-looking, and guinea-pigs, because they're absolutely so adorable. I had a guinea-pig once, but she died three years ago :( and now I want another one. Then there's a cat who isn't ours but comes into the yard sometimes, and other than that I love to birdwatch. Do you have any pets? or particular favorite animals other than foxes?

Sorry about your guinea pig. I'll bet they were well loved.

I have two female cats. They are very skittish still, even though we've had them for a while.

As for other favorite animals, I like falcons and owls. Some kind of bird.

It must be so nice to have cats!

What sorts of things do you like to write about? (if you write much, ofc) I tend to go in for longer stories, mostly fantasy with an occasional historical fiction or shorter story popped in. And poetry. I definitely write poetry, and read it too.

Sorry this is short! I'll post more later :)
