I'm so sorry I didn't make this thread sooner!! Anyhow, to start the discussion... what sort of music do you like? I like Celtic, some country and folk - basically any music that I find inspiring.

Oh, yes! The topic of writing.

I like to write a variety of fiction. I hate writing nonfiction. I like poetry too! I also just started a post apocalyptic dystopian story with my friend. I also hate writing prompts during English. It just feels so limited!

Would you like to share a poem you've written? I'd be happy to read it!

Yes, I agree that nonfiction can be very boring to write... also how everybody seems to go on about "plan out your story with a beginning and a middle and an end". I suppose that could be useful, but I personally prefer to just let my stories flow and not concern myself particularly about exactly three precise stages.

All right, here are two (unnamed, unfortunately) poems about the ocean:

Sunrise and sunset and evening star

The ocean's calling me from afar

Alas! for a glimpse of my old, dear home

Of the tossing waves and the wind-swept foam!

and

Ocean, ocean, come to me!

And in coming you will see

If you don't, or if you do

Love me - ocean, I love you!

And... here is one about a rabbit.

Such a marvelous thing is a rabbit

All fur and ears and eyes

And though he seems only darling

You know that he is wise.

I find rabbits very inspiring because there are some little wild ones in my garden!!! They're often little babies when we first see them, barely old enough to be on their own, and they're quite trusting. In the absence of guinea pigs they're very adorable :)

Wow! These are incredible! You should really do something with these. They are so amazing!

Thank you! :) Do you write poetry? What sorts of poetry do you like to read? It really depends with me - there's not one particular style that I like. In general I like very evocative poetry, like Swift Things Are Beautiful by Elizabeth Coatsworth and The Song of Sherwood by Alfred Noyes, and funny poetry.

My captcha, Origami, is announcing importantly <fzrzz>. What is it with the z's, Origami?

I write a bit of poetry, but I prefer longer novels. I don't really read poetry, but I'll check it out! Sorry, I've been very busy lately. My posts are few and far between.

Oh, that's fine :) I haven't been posting here too often either, I'm afraid.

Although I do write poetry, I write longer novels more regularly too. As I said, mostly fantasy/historical fiction. Do you prefer writing in notebooks or on computers? I definitly prefer notebooks, although occasionally I find myself able to write a story on the computer.

I definitely prefer a computer. I like the way I can go back and edit. Notebooks are very hard for me with anything. Also, when you type, do you type with two hands, the more traditional way? Because I use only one hand and I'm still pretty fast and acurate with typing. I'm kind of curious. :) I just want to say that I'm really enjoying talking with you.

P.S. I Nordic ski. You should check out some videos of Klaebo if you're interested in that sort of thing.

Well, yes, that is a definite advantage of writing on a computer. Yes, I do type with two hands. It's amazing that you can type with only one!

Ooh, I'll look for that! I do watch some skiing and things like that during the Winter Olympics. Speaking of which, next year is the Summer Olympics (again!) Do you watch the Olympics in general? I love the rhythmic gymnastics in the Summer Olympics - they're so much more beautiful than the ordinary gymnastics, I think.

I do watch the Olympics! I love it! Is it summer 2023 or 2024? And do you know where it is?

Also, the Women's World Cup is this summer and I'm excited for that as well. As a female soccer player, I do hate to say that I enjoy watching the men play more, but it's true. I think we don't spend enough time and money on our female sports teams, which makes them not as good as the men's.

Your CAPTCHA seems like they say coherant things sometimes. Benbi is never that coherant. "Hnwxu?"

2024  summer  Olympics  will  be  in  Paris .

Oh yes, the Women's World Cup! I had forgotten all about it :/ That's the trouble with having the men's World Cup so late in the year - it makes it seem as if it had happened this year. Isn't the Women's World Cup next year, though? I might be wrong, but I believe it is.

And yes, I completely agree!! There isn't any particular reason why men's soccer should be more interesting, except that as you say they're probably more highly developed, but women's soccer is just less interesting. Nevertheless, I do make it a point to watch the Women's World Cup, and I do like the American team - especially Alex Morgan.

Yes, Origami tends to say interesting things - she likes to ennunciate, don't you, Origami? (She seems bent on proving me wrong - <bgwhk> is her remark to this)

Ooh, Olympics in Paris. That should be interesting!

Also, the USWNT generation that won everything is slowing getting too old. So there are a lot of younger players that I don't know so well.

My favorite is Megan Rapinoe.

The World Cup starts August 20, 2023. That's one day after the date of my bat mitzvah! Wow!  I just realized that!

Yes, that's true - a lot of the women's players are younger. Ah yes, Rapinoe - she's definitely super good at playing!

Btw, what did you think of the men's US national soccer team? I personally thought very little of them. They all looked as if they were half asleep, and they weren't that good at playing.

Hmm, another question - do you like Messi better or Ronaldo?

<oxegg> What about an egg, Origami?

I thought the men's team isn't that great. We have some potential, especially with a lot of our young players on clubs outside of the U.S.

I think the player with the most potential is probably Weston McKennie. He is pretty good.

I like Messi better. I think his drbbling is absolutly inspiring. It's so cool!

Thoughts?

Well, personally, I prefer Ronaldo... he isn't as good a player as Messi, but I find that my judgement of soccer players is usually based on their personalities rather than on their soccer skills, and I think Ronaldo is more inspiring as a person. Although I was shocked that he went off to play for a Saudi Arabian team... I don't see why he wanted to do that. *sigh*

Weston Mckennie? Yes, he played pretty well, but I think that the best American player is Christian Pulisic (this time I am basing myself on soccer skills, not on personal preference).
