Question of the

Question of the

Question of the Two Days

Every two days, I'll post a new get-to-know-you-ish question. I think it'll be cool to see what people think and maybe it'll help get people to know each other better (hence, me calling it a get-to-know-you-ish question).

Question of the Two Days #1:

What word, to you, sounds like a magical spell and what would that spell do?

My answer is 'solander.' I think it'd provide a warm lighted sphere that follows the spellcaster.

Are you asking if we want spaghetti? If there is any?

(I know there's no explanation, but explanation or not, speculating is fun.)

QotTD A.D. #5: unpopular opinion about a book?

for example, I really don't like Narnia. it's been years since I've read them but I remember disliking them a lot. I can't even tell you why anymore. maybe they just felt shallow and unrelatable? and the worldbuilding had so many plot holes...

I also really didn't like This is How You Lose the Time War. too romantic, flowery, you're in such a cool world but you never develop it D: who falls in love through letters anyway??

(sorry if this is annoying for anyone, feel free to argue with me XD)

Please try a second attempt at Narnia! Then if you still dislike it, well everyone has their own tastes. Hmm..unpopular opinion, don't really have one. Maybe that Harry Potter isn't super amazing? Like tbh its okayish.

ooohh... unpopular opinion about a book...

I severely dislike basically all of Kate DiCamillo's books. Tiger Rising was okay-ish, kind of. but not really. I just really don't like those books :/

I do not like two books by the author Sharon Draper. They're unrelated--Blended and Out of My Mind. (I haven't read any other books by her, so I don't know if all of them are like those two, but I don't want to.) It's hard to describe this without giving spoilers, but they end in almost the worst possible way and don't fulfill much at all. Not happy endings.

This is shockingly easy :0 I don't like KotLC: basically all of the characters aren't well-drawn and don't seem like people you'd want to have for friends (even the "good guys"), the writing isn't good (it seems to consist mostly of one-sentence paragraphs), and it's also a bit dark. Mostly, it's simply not that interesting or well-written. That's just my opinion, though :)

What are you saying about my beloved Narnia >:0 Like Moon Wolf, I'd really advise you to reread them. It's all right if you really don't think they're that good, but they're literally some of the best books I've ever read, so I'm inclined to believe that other people will like them too :P There are plot holes? Which ones??

I also didn't like Narnia. Well, I def liked one book, as a made a cereal box project on it in third grade, but that was just a random book in the series (I didn't start at the beginning). I tried The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, but I didn't like it, so I never finished it. I also don't like Harry Potter, nor The Land of Stories, but that one has multiple reasons now... Also dunno if any of y'all know this one book, Ratchet, but ugh, hated it so much. I struggled through it. I also really didn't like Hatchet. It was too slow for me (like, the plot is cool, just how it was executed felt too boring), and I was reading it for school while I was reading Skyward for myself and I think Skyward is rly well written. Honestly, most of the books I had to read for school, I didn't like. Such as: The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian (hated this with my whole heart) and The Golden Bull (ew), and the rest were okay, just not great: The Outsiders, Faherheit 451 (also the title is annoying to write bc idk how to spell it), but Animal Farm was cool. Anyways, that's enough negativity for now, gotta go listen to MCR, byeeee~

there are plot holes in Narnia?? where?? I've never noticed any, and I'm usually a person who spots plot holes (except in my own stories, lol) anyway, I personally love Narnia, but I can see why it wouldn't be your kind of book... but really, try them again! they're some of the most meaningful books I've ever read, but it does take a while to really understand everything about them, I think. when I first read them, there were a lot of things I didn't really get, and it's taken me years to understand them. one of the things I've most recently come to appreciate about them is the way the characters become "too old" for Narnia; when I first read them I was like "no fair!!" but now, I see C. S. Lewis' point. part of growing up means that you don't need fantasy worlds to provide the magic in your life. some teenagers seem to stop being able to see the magic in anything, which does not mean they've grown up; but if you really mature, you become able to appreciate the "magic" in real and daily life. Friendship, the changing of the seasons, romance... suddenly it all becomes really meaningful, much more so than dragons and high adventures and epic battles in fantasy lands. (not that it's not still enjoyable to read about those things, though!) anyway, the whole point of Narnia is that it's not a kids' series, it holds a lot of deep ideas and messages; it really means something, rather than being a series that somebody scribbled down to make a quick buck. plus the whole worldbuilding and adventure and description and writing and characters are amazing. at least try The Silver Chair, that one might be more your style than the other ones :)

anyway, I still haven't actually answered the question, dear me... I actually have two unpopular opinions, but I've forgotten one of them :/ the other one is that books written in the present tense and from first-person pov are actually less enjoyable than past tense and third-person.

I can't stand Charles Dickens' books. And generally also can't stand any fantasy book written in the current century...they all basically say the same thing and have no character development. There's no meaning to the trials the characters go through, a lot of them don't have character arcs, etc. I also don't like Romeo and Juliet (sorry to all Shakespeare fans!)...because the humor in it felt inappropriate, in a way.

@Seadragon, I've read Out of My Mind before. I don't think the ending was unsatisfying...but there were some unexplained things in the book, that didn't make sense.

And like Amethyst, I must ask: What plot holes are in the Narnia series? I can't think of any...

ok fine I'll re-read Narnia :) I doubt I'll like it though

QotTD A.D. #6: you know those which cat are you meme things? (that wasn't the question lol). this is similar—which cat do you feel like today—but because I'm not going to take a random one from the internet I expect a drawing >:D basically just draw whatever cat you're feeling like today

I'll upload one later if I have time/remember...
