QSA Thread!Q

QSA Thread!

QSA stands for Queer Straight Alliance. A thread for both queer and straight people to support each other!

Many schools have a QSA (or GSA (Gay Straight Alliance), but we like QSA better because we think 'queer' is a better umbrella term than 'gay'), and it would be fun to do one on CB too!

Share stories, talk, & do whatever.

Heh, we've noticed the CB had a large queer community and were thinking it needed a thread like this. While we were thinking about it, we had all kinds of ideas for what to say in the post, but now we can't remember any of them...

Hi!!!

I just recently came out as Omnisexual! I told a few of my friends, but not my family. I'm working up the courage to. I have none so far, so I might next year.... TTvTT

My gf is also omni, so that's nice. I want to go to a pride parade, but my parent's think I'm to young to know my sexuality....it's dumb.

Hallo, there! I'm a friend of Chaser and Jay. This is actually the first time I've said anything on CB, and I probably won't really join CB anytime soon, but I've been stalking CB for a little while and imma butt in here.

I get your situation! I'm lesbian, and I've come out to some friends, but not my family. My parents aren't homophobic exactly--they have friends who are queer, and they support LGBTQ+ people--but they would be (particularly my mom)... disappointed in me if I came out to them. So just like you, I'm still working up the courage to tell them.

So, welp, good luck!

gEnDeRfLuId GaNg!

This thread will either take off like Random Thoughts and Confessions and be one of those threads that is always lurking near the top of DtE, or nobody will ever comment on it.

Huh. My school has GSA, but it stands for Gender and Sexuality Alliance, I think.

Really? Huh. Mine has a GSA for Gay Straight Alliance. How interesting. But I agree with Chaser & Jay that I like Queer Straight Alliance better than Gay Straight Alliance.

Mine also has GSA with the "s" being for sexuality. But I also like QSA, I'll bring it up at GSA on Monday...

"Confused about their gender but knows they aren't cis" squad where you at!

Or maybe that's just me.  Yeah, probably.

Also, I'm pretty sure I'm ace and omniromantic!

My genders are a mess :D I use xenogenders (genders based on concepts or aesthetics or things, for instance voidgender feeling like a void - feel free to ask questions!) but think I might be more masculine. I don't really get what gender is, though. I guess I'm part of the "confused about gender but knows they're not cis" squad XD

And my orientation is probably even more messy. "Gayish" is the best thing I can come up with. But I'm oriented aroace, so it's not actually romantic attraction. It's just close. (Oriented aroace: aroace, but you experience another kind of attraction strongly enough that it is important to your orientation.) Figuring this out would be much easier if my gender made sense... but I'm not straight, that's for sure.

Unfortunately I'm not out anywhere. I want to be, but my parents are not... okay with it.

Also, @Interrobang, hi! Hope to see you around more :D And I'm sorry that your parents aren't completely okay with LGBTQIA+ people. Being lesbian is awesome, and I hope that they realize that soon. Although coming out is always your choice, and you never have to.

@Sterling, a-spec club! And confused about gender club :P

@Reuby, you're absolutely not too young to know your orientation. I mean, nobody questions if kids are straight, right? It's just assumed. I hope that your parents are accepting and kind when you tell them. They absolutely should be :)

I was actually thinking of making a thread like this, so I'm glad someone did! I like Gender and Sexuality Alliance because Queer Straight Alliance should be Queer Cishet alliance, right? You can be straight but still queer if you're trans. Although my strongest vote goes to "Queer Sharks Alliance", of course :P

Hmm. Good point. I also like Queer Sharks Alliance, although I think Queer Snakes Alliance is even better. Perhaps we should have a vote on a new name.

Ace squad :D

I'm honestly surprised it took me so long to realize it lol. I spent a long time wondering who I was attracted to before realizing I'm just not.

I haven't really told anyone though, besides my sister and my close friend (who is also ace). I guess I'm just worried my family might think I'm faking it for attention? Or that I'm just 'confused'?

But yes anyway the CB is a great community, super supportive and everything, it's really taught me a lot about LGBTQ things because everyone is always so good about explaining things in a kind way.

Glad to be here, thanks for making this thread, Chaser and Jay! :3

I have decided that despite not joining CB, this shall be the one thread where I make a regular appearance! :D

A-spec gang and confused-about-gender-squad!

@Darkling - C & J haven't been able to check this thread yet, but they say you're welcome (Chaser is sitting next to me in class right now).
