School! Are

School!

Are you homeschooled or public schooled? (I know this has been asked before, but I forgot who is which and I'm curious.:) Are any of you homeschooled now but were public schooled part of your life (or vice versa)? When is school over for the summer for you? Or do you do school year round? What grade are you in?

I am homeschooled and in 9th grade, though all of my friends are in 7th or 8th. I have been homeschooled all my life, but we did strongly consider sending me to school for highschool.  I am finishing sometime near the end of May, but reading history and literature throughout the summer because I have been behind on those for a few years now (because of a time we used a different curriculm for a semester), and decided it was finally time to catch up.

Oh, and if you're homeschooled, what curriculum do you use? I'm doing Sonlight, and I'm almost finished with Core 100. Yay!

I'm in 5th grade, but this is my first year of public school.  School gets out on june 8th (21 SCHOOL DAYS LEFT!!!!!!!!!!) so i have a while to wait.  :(  I was homeschooled 1st grade to 4th grade, and in kindergarten went to a public kindergarten school thing or what ever you call it.  I like both public and home school, but i dont like getting up so early for public school.  :(  other wise though, I like it . Tongue out  happy mom day!

I'm homeschooled. I do not use much of a planned curriculum. For math I do Singapore Math & Life of Fred. For science I do science-saurus. For history my mom teaches me. For latin I do Cambridge Latin and Latin for Americans. For writing I just do one of my fave things to do-- write!

PS: any other people take latin? Lingua Latina optima est. Valete!

@Sasha: Ooh! I do! I do! I take Latin! But I don't know all of what you said. But I'm guessing that lingua=language, Latina=Latin (lol), and est=is or there is.

For math I am now using ALEKS. Halleluia! No more Saxon! It's an online math thing and it ROCKS!

For English I'm doing two Daily Grams a day though I wish I could do the full course of Easy Grammar, but the Latin we use says it teaches Latin and English, which it DOESN'T. It only teaches Latin.

For foreign language I'm using The Latin Road. It's supposed to be a really great curriculum, but I think there are better ones out there. It kind of teaches it slowly and there aren't worksheets or questions you have got to do every day and when there are those things, I retain the information better and I feel like I'm learning more. That's probably why I didn't like Shirley English. Blech.

For science I use Exploring Creation with Physical Science. The book that preceded it was " " with General Science. It's really boring, especially this last module which was about the different air layers or whatever.

For history I am using this American History series of four books. It's by Paradaigm I think. Before I used this history, I could not, and I repeat not stand history. But now it's one of my favorite subjects!

I'm a field-tester for this new geography coming out by Paradaigm. I just wish they would make it more interesting. Right now I'm learning about Africa.

And then we have all these extra books we do like Which Way U.S.A? It teaches about American History and a bit of geography. And then our mama reads us The Mystery of History which in this first book teaches about history from the Creation to Jesus Christ. She also reads us Chester Comics which also teach about American History, but then there are others that are about stuff like spending money and how the bank works and stuff. I used to do spelling, but I finished the book. I put together a test from the words I didn't know from the book, studied them and had my sister read them to me while I wrote them. I only got one wrong. It was aggressive. I spelled it with one 's'! I was so angry at myself and still am! I could've gotten a perfect score! But no! I had to spell it with one s! *thumps self on head*
