Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Friends.I'm makin

Friends.

I'm making too many threads, aren't I?  Oh, well...  How many friends does everyone have?  Does anyone have a best friend?  What are they like?  I only have one friend.  When I was like, eight, I had a lot of friends, but since we moved away when I was nine, I don't have any... :(:(:(  I used to have a best friend, but as we grow older, our differences drifted us apart.  She likes princesses, while I like tigers, for example.

I am not gifted in the art of socializing, so I don't have many friends. That's why I like the Chatterbox - I'm more comfortable chattering online than in person.

Is this a refugee camp for friendless people!?

OK, I have two stories about mean friends.

Number 1:

this started when i moved to first grade. there was a new girl and she seemed really cool. soon she started to bully me, saying, "jenn, if you don't let me use that jumping rope or else i won't be your friend any more." up to third grade, i did whatever she wanted. I was her slave. then i started to tell her,"I don't care. If you don't want to be my friend then don't be.". then i started getting in trouble all the time. she was the teachers pet and i was a nobody. but then we moved to tennessee the summer before 4th grade, and here I met my second meanie.

Number 2:

I was homeschooling, but I met the second girl at my dance classes.

I was popular, she wasn't really. so she acted really nice and said we were bffs.

but then she got a main role in our annual production of The Mini-Nutckracker, and then she was popular, too.  so now she doesn't need me, and soon everyone knew that I don't know what Disney Channel is about, etc. for example: i say ballet and she says that i pronounce it incorrectly. I defend myself, saying that it was the way I learned it , and she just says to her friend ( this is what she really said) " Poor Jen, I suppose she can't help it. Her mother is Japanese, you know."  REALLY loud so I could hear it too. what makes it really ironic is that, when i searched it on Merriam-Webster to check the pronounciation, the waay I say it is actually the one and only correct way!

oh yeah and i forgot the third one, who tells everyone that i must be stupid, because Asian people that homeschool are ALWAYS stupid. For instance, ( this scenario is true and happend when i was in first grade) I'm explaining algebra to my friend ***** and **** doesn't quite get it. meanie #3 walks by and says "that's wrong, you do it this way" and i was forced to agree whith her and she just looked at me like" see? I'm smarter than you and it's because you homeschool" .

and the irony of that is my dad, who won the nashville math competition in 6th grade, did not learn algebra untill middle school!

and BellaTrix, i think thats why i have the mental block about assuming that someone is my friend.

Jenjen

PS i am going to be out of town, aka away from computer, for the rest of the weekend unless my dad brings a laptop which i sincerely hope he does.

*takes deep breath* Okay, sorry Admins.  I'm . . . okay now.  *smiles apologetically*

Jenni, that made me so furious!!!  I wrote a whole rant and it got zapped, but with good reason (unless I'm just being impatient . . . ?).  *is ashamed of self*
Anyway.  THAT IS TERRIBLE.  (I can say that, right?) Why are people so horrible?!?  I will never understand the human race. *shakes head*
I AM your friend, though, Jenni, don't worry. *hugs*
And once again, sorry Admins!!! (But next time, could you please leave a note?  Thanks.)

I'm so sorry everyone has had bad friend experiences. I have not had any, but that is because I am too shy to get myself any friends in the first place. I read in books about people who have best friends who they hang out with all the time, and I get kind of jealous. Like, how are there so many people who seem to be able to pick friends out of their hat?

I like all you guys on the Chatterbox. I'm making lots of friends here. :)

Yeah, people in books ALWAYS have good friends!  It's so unrealistic!

Yeah, I know.  And in some books they don't have anything in common!  So far the only book I've read that is realistic when it comes to friends is Stargirl.

In most books, it's usually like this:

A girl with wavy brown hair is truding across her school's halls.  Her head perks up when spotting a small girl that she had never seen before.  [realistic, right?]

"OMG!" her voice echoes across the school.  "A new girl!  I can't believe it!  New Girl, what's your name?"

"OMG!" the little girl shouts back.  "You're, like, the first person I've met!"

"OMG!  So, what's your name, New Girl?"

"OMG!  It's Ava!"

"OMG!  My name's Keira!"

"OMG!  Want to, like, be my BFFL?"

"OMG!  Like, of course!"

A teacher shakes her head in disaproval as the two girls skip across the hall.

[Just so you know, I hate the expression "OMG", and would never use it in real life, but I had to add the effect to the story.]

You have definitely captured the best friends in all books. That was so funny!

Also, I feel like in books they always say his and her best friend, as if everyone has his or hers. That's pretty annoying.
