Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Hello! Hola! Hurrah!

Hello! Hola! Hurrah!

Boy am I glad the Chatterbox is finally open! I have been checking every day since the beginning of June. Which is why I am wondering, if the Chatterbox only opened today, why on earth are there multiple posts from June 18th and 19th? Anyway, about the Creation/Evolution debate, I am a creationist. But unlike Piccadilly M. and Megan C. and Victoria and Mary A., from the Jan. 05 and Feb. 06 and December 05 issues, I believe that God created the world in six literal days. There is absolutely no need to compromise the Genesis record with Evolutionary rubbish. It doesn't work. Apple trees were created before jellyfish, birds were created before dinosaurs, and all plants were created before the sun! It must have been six literal days or the plants would never have survived. To Telly K. (September 2006): I want to know exactly what studies have shown that the earth is 4.6 billion years old because I'll bet they are false. Secondly, the only reason people think the fossil record is that old is because scientists who use unreliable testing methods say so. And the time line is completely made up and not at all based on fossil depth. It is people arranging the fossils into a convenient order. Also, the third point in her letter is fairly weak. If you believe in creation, then it is easy to see that the moth was created with an 11 inch proboscis to be able to feed out of the particular flower. Lastly, viruses were created to mutate and so survive.

Your observation about the footprints fits perfectly into the creation Model. Oh, and it actually has been accepted even by Evolutionists that Neanderthals were one and the same species as us.

I would like to express my views on all of this. First of all, I used
to believe in God, when I was younger, but as I grew up, my faith sorta
"fell away" to rationality. I'm not trying to criticize/bash anyone's faith or anything. Just to make clear.

Because, there is more scientific proof (fossils) that support
evolution. I do believe that God could not possibly have created an entire world in SIX days. I did a project for science, about evolution, and there are many fossils that could probably prove that evolution did exist. (But Wendy's idea that evolution and the Bible can co-exist is really convincing. It's a great idea. And it could be possible. Or maybe not.)

Also, the animals on the Channel Islands are not seen anywhere else on the world, and the same is for other islands around the world. You know why? Because of evolution. According to Darwin's theory, birds could have flown there and adapted to the environment.

Anyways, all your ideas and beliefs are great, and I really like reading all of them :D

Hope you haven't all fallen asleep or gotten annoyed at me by now... sorry. And again, I'm not trying to insult anyone here. Just stating my opinion.

Dear all the people who have contributed to this letter,

( oh, and thanks to all the people who actually got down to my comment)

My mom is an archeologist, (which, if you don't know, studies evolution) she has found a few bones and is currently teaching.

Now, my mom grew up as a Christian, but she didn't go to church (every Sunday) and she now believes in evolution. I too am a supporter of the big bang, but i think that maybe, out there somewhere that there is maybe a spirit or something that has some power.

any ways, I think that some of you may be correct, but we may never find out. Some of you have really good ideas, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut ( and i am not trying to discorage anybody's faith) maybe some day we could create a time capsule and learn all about the mysteries of the earth.

(but personaly, I like to keep them as mysteries, they make fun topics to talk about!!!!)

so all of you should keep up your ideas, but i think that you all can stop bickering, and embrace each other's differences!!

:-)

In case you didn't know, there is a new spot for this argument on the Down to Earth page because this one is getting really long.  Plus I wrote a new comment (it's kinda in the middle of this one under Shannon L's) Please read it!

I totally agree with The Man For Aeiou. By the way, the egg obviously came first. Dinosaurs were laying eggs thousands and thousands of years ago!

I believe the egg came first. I mean come on. Fish were laying eggs a day before, weren't they? Or did God tell them to reproduce and bear fruit on the fifth day...? If evolution is possible, then why do we see no intermediate links? Why does it "just so happen" that they're all extinct, and, even more, why can't we even find them fossilized? Evolution just dosen't make sense.

I believe that the 6 days doesn't mean six 24 hour days but some longer length of time. I don't like that evolution is taught and my school it makes me feel all nervous and unhappy. I completely believe in the Bible as long as it was translated correctly so it could have gotten a little messed up and a lot is defiantly missing.

There are a bunch of gallaxies and stuff. And we live in one. We are just one planet. And we are a very small thing in this gallaxie, we live on the earth. Then think of all the stars and how big they are. then think of all the other gallaxies and stuff. How could any one create it in only six days? All the gallaxies together. How could one person create all that. Think, we are really small. Think of the small bacteria. So small, inside of a million gallaxies. Are gallaxie is so big. But if you think about it it's so small.

Hey Hermione? I think that we should leave these old threads alone. They are kind of a part of the past, a part that you can't redo. So please could let them be?

Top, not because it is the oldest thread, but because this is a subject I want to talk about.
