I was thinking,

Chatterbox: Inkwell

I was thinking,

I was thinking, we could start a new story chain. You make up a new character, but they CAN'T be from the 21st century (they'll wind up there later). They have to be related to someone famous but NOT an actor, actress, singer, etc.

Mine is: Dehlia Ludington.

Related to a heroine of the American Revolution: Sybil Ludington.

Lives in Fredericksburg NY, 1777

Suddenly transported to the 21st century.

Age: Unkown

Short length blonde hair, blue-gray eyes, exactly 5 feet, rather pale.

Personality: Quiet most of the time, yet speaks out passionately when its something she cares about, strong, dependable, loving.

Hope ya'll like my idea!

Great! Have you ever read Frankenstein? I haven't, so I don't know what is in the book.

Sorry, mind numb, so tired, getting to sleep at one am, watching Top Gear, writing story for latest Cricket story contest... And no, I have not read Frankenstein, so I don't know what the book is about. I suppose we'll just have to wing it till/if SC returns. So, Japan!

Dehlia ~

"Where do we go next?" Dora asked. Elexhiia sighed, then answered, "Japan," Dora and I stood up, then we all said in unison, "I wish to go to Japan."

---

I blinked my eyes open, and my heart stopped. The view before me was the most incredible thing I'd ever seen. I felt like I was up in the clouds, with the world sprawling before me. It was early morning, and the sun was just beginning to peak. It reminded me of the Bible verse, "Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light for my path." An arch stood a little ways away, with a sign welcoming us to the top of Mount Fuji.

"Mount Fuji, that's where we are," I said, turning around.

"I'm not going to bother asking where to find the tears here, and let's just get started," Felix said, starting off.

********************************************************************

This is short, but I really know nothing about Mount Fuji, so I'll let you decide where the tears are.

All right, I'll try. However, I don't really know what is up there, so... let's see.

~Dora~

The place was flat, and I could just make out a trail leading down. My head felt dizzy, and I leaned on my knees again.

"Let's start  looking," I could hear Feliex's voice say.

Errol was checking out the sign. Only a few words were in English, the rest were in a funny sort of writing... Japanese? "Crude letters," he muttered.

Deliha looked around herself, smiling brilliantly.

I stood up, and started looking too. The sun had just risen, and the morning light cast magnificent shadows on everything. The sign, with it's blue paint, the short trees, that didn't look like they were much good for climbing, the shapes beyond them, and all of us, in our own worlds.

My voice broke the miraculous silence. "Well," I said, "let's get moving."

That seemed to do the trick. In a moment, we were looking fora place the tears could be hidden.

I don't know either. I just googled "top of Mount Fuji" and judged from there.

Dehlia ~

We startes scouring the mountain top. The only sound that could be heard were our footsteps and the howling wind, which unnerved me greatly. After the Library incident, I was startled by my own shadow. But we continued to search under every rock, crevice, and hole.

Errol sighed. "It could take hours, days, to find these tears." We'd only been at it for twenty minutes, yet I was already exhausted. The lack of air made me dizzy and lightheaded, and short of breath. I wandered over to the edge, staring down. The light shone now on the cliffs, the wind wipping my hair every which way. Suddenly, I saw something. I knelt down, staring harder.

"What's up?" Felix asked, kneeling down beside me.

"There," I said pointing. A small glint shown about eight feet below.

"The tears!" Felix shouted. Errol and Dora rushed over.

"Great, they didn't need guards, no one can get to that!" Errol said, rolling his eyes. "How do we get down there?"

Great idea! I'll see what I could work out from this... trouble. ;)

~Dora~

I groaned. At least Errol was probably  right. No guards were in sight. But- "Eight feet below! How could they have gotten them in there?"

"A ladder, a helicopter, a hovercraft," Errol started ticking off his fingers.

Deliha looked up from her place on the ground and the three of us asked, in unison, "A what?"

Errol sighed. "Never mind. Just, how are we supposed to get those down?"

Felix shrugged. "Anyone have a portable ladder?" he joked.

Deliha and I glared at him. "Time's  ticking," I muttered.

"Well, do you have any better ideas?" Feliex snapped.

"No, but we don't have time for jokes!" I snapped back.

Errol held up a hand. "You two, knock it off. We have enough to do without fighting." He looked down at Deliha. "Any ideas?" he asked.

Deliha shook her head, hesitantly, "I don't think so...." she started, then trailed off. "Except for jumping down, I don't think so. Unless we tie our scarves and coats together, as a rope. But it's too weak."

I nodded. "The trees, maybe? We could do something with them?"

Feliex shook his head. "I don't know..."

______________

As Feliex said, I don't know... what should we do?

Ha, thanks! I had no idea where to hide them, so I took the cliff idea and ran with it! :) Now, as to how they get the tears...

Dehlia ~

I knelt there, contemplating the situation. There were two options. Jumping, as I'd suggested earlier, or...

"We have to climb down," I said, standing up.

"Wha, wait, what?!" Errol spluttered.

"Please, Errol," I said with a sigh, shrugging off my coat. "We've no other options, with no rope or any other means of climbing down. I guess we'll have to try and tie our coats together to make some sort of rope. It may be weak, but if one of us climbs, we won't be soley dependent on it. The ledge doesn't look very sturdy, but we may not even have to stand on it."

Errol sighed, then started taking off his coat. "Okay, we need whoever's smallest and lightest. Which of you two is smaller?" He looked back and forth between Dora and I with a raised eyebrow. We moved side by side, and though we were both the same size, we finally determined that Dora was slightly smaller and likely lighter.

"You think you can do this?" I asked quietly.

I LOVE that line you gave to Errol. I found it hilarious! So, here we go!

~Dora~

"Me?" my voice was only a squeak. "You want me to go down?"

I had known that it would be either Deliha or I when it had been suggested, but I had never really thought...

"Dora, you're the lightest we have!" Deliha explained. "You have to go! Time is ticking," she added, slyly.

I blushed. "I didn't mean.." I started to say, but saw that it was hopeless. "All right, I'll go."

Between Errol and Feliex, we managed to have a six  or seven foot "rope" with a not at the end, and though it was unstable, it would have to do.

"I'm ready," I said, bravely sitting on the knot, near the edge of the cliff.

"Pull the rope twice when you are ready to come back up," Feliex instructed.

The boys lowered me over the edge, a little by little. Finally, I was about a foot and a half off the ground. I reached downs, and...

"Got it!" I cried out.

I heard Deliha's cheer as I tucked it into my pocket. Then I heard Errol yell, and I was startled feel a sudden jerk of the rope. It was going up!

The sudden movement made me look down, and, from my angle, I could just see an opening to a cave... and a man in a black suit reaching up for me.

There was another jerk of the rope, and I was pulled away just in time. A few seconds later, I scrambled up to solid ground again.

After quickly handing the tears to Errol, who was untying his coat and scarf, and being hugged by Deliha, I dared to peek down the cliff.

The guard was stepping on to a small, floating surface. Then, slowly, it started to move up.

"Hurry!" I shouted. "He's coming!"

Okay, I HAVE written the piece for this, it's just EVERY time, something has happened to it! That and life has just gotten in the way, but you know. NOW I shall write!

Dehlia ~

I promptly hugged Dora as soon as she was pulled to safety, quite grateful she had been pulled up safely. I looked over the edge at the guard. I hadn't the slightest clue what he was standing on.

"What is that?" I asked.

"Some sort of hoverboard," Errol supplied.

"We've got to move. Fast," Felix said. Suddenly a gun shot rang out, hitting the cliff side sending rocks pieces spraying everywhere. Dora and I jerked backward having just been missed. A second shot rang out.

"I wish to go back to Elexhiia!" we shouted, but nothing happened.

"What?!" Felix shouted, staring down at his body like it was supposed to magically disappear. Which it was.

"Ugh, there's not enough light," Errol said. The sun was steadily rising, but its rays had only hit the very peak.

"We need to move higher!" I shouted. We started scrampling up. The holes and crags in the rock kept tripping us up, causing us to cut up our hands, arms, and legs. I glanced back. The guard was now at the top, watching us, preparing another shot.

"Hide!" I shrieked as he aimed the gun. We each dove down behind rocks and in crevices. The bullet sent more rock shards flying.

"How do we take him out?" Errol said. "We're out of stunning range."

"We can't," I called back. "Just keep climbing. We'll be out of his range soon too. He'll have to climb to follow." With that, I dashed out of safety, recklessly scrambling upward. Another shot, just inches of my face. I could hear the others climbing behind me. After a moment, I noticed the gun shots had stopped. I glanced back, and saw the guard climbing after us. Every so often, he'd stop to take another shot. After fifteen minutes of climbing, we were still a ways from the top. But the sun had still be rising at that time, and we were close.

"Almost there," I shouted. I reached for another hand hold, when the rock gave way.

Oh man, what am I going to work out? Well, let's see. :)

~Dora~

"Almost there!" Delha shouted, and grasped another rock, using it to pull her up. Suddenly, I could see the rock crumble, and Deliha was falling, down, down, down.

I couldn't bare to look, and turned my head away. I heard Deliha shriek, and Feliex shouting for her to be careful. Then a grunt, and Deliha's scream. I dared to look.

Down, maybe thirty, forty feet below us, the hovercraft, as Errol had called it, was shakily going up and down. The man was trying to hold on, but he was laying down. His gun was no where in sight, and - I blinked, and looked again, unable to believe my eyes.

There, standing defiantly on the hoverboard, was Deliha, her gun raised, cocked threateningly at the man. Then, in a mere second, the trigger was pulled, and the man lay, almost lifeless it looked like, on the floating craft.

The board floated to a ridge ton the mountain, and Deliha half pushed, half kicked him on to the slab of rock. Then she floated up to us, a big grin on her face.

"Deliha!" I exclaimed. "How- you- are you all right? "I managed to squeak out.

She smiled. "I happened to land on him." she said, gesturing to the limp body. "Well, come on, the sun's going to sink soon."

We scrambled on, and painstakingly floated up. Once at the top of the summit, we shouted in unison, "I wish to go to Elexhiia!"

A flash of light, and we left Japan.

OH MY GOSH! I loved what you wrote for Dehlia! That is awesome!

Dehlia ~

Time seemed to slow as I fell. I screamed, Felix yelled. Suddenly I fell onto something hard. I heard a grunt as something caved beneath me. I screamed as I nearly slid off, my leg dangling in mid air. I gripped onto the easiest thing available, and hauled myself up. I realized I'd fallen on the guard, who was madly trying not to fall as well. I jumped to my feet, trying to steady myself, spreading my feet apart, as the hovercraft swayed wildly. The gun skittered out across the craft, and off disappearing among the rocks. I pulled out my stunner, and gave a quick blast. The board was still moving semi-wildly, bumping against the rock ledge. I shoved the unconcious guard onto the slab of rock.

"Dehlia!" Dora called from above. "How- you- are you all right?"

I grinned back up at her, and said; "I happened to land on him," I said, waving toward the guard. "Well, come on, the sun's going to sink soon." And with that, we continued onward. It took me several minutes to figure how to work this thing, and get the hang of it. But I finally discovered it was actually rather simple for something so futuristic. All I had to do was lean in the direction I wanted to go. I slowly started to rise, still wobbling from time to time. As soon as each of us was within the sun's rays, we shouted; "I wish to go to Elexhiia!" And the world vanished.

---

"Wonderful!" Elexhiia said, gratefully taking the bottle from Errol. I smiled. But as Elexhiia turned away, her face changed to one of worry.

"Where next?" I asked determinedly. "The affect is wearing off, I can tell. We need to get on with it."

Elexhiia hesitated, looking at us out of the corner of her eye. "The final place," she said haltingly, "is here in America. In New York City."

"Great, we were there in the past. This shouldn't be too hard," Errol said.

Elexhiia shook her head. "Quite the opposite. This is probably the most dangerous place we'll have been to yet."

"We'll?" I asked.

Elexhiia turned around, placing a stunner gun in a holster on her belt.

"I'm coming with you."

I'm glad you liked it!

Before I write, what should happen in NY? I think that so far all we've gotten is to be "killed", but what else?

submitted by True
(October 15, 2013 - 5:09 pm)

I was thinking along the lines of maybe the town is quiet, on the verge of desertion, with only armies left. We go to find the tears (I'm not sure where yet, suggestions?), and are met with resistance because this particular group already knew about the group Elexhiia is with. A battle ensues, and during this fight, Max and Volt turn up, having discovered the affects and been listening to our escapades. They've waited till then to strike, so we'll get the tears for them. In all this, we rescue the tears, but are "killed" (we can figure the details as we go). Of course, Elexhiia already knows about the whole "tears infused" items. Did we decide that she should come visit each of them in their times? But anyway, that might be a rough draft for the basic idea. What are you thoughts/ideas? I think we should try to make this last place as exciting as possible!

(October 15, 2013 - 10:14 pm)

I like it!  It's Volt's crew that calls the battle, and kills us? And Max... what will happen to him? Maybe he's so scared to see Elexhiia that his guard is down, and gets "killed"??? And, what are our items, again? A book, a watch, chalk, and... something for Dora. What about Elexhiia? We know she won't actually be killed, but, why and what will happen to her?

Sorry for all of the questions, but I just want to have somethings sure.

No, I'm glad you are! We need to have this planned ahead of time, I agree! Actually, I was thinking that the guards, more like an army really, would start the fighting. In the midst of this, Volt and Max rush in, attempting to gain the tears for themselves. We then are "killed" (again, I'm thinking the details between Volt and Max rushing in, and our deaths, will just have to be winged). As to what the objects were, for Dehlia it was a book, for Felix it was the chalk, for Errol it was the watch, and I'll let you decide for Dora. As to Elexhiia, I was thinking she can use a bit of the time tears, or some such thing, and visit each of us in our times, explaining. But she necessarily tells us how to travel. We have to figure that out for ourselves! Thoughts?

Great! I think it's a good plan, and will try to think up Dora's item. Should we think one up for Max, or what will we do for him?
