Does anybody here

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Does anybody here

Does anybody here know a cure for the word "then?"

I constantly try to not use the word then, but then I end up using other words repeatedly, like "grunted" and "paused" for some reason.

(Okay, maybe the goblins pauese for too long in my story--while grunting)

Plus is there such thing as a synonym for "paused?"

Buttercup should get out more and stop flopping around.

It may just be me, but I like the fight scenes. And the whole Inigo Montoya subplot thing. I would love to take fencing. I just have no time and I don't know anybody who teaches in my area. I just don't have a big problem with stage fighting because real fighting isn't really "good" on camera. When I was Peter Pan, the director had to spend quite a while getting my fight scenes with Hook right (The "quite a while" part may have been my fault, because Hook was Rocky, and we were being absolutely ridiculous about a line in the stage directions - something about Peter "gnashing his pretty teeth in glee". And we were giggling too hard to take much of anything seriously).

Yava says iwaf! Kinda like Wiglaf!

I like stage fighting; it's just when people say to me "Oh! Do you know any of these moves?" I say no, and it makes it kind of dorky. I have a hard time enjoying it, because after awhile it all looks the same in the movies. In play plays it's differnt because if anyone even HAS a pointy object it's cool.

I agree that Buttercup should stop depending on all of the men and punch someone's face out herself. The worst thing she did was puch sWeasly down a hill. If I were her I'd punch the prince guy's face and run out of there.

I don't know why she didn't.

If I was ever put on a pirate ship as a pirate and told to defend myself on the next ship raid, I would not likely survive. My "moves" exist purely from the stage, and have incredibly intense-looking flourishes that are not at all practical. Practicality does not look good onstage.

On Buttercup: You need to start looking out for yourself. In the Fire Forest, when the ROUS's were attacking Westley, all she could do was stand around and gasp occasionally. There was a sword a few feet away. And she had shown herself to be proficient in Poking With A Large Stick. Why not graduate to Smacking With A Large Stick?

I don't think I'd do well captured on a pirate ship either-- I know swords as a sport, not necessarily a fight to the death.

Yeah, Buttercup needs to stop gasping and start doing. Of course, when you run with wolves you become one.

"stopped" "relaxed" "breathed" "sighed" "waited" "lingered" "exhaled" "sneered" "snapped" "croaked" "sat" "stood" "inhaled" "hissed" "howled" "froze"

I Hope This Helps

PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool

I think this may've helped (is may've a word?) but I still made my new year's resolution is "SHOW DON'T TELL!" I know thar has nothing to do with this, but it has to have something to do with this (there are no coincendences).

@L and Theo

Sorry to interrupt your conversation, but this is one of the best I've seen on here in a while.

Re: Pirate Ship Thing

The thing about combat fighting is there are no rules.  There's no real form.  You may get ridiculed by your opponent, but you just want to stay alive.  You should be fine as long as you can hold a sword and can strategize fast.  Just watch your opponent and think of a way to get him.  It's as simple as that.  The trickiest part is blocking his stuff while attempting your own.

Esspecially when they can bock themselves with their own blade and attack at the same time! (shudder). Yeah, I wouldn't be able to make it. I would draw my sword (probably a foil) and have my head cut off in an instant. Which would probably hurt.

Of course, if I ever got captured by pirates and all that jazz, they probably would've disarmed me.
