"My grandmother used to tell me stories about
the old days, a time of peace when the Avatar kept balance between the
Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads. But that all
changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar mastered all four
elements. Only he could stop the ruthless firebenders. But when the
world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years have passed and the
Fire Nation is nearing victory in the war. Two years ago, my father and
the men of my tribe journeyed to the Earth Kingdom to help fight against
the Fire Nation, leaving me and my brother to look after our tribe.
Some people believe that the Avatar was never reborn into the Air Nomads
and that the cycle is broken, but I haven't lost hope. I still believe
that somehow the Avatar will return to save the world."-- Katara

I know probably only Blonde Heroines Rule and I are going to be doing this, but still. You all should watch it!! So you can quote Sokka (the most awesome joke-maker of all time) with me! XD

Should this take place during or before or after the Hundred Year War? Hm, I don't know.

Okay, so your character can be from any of the air temples, either of the water tribes, the earth kingdom, or the fire nation. He\she\it can be the Avatar or the Fire Lord or anyother postions of power, like the Cabbage Merchant or something, but only one person can be those. And they have a lot of responsibility on their hands. They don't have to be a bender. If they, though, please state whcih kind.

And at the end of each post, you must write a quote from Avatar or Korra

So, here's my character:

Name: Anikiruna, but people call her 'Ani' or 'Kira'

Age: Fourteen

Bending ablities: Water bending

Came from: The Northern Water Tribe.

Pets: Farrow, a polar bear-dog like Naga

Looks: Long, fluffy, deep brown hair, aquamarine eyes, and dark skin. Wears a deep bue dress lined with fur underneath an untradiontional milk-white fur cape that covers her and helps her bend into the snow and ice. Her hair is usually loose, falling past her waist.

Personalty: Rebelious, spunky, determened, and head-strong. Will not stop at anything until she has what she wants, when she wants it, where she wants it. If she can not get that, she will work hard to get it anyway. Kind and a good listener as a friend, and very protective of things she cares about.

History: Is the fourteen-year-old, second-eldest daughter of the chief. Believes she will inherit the throne from her father when she is older, as there are no sons in the family, and her elder sister has no wish for it. She has two sisters, Tara, who is four years youger and Kaeldra who is one year older.

Anikiruna~

"Kira, dear, we're sorry!"

"Anikiruna, get back here right now!"

I heard my parents voices echoing down the marble hall. I didn't care. My feet pounded on the ground as I ran. "No! No, you're not sorry!" I shouted back at them. I heard my mother tell my father something.

I didn't care, I didn't care, I didn't care. I told myself this over, and over again. But it did! It wasn't fair!

I reached the door of the room me and my sisters shared. I pushed it open. I threw myself over the threshold and slammed the door behind me. I. Didn't. Care.

I flung myself into a chair, sobbing like an idoit. Why was I crying? I never cried. Now was not the time to cry, anyway, now was the time to act. Yet I just sat there, sobbing.

Tara's face apeared, hovering above mine. "Ani? Are you alright?"

"No! No, I'm not!"

She backed away, frightened. I softened, "I'm sorry, Tara. I just. . . "

Kaeldra apeard next to her. "Ani, what happened?" She asked.

"They. . . they. . . " I couldn't speak, I was sobbing again.

Kaeldra sqeezed into the chair next to me, pulling me into her lap. "Shh, it's alright. Everything's alright."

I didn't want to babied, treated like Tara. But it felt good to sob into my older sisters tummy and not push her away for once.

Finally I stopped crying. "What happened?" Kaeldra repeated.

"They took my crown away. They say Aagen will become cheif when he is older, not me. They say it's for my own good. No girl should take the throne." I laughed bitterly, coldly. That laugh frightened me. It wasn't my laugh.

"Aagen? But he's just baby." Tara said, disbelievingly.

"Yeah, but he's a boy. Boys are the born rulers, not girls."

"Ani, I'm so sorry." Kaeldra said, "I know how much the crown means to you. But--"

"Meant to me?! It was my whole life, Kaeli!" I jumped up from her lap. "And they can just take it away! It's not fair!" I was crying again. Why couldn't I just stop? I wasn't supposed to cry.

"Yes, but-"

"I can't stand that! I can't have my life controlled any longer. I can't stay here!"

"What do you mean, Ani? You're leaving?" Tara's frightened face was pale, making her freckles stand out.

"Yes, I-"

"No, no she's not." Kaeldra stood. "Ani, calm down and think. You can't leave. Where would you go?" She put her hands on my shoulders.

"I don't know! And I don't care! As long as it's away from here. Far away."I slapped her hand off my shoulders. She stood back, looking shocked. Tara looked mroe frightened then ever.

I stalked over to my dresser and threw open the doors. I took a bag and hurridly filled it wih possesions.

"Ani, just listen-"

"No, I won't. I can't have my life controlled anymore. I need to leave."

Maybe she realized she could never convince me, or maybe she can tricking me, but Kaeldra said, "Then at least let me help. You're not going to fit anything in that bag that way."

I agev her the bag. She took everthing out and parctically began sorting through it all and picking what i would most need.

"Where will you go>" She asked queitly.

"I don't know. To the Earth Kingdom, proabably."

"Oh." She finished, handing the bag to me. "You might want to changed," She said, eyeing my 'audiance with the cheif' clothes.

"Yeah." I picked up a dress and quickly changed. Next, I got out my white cape and put it on.

"Ani! Where did you get that?!"

"Ronan. He made it for me."

She shook her head, "You and that boy. Trouble, trouble, trouble." She laughed.

"Ronan isn't trouble." I said inocently.

"Oh, it's not him, it's you."

I playfully slapped her, covering the pang in my heart when I thought of Ronan. I won't be able to say good bye to him. I won't see him again in . . . how long?

I slung the bag over my shoulder. Tara tugged at my skirt. "Ani, don't go."

'I have have to, Tara."

She nodded, then flung her arms around me. Kaeldra hugged me on top on her.

After a moment I broke away. It was late morning and I should get going.

"Goodbye, Anikiruna, crown princess." Kaeldra said softly, her melodic voice liting and clear. "We'll miss you. Come back, please?"

"I will, if I can." I promised. "Goodbye Kaeldra."

"Bye bye, Ani." Tara said. I hugged her again, "Goodbye my Tara."

With that, I turned and climbed out the window, landing on the soft, snowy ground with a slight thump. I set out over the icy plains, my back to my home and my face to the wind.

Kira~

That morning, I dined with Ronan in a small, sunlight breakfast room in the front of the mansion. He raised his eyebrows at how perfectly I ate and I blushed, hoping he didn't guess who I was.  I had to get out o there, fast. The thing was, I didn't want to leave. I felt too safe there.

Then our peaceful morning was shattered by some guards running in and taking Ronan away to talk about something that had to do with his family. I knew this would be the best chance I would get of escape.

I hurried to my room; shoveled my stuff back into my bag, which was still sitting beside my bed; and threw open the window. I looked back at the warm sunlight playng on the walls. Then I looked down at the alleyway below. I sighed. Would it always be this way, me running from once place to another? I knew the answer, but was afraid of it.

I climbed onto the windowsill and sat down. I slowly lower myself off it and dropped to the ground lightly. Or at least it was supposed to be lightly, I actually fell more like an elephant would, but. . .

I then ran into the street, joining the throng. I wondered where Farrow was. Wherever she was, she'd find me. I could count on that. I heard a radio blasting a report of a Pro-bending match. I went closer to listen. My mother had never let me see Pro-bending matches, she said they were 'to violent for my princess eyes'. Now I lstened in awe as the match wore on. Someone shooed me away before it was finished, though. I didn't mind. Republic City had so much to--

I crashed to the ground. A girl was on top of me, we must have bumped into each other. She had brown hair that was done up in a pony tail. She stared at me with her blue eyes. I stared back.

~

So, BHR, that would be your cue. As Liana is now laying on top on Kira in the middle of a busy street. Have fun! XD

Sorry I didnt write in so long, I've been pretty busy, only snatching a few minutes here and there to get on here. Most of those times were too short to write this and when I did have time I totally forgot. So, anyway, we must not let this die!!!!!!!!!

Cool!

Liana ~

As I was backing away, trying to avoid the guy's threatening broom, I crashed into someone, and we both went down. I found myself on top of a girl, who appeared to be about my age, and from what I'd seen of travelers (which was a lot), I could instantly tell she was water tribe.

"Sorry!" I said, scrambling off her, trying to stand up in such a busy street.

"That's all right," she said, also trying to stand up. I finally managed to get somewhat to my feet, grabbed the girl, and lunged toward the street side, ending up in an alleyway. We both sank to the ground, panting. I looked at the girl out of the corner of my eye. I surmised from her clothing that she was likely from the Northern tribe.

"Thanks," the girl panted. She took a moment to study me as well. I know I must have looked a bit of a sight. "I'm... Kira," she said.

I gave a nod. I was a little hesitant give out my name, but finally I answered, "I'm Liana. You're from the Northern water tribe, aren't you?"

She nodded. After a moment she added, "What brings you to Republic City?"

I again hesitated. "I... wanted to start somewhere new. Get to see new places."

She smiled. "Same for me. You have anywhere to live?"

At this I couldn't help but smile. "No," I laughed. "I only arrived today."

"Again, same here," Kira said.

"Well," I said, standing up. "I suppose we might as well try to work together. It's better to have an ally in new places, especially one so busy."

*********************************************************************

So there's Kira's and Liana's introduction! Also, @Corina and Blue Moon: I was thinking of putting Liana in a pro-bending team. Maybe since each of our characters has a different bending, we could make a pro-bending team? Thoughts?

I think having a Prro-bending team would be awesome! We have to think of a good name, though. How about the. . . Koala Sheep! Sounds very fierce, doesn't it? XD Or the Turtle Ducks!

Or the (this is most epic one yet). . . The Pig-Chickens!

Anyway, heres my part:

Kira~

The other girl, Liana, and I were strolling down the avenue, trying not to lose each other in the crowd. That was when he found me.

"Kira!" Tarian's voice was unmisakable.

Shoot, I thought. I grabbed Liana's hand and began to run, pulling her along after me.

"Kira, wait!" He sounded winded. Good, he'd stop following us soon.

"Kira, what's going on?" Liana yelled.

"Explain later!" I panted, looking over my shoulder.

I turned sharply into an alley, stopped and peered out. Tarian was no where to be seen. I let out a sigh of relief.

Liana glared at me. "What was that all about?" she demanded.

"I'm sorry," I said, avoiding her eyes.

"Look," she said, crossing her arms, "if we're going to travel together, no secrets."

I sighed, "I-I. . . um." I grasped wildly for a lie to tell her. I couldn't tell her who I really was, could I? I mean, I hardly knew her!

"Well? Out with it, I promise not to tell."

I looked up at her, "Swear."

"I swear on everything holy I won't tell."

I sighed again. Then I blurted it out, "I'm Anikiruna, ex-crown princess of the Northern Water Tribe."

She stared at me, her eyes wide. "What?"

I laughed at her expression. "I said, I'm Anikiruna, a princess of the water tribe."

'How. . . ?" She looked down at my tattered water tribe clothing I had slipped on befor eleaving Ronan's mansion. She took in my un-traditional white cloak.

I grinned, "I'll tell you over dinner. Anyway, the point is, my father is after me and that guy is the crown prince of the fire nation. He doesn't know who I am, but it's only a matter of time."

She still looked stunned. But she composed her expression a litte and swept a mock bow, "I am honored to make your acquaintance, your highness Anik--"

I slapped her playfully,"I don't do 'your highness'!" We laughed together.

"Well, we'd better find somewhere to stay."

With that, I set off across the city on the arm of my new friend. I didn't know whether to dread the future-or look forward to to. But whatever would happen, I knew it would turn out alright in the end.

Ha! Love it!

Liana ~

I was, needless to say, shocked by this confession. But hey, I was an orphan on the run from the Fire Nation, so who was I to pass judgment? We linked arms, and rejoined the throng of people. We started heading north, since we both figured the area we were in was well out of our price range. I certainly didn't have any money, and being an ex-princess, I doubted she did either. Besides, I wanted to be as far away from the wharf as possible.

It was late evening by the time we reached the north side of the city. You could tell there was a class difference. The homes here were smaller, one story buildings, with far less elaborate decor. Children played out in the street, passing a ball to one another. Mothers stood in doorways calling to their children to come in for dinner. Fathers came home from work. But it was far more peaceful than the busy streets of downtown. I liked it instantly. We traveling a little ways up the street, till we came to a small, two story cottage like building with a sign hanging over the door that read, "Mrs. Birmingham's Boarding House". A little elderly woman, whom I took to be Mrs. Birmingham, stood sweeping the porch.

"Mrs. Birmingham?" I asked politely as we approached. The woman looked up and smiled. She appraised us up and down. There was sympathy in her eyes. I'm sure Kira and I looked a sight.

"Yes, dears, what can I do for you?" she asked kindly.

"Um, we're looking for a place to stay. We can't afford much, we can't even pay you right now, but if you'll just give us a little time..." I plunged in. The woman laughed.

"Yes, yes! I'm quite known by now for taking in strays! You're welcome to stay here, and we'll talk about rent later. Come, I'll show you to your room!" Kira and I grinned at each other, and followed her inside.

So . . . now we need to figure out a way to get them to become Pro-benders. Hm . . .

I'll add a little twist to the story:

Kira~

I stared around the room. It was dirtier and shabbier then the inns I was used to. And we could hear the roudy singing from the tavern next door. That made me uncomfortable. Plus the land-lady's friendlyness unerved me. I wasn't used to people being that friendly.

There was one bed, so Liana and I would have to share.

"Do you snore?" she asked.

I shrugged, "My sisters used to say I did. But I don't think I do. . . " I grinned sheepishly.

We put our stuff away, took cold showers (there wasn't any warm water), and got dressed for bed. I sat down on the bed. The sheets were scrachy, but clean. I lay down, feeling the wearyness of the day catch up to me.

Soon we were both fast asleep, tired to the bone.

The next morning, we were awoken to the loudest bang I had ever heard. Well, not quite. Smoke billiowed in uder the door. Liana jumped out of bed and grabbed our bags. I just sat there blinking. Another explostion rocked the building.

"Come on!" Liana said, pullng me up. A third boom went off.

"What's happening?" I asked, still half asleep.

"I don't know!" she shouted in exasperation. "There's obviously been come kind of explosive planted on the property."

Explosive? Suddenly I was awake. "Oh my gosh, we have to get out of here!" I yelled, jumping up and pulling on my clothes. I threw open the window. I seemed to be doing a lot of climbing out of windows lately.

Someone pounded on our door. I surpressed a scream of panic. Silently, I pulled Liana up onto the windowsill and pushed her out. I tumbled out after her. Then I started running, full on, as the boarding house went up in flames behind us.

Sorry! So busy!

Liana ~

I felt panic surging through me as we clambered out the window. My first thoughts had been that I had been discovered, was going to be forced to have to go back to the Fire Nation. Heart pounding, we slid off the roof, and ducked down an alley, the whole boarding house erupting in flames. I glanced back, and saw Mrs. Birmingham standing on the porch, watching us flee with an unnerving calmness. Two boys stood beside her, also watching. I ducked my head. I instantly knew I didn't want them knowing what I looked like. I never wanted to see them again. We continued running, being spurred on by the sound of alarms and shouts of people all heading toward the boarding house. Finally, we could no longer hear anything but the normal sounds of life in Republic City. We sank down to the ground, heaving and gasping.

"Never.. will I... accept... boarding... from generous litte old ladies!" Gasped out Kira. I would have laughed had I been able to.

"Agreed," I sighed. I still couldn't shake those stares, nor the feeling of fear of being discovered. I was determined never to go to another orphanage. Here, or in the Fire Nation. Not ever.

"Where to now?" I asked, when we were able to stand again.

"I'm not sure," Kira answered. She stiffened suddenly, and I followed her gaze. She was staring at a tall, important-looking young man.

"Who is that?" I demanded, hands on hips.

"Never mind, let's go!" she said, hurrying in the opposite direction. I sighed, and followed. We continued down the street, which was now mixed with low-class and high-end homes. We also passed the police station, so I figured this was more the political side of town; suddenly, I stopped in front of a large building.

"Pro-Bending Arena" was written across the front.

"Kira, look!" I said excitedly.

Kira~

When we saw the Pro-bending Arena, it made my day. Running from Tarian was getting a bit tiring. Why did he have to chase me so relentlessly?!

"Come on!" I yelled, pushing open the doors with one arm and shoving Liana inside with the other.

I strode up to the counter. "Hello," I said confidently.

"Hello, how can I help you?" the receptionist's voice asked.

Here, my plan fell apart. "Um. . . " Then I saw a poster behind the desk, saying "Calling all skilled benders!" Then, below, it had a picture of some benders fighting. Then, it went on to say, "We need new pro-benders; come and try your luck at our Arena! You might make the next big team!"

My heart started beating overtime. "My friend and I would like to sign up for the audition," I blurted out.

Liana looked at me like I was a mutant orange fuzz-ball with chicken legs. I grinned back at her.

"Last minute, aren't you?"

"Um, er, yes ma'am."

She smiled, "Well, since the audition starts in an half an hour, why don't you have a seat?"

"Okay, ma'am." I pulled Liana over to the row of seats and plopped down, feverishly hoping Tarian wouldn't find me.

"Are you crazy?" she whispered.

"Probably.," I whispered back.

Liana ~

Yes, I'd always wanted to be a Pro-bender, but signing up on the spur like this was kind of nuts. Plus, I wasn't sure I wanted any sort of fame. If we actually managed to pass, I didn't want my name everywhere. But I sat down with Kira, and couldn't help but start feeling excited. As time neared, more and more people arrived. All were of different types and bending. Yet I didn't feel the least bit intimidated. Kira and I grinned at each other.

"Competitors," a man said walking in. "Please follow me." We stood, and followed him into a large arena. Stands lined the walls where specators usually filled them to the bursting, screaming and cheering. Today there were some, but not near as many. Kira and I got a few sideways glances and snickers, but we weren't to be deterred. I couldn't help grinning the whole way.

"Here, you will all be competing against each other. Random pairs will be drawn as to who will go against who. We will continue eliminating people until we reach the final three. These three will make up the new Pro-Bending team. The winners will also be sponsored by the sponsor of this tournament, Mr. Ukan Meron!" A man dressed in a fine suit of bright red fabric stepped forward smiling a smile of self importance. He evidently knew his worth, and liked to flaunt it.

"Now, brave..." here the announcer started coughing to cover a laugh when he spotted Kira and I, "young competitors, we will begin the first round!"

Must. Not. Let. This. Die. Anyways, sorry, forgot about this. But I will not let it die! Also, Blue Moon, should we have you in our pro-bending team? Because they are trying out right now, so. . . .

Kira~

Liana and I were led into a huge arena. I had never seen the real thing and I gawked.

"Alright!" the anouncer shouted. "I will divide you into teams and each team will compete against others, until there is only one left!" I swallowed nervously. Liana and I were the youngest people in the arena.

The anouncer asked us to line up. Then he walked own our line, pairing up people. They made six teams. And us. There was no last person for our team. ((we can add another person later, but I want to leave it open for Blue Moon to put her character in)). The anouncer didn't even give us a second glance, just handed us a sign saying we were the seventh team.

The competition started. Team 1 and Team 2 went out first, battling each other. Team 2 won. Then it battled Team 3 and so on, until Team 5 was the only one left. Well, and us.

Team 5 was conposed of three big, blurily men. They leered at us as the anouncer anounced that Team 5 and Team 7 would now battle!

I felt like screaming. I was scared. But we went down onto the stage anyway and preparred to fight.

Cool!

Liana ~

We entered onto the stage, each in our own corner. Since this wasn't an official tournament, we were given minimal gear. I pulled on the gloves, elbow and knee pads, and finally the headgear. We lined up facing each other on opposite sides of the arena. I stood on the far left, Kira in the middle, and a final a final girl on the other end. The referee stood outside the ring at a safe distance. I leaned forward, bracing my body, my hands clenched into fists. I was ready, this is what I was meant to do. I was pent up, ready for action. I could practically feel the fire coursing through my veins, waiting to be released.

"First team to knock their opponents out wins!" Shouted the referee. Nice, basic rules, no "by the way, no killing, mangling, or any other life threatening/lasting injuries" or any type of "keep it clean" sort of anything. Ah, well, at least when we win, if there's any sort of lawsuit, we can tell them it wasn't in the rules!

"Ready, steady, go!" shouted the referee. The two teams launched themselves at each other. Fire erupted in both my hands. I decided to be unpredictable, and shot the first flames at the guy at the far end opposite me. It caught him off balance since he'd been expecting it from the girl directly in front of him. He stumbled, trying to make sense of where the blast had come from. The girl immediately took charge. Kira was already locked in combat with the guy in front of her, who seemed to be an earth bender. I took on the guy in front of me, who had slowled to study what I was doing. Smoke curled from his fist. So, fire against fire, huh? I turned up my palms, rocking from foot to foot with anticipation, a devilish smile on my face. I raised my eyebrows in a mock "after you" sort of way. He took his cue, and fired. I easily dodged and dispersed each one. He kept firing as hard and as fast as he could. I let him. I knew our size difference, and my limitations. I had to wear him down some first. After I saw him starting to sweat, I took action. I jumped forward over one blast, landing and sliding beneath another, sending a huge wave of fire toward him with a sweep of my foot. He braced himself and cleared away the fire. But just as soon as he could see again, I had already sent another blast, which knocked him back several feet. It was my turn to send repeated blasts. Another big difference was I was younger, thinner, and faster. In Pro-Bending, strength of muscles wasn't as good as speed. And our bending strength was just about matched.

I wasn't sure how long we'd been dueling. It felt like a long time, though it was probably only a few minutes. But both sides were wearing down. I'd been so busy and I couldn't even tell how Kira and the other girl were doing. I jumped and somersaulted over a fire blast, landing in a kneeling position, slamming my fist into the ground. A ring of fire shot out from me, slamming hard into my opponent. Finally, I mustered the last of my strength into my fist, and gave a punch. A large ball of fire hit my opponent squarely in the chest, sending him flying from the ring.

So the other girl can be Kun if you want Blue Moon. And that was Liana's fighting! That was really fun to write! I love imagining battles!

Kira~

I concentrated on the man in front of me. Everythin else faded into nothing behind me and around me. It was just me and him. And I was quicker and more agile by far.

He was an earthbender and kept making the floor below me roll. I just jumped when it came on. He sent those disk thingies at me and I blocked with a wall of water. I shot ice shards at him, over and over, making him back up farther and farther. Finally, he was at the edge He turned, staring down at the water below. Bad move. I though, grinning. I sent a wall of water slamming into him and he went screaming over the side. I saw Liana do the same on one side of me. I loved this. It was what I had been meant to do. I knew it.
