RP TIME!!Hel

RP TIME!!

Hello there children of earth, I am your new leader, ~Blue Fairy~

Sorry, I had a lot of sugar today...Tongue out

How about an RP where people get trapped in a different world, place, or time. The places will change every 2 weeks. I will say a deadline when the place will change, unless it's a good place and the story is going on very nicely. I shall now rip up pieces of paper with location ideas on it and will be right back!

I'm Back!!!!!!!

First my profile!!!!!

Name: Alyss-Mae (Alice-May) Chestnut

Age: 16

Phyiscal description: Long curly auburn hair, gray Eiffel Tower shirt with white jean shorts (like my book charrie of a book I'm writing...), sneakers, purple eyes

Weapon (only used sometimes): Bow and arrow and dagger

Personality: Sarcastic, caring, friendly, funny, smart, can be rude if in a bad mood.

Family Background: Her dad disappeared while visiting another world, Mother lives with her but works a lot.

Other: She has no knowledge of ancestors, is a good biker and swimmer, thought her dad died in a boating accident, until now.

You can start your story from how your character got there or just start in the world.

Alyss-Mae--

"Honey, wake up." Mom shook me from my sleep.

"What?" I mumbled, still asleep.

"It's about dad."

When I heard his name, I woke up fully and sat up on my bed. "Yes?" I said

"He didn't die in a boating accident..." my mom said, looking down. "He's a traveler."

I had no idea what that meant until my mom told me. A traveler is a person who can travel to another world or time or place any moment. These people are special, and there must be one from each generation of picked families. They are picked by a group of people from different worlds, and they only pick people who have magic in their blood. My dad was picked and now, me. As these thoughts processed in my mind, my mom told me my dad was taken to another world right before my brother got married. He never came back. She also told me that there are bad people, looking for us travelers, trying to kill us (BLUE FAIRY NOTE!!! PLOT IS RIGHT THERE!!!) and go searching for us in all different places. My mom got up and got me a bow, arrow, and dagger.

"These were your father's," she said, tears in her eyes.

"No, this can't be true!" I said. I ran near the basement door.

"Honey, come bac-"

That was all I heard; I had traveled into a different world already.

That was my intro. And now time you were waiting for... They are in.....

A MURDER MYSTERY PLACE!!!!! So, they are in the middle of a murder mystery. WHODUNNIT?!?!?!

HAVE FUN!!!

I hope it's not too late to join. By the way, I'm going to try to write as a boy, which I don't do much.

Name: Samu Till (Za-Moo)

Age: 16

Appearance: Dark brown hair, tan skin, tall, very deep dimples, dark brown eyes

Weapon: He's good at using random objects as weapons. He is also good in hand-to-hand combat.

Samu-

"Are you even listening?" Cara yelled at me, finally taking her eyes off her lines. She's obsessed with theater and wants to become an actress when she grows up. Since I'm her best friend, I get the job of listening to her practice lines for her various different auditions.

"M'hm..." Okay, truthfully, I was too busy thinking about my mom killing me when I gave her my biology grade. She assumes that her love and knack for memorizing parts of the human brain rubbed off on me. Frankly, I've got better things to worry about.

"You're supposed to listen and tell me what I can do better," Cara huffed. "I thought you supported me." She gave me her saddest puppy face, her red lower lip, jutting out. Cara always manages to make me feel guilty one way or another.

"I'm sorry. Really. I'm just- Can we do this some other time? The later I come home, the angrier Mom'll be." I stood up, pulling up my Levi's and grabbing my backpack as I did so.

"Sure. I'll just practice this by myself then. Or recite it in front of Kitty." I headed for the door of her room, which was covered with posters from the various musicals and plays she'd been to. "And don't forget to pick me up tomorrow. I don't want to be late for math again."

"Got it. See you tomorrow." With that I left, the dread of telling my mom growing as I walked towards my car. I tried to drive as slowly as possible, although at some point I'd have to face mom anyway. Or so I thought.

I turned into the driveway and grabbed my backpack off the passenger seat.  Only a few steps and I'd be the victim of mom's rage. At the end of one of her loud lectures, she'd tell me what she did every time: "You're so much like your father." And she'd stomp out of the room.

I reached the doorstep and while I was wondering whether to open the door myself of ring the doorbell, I started to fly. Seriously. I had no idea what was happening. My stomach turned, making me wish I hadn't eaten the burittos at school. And then I slammed into a floor, right in the middle of two girls and a man dressed like someoone from my history book.

Alyss-Mae~~~~

Admist screams of fright, I heard a few more thuds. The lights flickered back on, and I saw a few more kids near my age were in the room. One was a girl who looked close to my age with blonde hair, and the other was a boy who looked my age or older, and frankly,he was kind of attractive.

"Well, the lights are back on, so carry on with your conversations." Chester said.

I looked at my feet, feeling embaressed for not wearing as dressy clothes as the others. Suddenly, a flash of a few other people came through my eyes as a vision, and my body shook. I knew they must be coming too.

The boy walked up to me and asked "Did you feel that?"

"Yeah, I did." I said.

"Did you see that?" the girl asked.

"Yeah, I think all three of us did." The boy said.

"I'm gonna go check with the other people to see if they saw it too." the girl stated. Then, she hurried off.

"What's your name?" the boy asked.

"Alyss-Mae Chestnut, what's yours?" I replied.

"Samu, Samu Till."

"Nice to meet you. Now, what time period did you come from?" I said.

"2013, why?" Samu asked.

"Because I'm in a completely different period, and I was wondering if I wasn't the only one from 2013, because I would get SO BORED if all I would hear for how long we're in the place of people talking all 'I'm a British chap, there's no tv, what clothes are you wearing young lassie?' and blah blah blah."

Samu chuckled and smiled, showing his deep dimples.

"Well I can assure you lassie, I know what a tv is." he said, copying a old time british guy's voice.

I laughed, and he smiled.

"So, you're a traveler?" I asked.

"I guess, I mean I just went back in time for goodness sakes! I have know idea what the heck happened, you know." Samu said

"Yeah, I guess. It means we have magic in our blood or whatever, my mom said. Like that stuff is real!" I said, feeling a strange pain in my heart.

"Next thing you know, we'll be all Harry Potter like! I'll see ya around," he said.

"Yeah, bye." I replied.

I walked out into the hallway by myself. I knew it wasn't right to search someone's house without them, much less without their permission, but I'm so curious.

The hallway was long, strecthing from one area to one staircase far away, with doors on the walls. I walked in peace.

Suddenly, I heard footsteps following me. I turned around, no one was there. I kept walking, still hearing the footsteps pattering behind me. I started running, with the footsteps gaining speed too.

I rushed into a room, with a girl screaming uncontrolablly.

Kiari ~

I left the two other kids who were evidently from my time, and headed off to see if I could find out what I'd just seen. I tried talking to people, but no one would talk to me. It was as if I didn't exist. All they would do was chat lively with each other, or talk in low voices about Isabella.

"What the heck is it with you people?!" I nearly shouted at one point. This got me a few sideways glances, but I was still otherwise ignored. I groaned and stormed out of the room. I'd figure this out some other way. I started up a large staircase heading to the second floor. Somewhere in the back of my mind, it warned me not to snoop through someone else's house, but I ignored it. I started down the hall, looking around. Doors exactly the same were evenly spaced apart going in both directions. I figured they were mostly bedrooms. I finally decided to try one, but it was locked. Not deterred, I took several steps back, prepared to run at it. I ran, shoulder forward, and... passed right through it. I landed on my stomach on the floor. Groaning, I looked back at the door. It looked completely solid. Then I looked in front of me. A large bay window stood wide open, the curtains flying wildly, and a strong wind blowing through, yet the sky looked like night. It'd still been afternoon when I entered the house, and that was hardly twenty minutes ago.

"Oh this is so not. normal." I said. Suddenly something flew in. I jumped to my feet, pulling out my crossbow. I couldn't make it out. It was like a glowing ball of light. I fired once, sure I had hit it. But nothing. It gave a blood-curdling shriek, and launched itself at me. I did the logical thing. I turned and ran. I screamed as it hit me in the back, sending me flying back through the door, and into the banister. I fell forward over it, screaming again. I just managed to grab on to the railing rungs and held on, dangling over the main foyer.

"Oh this SO isn't normal!" I said, terrified.

Zira--

I sat on the porch, perched on the edge of my chair. The sunlight came down in soft rays, dappling the trees around us.

"Hurry up and make your move, Lani, I've been waiting all day." I frowned, staring from the chessboard to Rita and back again.

"I told you I didn't want to play chess. You always win." She pouted, at last tearing her gaze from her bishop.

"Come on, you might win this time, you never know." I smiled, feeling an inward sensation of victorious elation.

"Zira I-" Her words were cut off when a flash of light flooded the garden. I rubbed my eyes, finally making out the cause of the outburst. A brown-haired girl stood before me, looking very much like she had just stepped out of a Star Wars film. For all I know, she might have. Fully decked in futuristic armor, she carried a large and extremely dangerous looking weapon.

"I know one of you has it. Hand it over." Her voice rang out clearly through the trees, full of malice.

"Well," I said, cocking my head slightly, "You look... cheerful." I could hear Lani beginning to hyperventilate beside me. The space-girl narrowed her eyes.

"Very funny. Now if you value your ship, you will give it to me."

"I quite honestly, have no idea who you are or where you came from or what you want." I kept my voice calm, staring into her eyes. "I'm pretty sure neither of us took anything recently." I glanced at Lani, who just shook her head.

"I don't want any of your tricks," she said through gritted teeth, a deadly note entering her voice.

"I don't have any, sorry." I gave her a grim smile, earning me a big sigh. "Anyway, innocent until proven guilty."

"I don't have time for this." She lifted her blaster/gun thing. "Deus, set to stun." Okay, maybe she was from Star Trek. I was always more of a Star Wars fan. Thoughts of both, however, were instantly dispelled from my mind as the girl fired a small beam of light at Lani. She fell to the ground, body rigid, her red hair splaying out on the porch. My heart skipped a few beats.

"Surrender," the brown-haired girl whispered, training her weapon on my forehead. I broke into a run, hearing the footsteps fade behind me as I began to travel. The bright sunlight faded to black and back to light again as I stepped out onto a marble floor. This new place wasn't much better. Screams came from different directions and I saw a blaze of light.

My first thought was: Why is the Star Trek/Star Wars space-girl following me?  Then I heard a blood-curdling shreik, followed by the sharp twang of someone firing a crossbow. A blond-haired girl streaked past, and I could just catch her words as the ball of light leaped closer:

"This is SO not normai!"

Samu-

Either I had fallen asleep on my doorstep and was having the strangest dream ever or I had officially gone insane. Alyss-Mae had talked about travelling and acted as if this was a normal every day thing and then she just walked out of the door and into the house without a look of worry on her face. This had to be a dream.

I started to pinch my arm.

"What are you doing?" The only other girl in the room asked me. She was fairly short with wavy blond hair in a messy bun. I couldn't help staring at her for her eyes were strikingly black.

"Trying to wake up." I answered.

The girl looked at me as if I was insane (at the moment, I wouldn't doubt it).  "This isn't a dream."

I stared at her. That's when I noticed she was holding a crossbow. No normal person carried a crossbow. She stared back, her eyes like daggers. "I guess, I'll go look around." With that, she left.

Where was Cara when I needed her? She would be ecstatic if she travelled to the 19th century. She would start talking in an English accent, like the old man earlier, and together we'd run through the house, enjoying ourselves. But Cara was not here.

I decided to search the house like the others. It was better than staying in this room alone with the white outline of someone's body.

The floors were made of polished wood. Fancy vases and huge pictures adorned the walls and empty corners. A few maids dressed in black dresses with white aprons passed me but they seemed to take no notice of my presence. I randomly picked a door and stepped into a bedroom. The walls were painted burgundy and a huge bed with a canopy and about 20 pillows was set across from a huge window, which looked out into a massive yard.

I took another step into the room.

"Who are you?" I jumped and spun around. Where had the voice come from? That's when I noticed the frail face amongst the pile of pillows. "Come closer." The woman lying in the bed wasn't that old, maybe 25, yet she looked sickly. Her skin had a greyish hue, her eyes were red and puffy and her hair stringy.

"I-I didn't know that someone was in here. I'm sorry. I'll leave." I stammered.

"No." She reached out a long-fingered hand. "Please. Stay." She patted the bed. "Why don't you sit down?"

I did so, assuming I couldn't argue with her anyway.

"My sister, Isabella, was murdered. We found her in the drawing room, a knife in her chest. She was such a lovely girl, about your age, and engaged to be married." The woman sniffled. "I wish I had never seen her corpse. Every time I close my eyes I see her body."

"When...?"

"Late last night. She disappeared after dinner, complaining of a stomach ache and when Mama went to check on her... She wasn't there. We started to search and-" Her voice cracked and she started to sob. "I never got to say good-bye. We had had a fight, you know, the way sisters do. My last words to her were-" More uncontrollable sobbing. Not knowing what to do, I took her hand. It felt dry and thin. I searched for words but I have never been one for comforting. All of a sudden I heard a scream. I dropped the woman's hand and left the room without even a goodbye.

I dashed down the hall and rounded a corner. There I found Alyss-Mae and a black haired girl.

"HELP!" The blonde girl from earlier was dangling from the railings. If she fell, she'd hit the white marble of the entryway.

"Thank goodness, Samu! We can't pull Kiari up. She's too heavy."

"I'm slipping!" Kiari cried.

Without a word, I sprinted down the stairs and into the foyer. "Okay, Kiari, you have to let go. I'll catch you."

"No way!"

"Yes, you have to let go. On three. One... Two... THREE!" Kiari flew through the air towards my outstretched arms. Screaming like a banshee, she hit me and we both toppled to the floor.

Kiari ~

I was still dangling when the girl I'd met earlier, ran up with another girl with jet black hair.

"Hang on," Alyss-Mae said. The two tried to pull me up, but with no success. Suddenly I noticed the guy from earlier.

"Help!" I shouted at him.

"Thank goodness, Samu! We can't pull Kiari up. She's too heavy," Alyss-Mae said.

"I'm slipping!" I added. Without a word he ran down the stairs. "Kiari, let go! I'll catch you!" he called.

"No way!" I shouted back.

"Yes, you have to let go. One, two, three!" he shouted. I tooke a deep breath and released. I screamed as I plummeted, thinking several things as I fell that weren't overly polite. I fell hard into his arms, both of us toppling head over heels at the force of my fall. I lay sprawled out on the ground slightly dazed, and more than a little sore. I pushed myself up, rubbing the back of my head.

"Thanks," I said grinning. "I owe you one." He smiled back, rubbing his wrist. "No problem."

The two girls came running down the stairs, helping us to our feet.

"What happened?" Alyss asked breathlessly.

"I haven't the slightest clue," I answered. "I decided to check out one of the bedrooms, but it was locked. So I tried... unlocking it, and I passed right through the door. Literally. That's when I saw this glowing thing. I shot at it, but nothing happened. Then it screeched, and knocked me back through the door, and over the banister."

Alyss looked at me doubtfully.

"It's true, I saw it too," the black haired girl said. "I'm Zira," she added at our questioning looks.

"And I take it you're a traveler from 2013 too?" Samu asked. She nodded. I strapped my crossbow back onto my thigh, and placed the rest of arrows in my belt.

"Well, we're all stuck here, so now what?" Zira asked.

"I guess we keep exploring and see what we can find out," Alyss said. "See if we can find any other travelers. If there's us, it only stands to reason there might be more."

Alyss-Mae---

Everybody nodded in agreement with my idea of splitting up to cover more ground.

"How can you seem so careless, Alyss-Mae! We're in a different time and place with a murderer on the loose and possibly people trying to kill us and you're just all like carefree and like this is normal, and we're just standing here, feeling lost and scared!" Samu said, kind of shouting.

"Do I really look ok? My dad was killed doing this! I'm probably freaking out more than you guys right now, but I'm acting calm just because someone may see through my cover and think I'm his daughter! And I'm not all carefree! I have lots of fears, and I can use this bow and arrow and dagger and probably fight with my hands! Does it make sense that I am freaking out, I COULD DIE!!" I said, then I fell to the ground, sobbing.

"Alyss-Mae!" Zira said, and went on the ground and hugged me.

"Samu, can you see I've been broken inside for so long, I didn't even get to see my dad at my sweet 16! None of you probably got someone you know killed from doing this, but I have! I've been keeping it inside at school but cried at home, but you just broke me!" I said through tears.

Zira hugged me even tighter, and Kiari looked like she was going to cry, like she has been through something like this before.

Samu took my hand to help me stand up, and held on the my shoulders as he said "Alyss, I had no idea! I'm so sorry! We will find whoever killed your dad and stop them from tearing apart more families, I swear." Then, he hugged me, letting me cry into his shoulder.

After a few moments of sobbing, I looked up at Samu and said a small thank you, and hugged him. I walked back and found a mirror, making sure my mascara was now completely off since I wasn't going to walk around with some mascara on and some off. Then, people would think I'm more crazier than I am now, like who wants to see some girl you hardly know walking around your house with mascara stains all over them? Not me!

"I'm going to go this way, Kiari should go this way, Zira should go this way, and Samu, you should go this way," I said pointing in different directions while saying that.

The other two started walking in their assigned directions, but Kiari stayed behind and asked "Are you sure you are ok with going by yourself, after what just happened?"

"Yeah, I think I got it."

She gave me a tight, quick hug, then hurried off.

I started walking down my hallway. It was a bit drafty, so I rubbed my arms. I passed a mirror and looked at my reflection. In the background, I saw a strange glowing ball of light, much like the one Kiari saw before. All of a sudden, the words "I am Isabella" appeared on the mirror, then an arrow pointing to a door. Startled, but certain Isabella was no foe, I walked in the door.

The room had red wallpaper and a dark wooden floor. Bookcases were all over the place, with couches and chairs too. The only light came from the fireplace, where a steady fire was burning. I took a candlestick, stuck it in the fire, and used it as my light. There were a lot of pictures, but I came across something that really startled me. On a desk was a paper. On the top it said "The Travelers" with names written under it and dates the people were around. Some dated back to prehistory, while some dated to 2 million years in the future and beyond. I saw one name that startled me, Isabella, with a big red x on it. Isabella must've been a traveler. Then I saw one that really got me pale: Erik Chestnut, my dad. It had a circle on it, with some unreadable words, but it definitely did not say dead. I was happy knowing that my dad was alive, for now. Then, I saw Samu's name, and Zira's, and Kiari's, and worst of all, mine. They had circles around them, with little xs circling the circle. Some other names were like that, too.

I was scared that somebody in this house knows about us travelers, and wants to kill us. I heard a footstep. I turned around, but someone who was hiding behind me knocked me out.

I got up, a bit miffed no one had come when I screamed. I fixed my hair and adjusted my guns. Suddenly, there was a zip of light and an overpowering pain in my head. Something kept stinging me, over and over again. I ran, screaming my head off.

I burst out into a big entry hall. My arms were covered in welts. I screamed again. Whatever it was stung me again. Pain shot through my body. It felt like I had been shot again. I picked a random hallway and shot down it, pain making my vision spotted. I arrived in a room with a girl with long auburn hair standing by a desk with a book on it. The pain was getting worse. I screamed again and crumpled to the floor. She turned, her eyes wide with terror. I must've looked terrible, with my red welts and smeared mascara. Then I blacked out from the pain.

Samu-

I felt bad for making Alyss-Mae cry but it had gotten me to thinking, if her dad died while travelling, had the same happened to mine? I doubted my mother was the one with the travelling gene, being a professor and all. However my dad had been a very curious person, always yearning for adventure, and he often travelled around the world. He died when I was ten. Mom told me it was in an accident, that he'd been in the jungle and an animal had attacked him. But when I come to think of it I couldn't see my dad NOT surviving something like that. He was a trooper. Suddenly a loud scream shook me out of my thoughts.

I ran towards the sound, coming to a room. The door was wide open and two girls lay on the floor. One was Alyss-Mae, the other I didn't recognize but her body was covered in ugly red welts. Had somebody purposefully knocked them out? If so, that person was still in the room.

I leaned against the door and peered behind it. Nobody to be seen. I quickly jumped behind the door and slid along the wall, studying every corner of the room. Was the person gone already?

I looked around for a weapon and found a thick wooden bowl, set on a table near one of the windows. It was heavy but better than having nothing. I stepped into the middle of the room, which was probably a really stupid idea. Almost immediately, I heard a sound behind me. I swung around and smashed the bowl over the person's head. A woman dressed in black and white, carrying a dust cloth crumpled to the floor. She cleary wasn't the right person, I thought, before something hit me over the head and knocked me out.

Kiari ~

I felt bad for Alyss-Mae. I could relate. I'd never known either of my parents. I'd known I was a traveler, since I'd accidently done it once before, though I'd only sent myself back two minutes. But I never knew which parent it came from, or what happened to them. Hearing Alyss-Mae's story, I now wondered if they'd died traveling, or been trapped somewhere.

I continued along the corridor, keeping a watchful eye out. This place was far bigger than it looked on the outside. And I still hadn't forgotten how it suddenly looked like night. This place was seriously freaking me out. Just then, I heard screaming coming from back up the corridor. I immediately turned around, and started running back that way. Suddenly,

"Dang, I'm seriously getting sick of this stuff!" I shouted, rubbing my head as I sat up. Zira was sprawled out in front of me, having just run into her.

"Sorry," I said, as we got to our feet.

"Did you hear screaming?" she asked. I nodded. Without another word, we headed down the hallway where the scream had come from, keeping a sharp eye out. We came to a bedroom, the door cracked open. I heard a slight movement inside and nodded at Zira, who nodded back. I pulled out my crossbow, though if it was anything like the ball of light, it wouldn't do a lick of good, but we entered anyway. Several people, including Alyss-Mae, Samu, a girl I'd never seen before, and what I figured was maid, lay on the floor. I prayed they were merely unconcious and not dead.

"What the heck happened here?" I whispered to Zira, crossbow at the ready. She shrugged. We slowly walked into the room, walking over to Alyss-Mae, whom I noticed held something in her hand. Zira felt her pulse while I looked at the note.

"The Travelers" was written across the top, with a bunch of names underneath. I noticed each of our names on there too, which made me shudder. Then two names in particular caught my eye.

John and Lily McCallister, their names circled.

I wasn't sure why, but they looked familiar.

"She's alive, just knocked out," Zira said. I looked up, nodded, and passed the paper to her. She skimmed over it, looking nervous.

"We've got to get out of here," she said, and started trying to wake up Alyss-Mae. I crossed over to Samu, and started shaking him. Fear had already started to mount. The more I stayed here, the more panicked I felt.

@BlondeHeroinesRule- Good Luck on NaNo!

Samu-

I woke up to a girl with the most striking eyes I'd ever seen shaking me. As soon as she noticed that I was awake she stopped, a look of relief on her face.

"Why, hello beautiful!" I said, regretting it as soon as the words left my lips and I saw her shocked expression. How. Could. I. Be. So Stupid. Of course, a girl as pretty as her wouldn't want to be hearing words like that from me. I wasn't in her league.

"Samu, are you feeling okay?" She knew my name? Wow, this kept getting better. She brushed a strand of blonde hair behind one of her ears. Despite the messy bun and that some of her mascara was smeared, she looked like an angel. Except I doubt any angels had eyes like that. "Samu?" That's when it came back to me. The travelling, the questions about the circumstances of my Dad's death, Isabella's murder, Alyss-Mae, Zira and... "Kiari?"

"Yeah. You got a nasty blow on the head. Sit up slowly." She put a hand on my arm to help me sit up. The world spun, and I felt nauseaus but managed to stay upright. Kiari took her hand off my arm and umcomfortably shoved her hands into her pockets. Gosh, I was such an idiot.

Someone groaned and I saw Zira next to Alyss-Mae who was rubbing her head. Zira knelt next to another girl who looked like she was in really bad shape. Welts covered her arms and her eyes were still closed.

"What happened to her?" Kiari gasped, looking panicky. I resisted the urge to put my arm around her.

All I could feel was the pain. It felt like I was lying on a bed of needles. I could hear murmmering voices, but I couldn't focus on any of them because my head hurt so freaking bad.

I opened my eyes. A girl with jet black hair was bent over me. I could see other people, but everything was blurry. Black spots danced before my eyes.

'It. . . it hurts." I whispered weakly. Then I realized how stupid that statment was. Of course it hurt! I tried the move my arm, but almost blacked out because of the pain.

"What did this to you?" the girl asked.

"I. . . I don;t know. There was a flash of light. . . something was chasing me. . . it stung me. Over and over. That's all I remember," I said. I coughed and was horrifyed to see blood stain my lips red. Oh goodness, it hurt.

I was honestly worried about Samu. I worried just how hard he'd been hit over the head. But my attention was diverted by the girl covered in welts. She was evidently in a great deal of pain, and coughing up blood. I glanced around, my eyes resting on the unconcious maid. I hurried over, looking for any rags or handkerchiefs. She moaned as I searched, assuring me she certainly wasn't dead. Finally I found a few in her apron pocket. Then I moved over to the nightstand which held a pitcher of water. I grabbed it, and hurried back over.

"We should try to clean these wounds," I murmed, dipping a cloth into the cool water. I started dabbing at the welts, cleaning off any blood or dirt. She looked at us with big eyes.

"I'm Kiari," I said, trying to set her more at ease. "That's Zira, Alyss-Mae, and Samu," I said, nodding at each one in turn. "And I know what you're talking about," I added. "The ball of light. Something like that happened to me. Except instead of trying to sting me to death, it knocked me over a banister. So they're evidently more than just balls of light." The girl nodded as best she could. I passed her a cloth to mop up the blood on her mouth.

"There," I said, sitting back on my heels. "That's the best I can do for now." Carefully, we helped her sit up and lean against the wall. Just then, the maid started to stir. She sat up, rubbing her head. Her eyes finally landed on us. She stared at us in our various states of wounds and weapondry. Then she started to scream.

Samu-

The maid gulped more air, preparing for another scream yet Alyss-Mae knocked her out with a book. However it was too late. In minutes an army of footmen had burst through the doors and were pointing guns at us.

"MURDERER! WE FOUND THE MURDERER?" A fat older man, who appeared to be the leader, called. What would Cara do? I thought. What would Cara do?

"Bless you, good sirs!" I almost snorted with laughter. I sounded so stupid. "You have saved us from the murderer! These house-maids were almost killed!" I gesture towards the girl with the welts and the maid.

The fat man studied me quizically without lowering his weapon. "And who are you? How should I know that you aren't the murderer yourself?" He looked at Alyss-Mae, Zira and Kiari. "And what are they doing dressed in trousers?"

"I am a friend of Isabella's sister." If only I knew her name. "I've come to keep her company in this dark time." I gestured towards the girls. "The police think that the murderer is looking for young girls. So the maids are supposed to dress as men. Alas, this one was too proud to consider her safety." Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Alyss-Mae stifling a laugh.

The fat man whispered to another footman. Then he turned to us. "We are getting Miss Charlotte to see if you are telling the truth."

About ten minutes later, Miss Charlotte walked in, dressed in only a housecoat. "Is it true that this is your friend, Miss?" the footman asked.

"Yes," Charlotte answered without skipping a beat. She smiled at me. "It's a miracle that he didn't get hurt. Now, John, please call a doctor. This girls need someone to see to them. And tell Mary to get a good hearty soup ready." With that she dismissed them.

After the footmen had left, Charlotte sank into a chair. Her poise had completely left her and once again she looked tired and frail. "I think I deserve an explanation." So we told her our story.

Lara~

As I watched the other kids tell their story, I thought about everything that had happened since I came here.

The welts on my body were begining to fade and the pain was lessening fast. The other girl -Kiari- had said they had seen the ball of light too. I tried to puzzle out what it was, but came up with nothing.

The way these people looked confused me. Girls weren't supposed to wear pants. . .

And the old lady, Charlotttel, sat there, thinking about their story. I wanted to say something, but I didn't trust my voice. I decided to try anyway.

"Um. . . do any of you know why we're here, and . . . ," I coughed again, realziing the pain hadn't lessened as much as I had thought it would, "who we are?"
