"I fope ombies zon't oh re ear!" I reply while chewing on my sandwich.

"What?" Luci asks, already done with her sandwich. I gulp down mine.

"I hope zombies don't know we're here!" I say again.

"We better take turns guarding," Arista announces, brushing dirt of her pants. "I'll go first."

"And... Um... Danie, I don't advise you to guard. You have... Er..." Tamar trails off.

"I know," I blink at her.

"I'll go next when guarding. Then Zain, you can go. Then Bluebird, and finally you, Tamar," Addie says.

I notice I wasn't listed, but I frankly don't care. I know the deal. The real good fighters get in, cause of their mad skills, the smart, resourceful ones get in, but the youngest, smallest one, just a common thief, isn't trusted. I stretch out in a corner and fall asleep.

Addie ~

I'm grateful for at least some sense of security. I wasn't entirely sure what to think of these girls. Some acted just as untrusting as I felt. Some seemed totally at ease or indifferent to us being here. The youngest one, Luci, caught me attention. She didn't speak much, but gave the air of being one to hold her own. I was curious as to how she had come to be in with this ragtag bunch, and her backstory.

I drifted off into a something of a light sleep, somewhere between deep sleep and being awake. Between my ever raging thoughts and tidbits of sounds around me, dreams formed just behind my eyelids, so vivid and realistic feeling, I felt like fear was choking me. Zombies formed before me, rising out of the dirt. They were the same kind we'd seen today. Not your typical, funny ones, like in a video game, but truly horrific rotting humanoids. Their skin was greyish-green, hanging off their mold spotted bones. Their faces were deformed and the skin was stretched thinly across the frame of sunken skulls. Where their eyes shoudl have been was nothing but black pits. They spread out their hands, reaching for their victims like in the movies, except dried blood stained their fingers. I wanted to scream. In the dream they came close enough now that I could smell their breath, which heavily carried the scent of rotting meat.

This all was mixed into different scenes, all from memories. The main was the accident. Enough of me was awake and functioning to tell me none of this was real, but at the same I couldn't shake the fear. Zombies were real. And we were running for our lives.

I silently jerked awake. Glancing over, I saw Arista sitting guard. I rise and move over to her.

"My shift, you rest," I whisper to her. She nods without a word, moves over, and lies down. Within a few moments, she's asleep.

Sitting here in the darkness is more unnerving than I thought it would be. I prayed the rest of the night would pass without incident.

Zain~

I lie, my eyes wide open. I've been in more life-threatening situations, I think to myself. I shut my eyes for a moment, thoughts form in my head, turning into dreams.

Her screams echo in my ears, the blood-covered knife in my chest. I see an axe in her back; she's dead, I'm barely living, I stagger to the door-

I wake up, I had been sleeping for only half an hour! I stand up, I slowly walk to Addie.

"Psssssst, Add!"

"Zain? Is it your turn already?"

"No."

"Can't sleep?"

"Nope. Mind if I keep you company?"

Sorry it's so short. I need to go!

(I'm changing tenses.)

~Luci~

I wake up from a dream about Mom. She'd be in a long, dark tunnel with torchs every two or three feet. I ran towards her, and she opened her arms wide, but whenever I almost reached her she'd disappear, reappearing five or six torchs down. Finally I caught her before she disappeared, but something strange was happening to her. Her hair swished around her face and when it pulled back her eyes were empty, a wide black void. Her skin turned a sickly green, her arms around me cold, lifeless but for the blood pumping through them. Her amrs tightened around me, her mouth opening, revealing blackened teeth. She drooled, pulling me closer . . .

I'm drenched in sweat and I feel like I can never sleep again. My heart pounds a mile a minute and I breathe fast and shallow as I sit up.

Danie is still fast asleep, but I can see Addie and Zain sitting just outside, talking softly. I consider joining them, but they're good friends and it'd be a bit intrusive to do so, so I lie back down, trying to calm down.

My dreams are full of shuffling, groaning, something growling-

Wait. Zombies don't growl.

I wake up. For some reason the scrappy door of our shelter is creaking open. The others are all asleep. They must not have had the strength to stay awake.

I sit up and grab my gun. The moon is shining through the holes in the shelter. I creep out, and wind whips my face.

Suddenly a wolf the size of a horse barrels into me, and everything goes black.

I wake up panting. Everyone has fallen asleep, and the guards are leaning on each other, snoring.

And the door creaks open.

I walk to it, almost in a trance. My feet carry me, even though my mind screams NO!

My gun slips from my hands and clatters to the ground.

I walk outside. The warehouse creaks and groans.

And I hear a growl.

(If you guys think wild animals would make this RP to complicated, you don't have to use this.)

I wake up. It's still night. I rub my eyes, looking around.

The world is shivering again. (This means she's having another hallucination.) It's so wonderful and colorful! Look, a rainbow!

I see Arista get up, and walk outside. I should join her! She seems to like rainbows too.

A snuggly teddy bear walks toward Arista. No! I want to hug it instead! I push Arista away and jump onto the bear. Ouch! Something scratched me.

No! This teddy is evil! I rip out its stuffing (Er... Um... Danie. Those are guts.) and kill it.

The world shivers out again. Aw... It's so dark now. Why are my hands too gloopy? I look at them and shrugg. Guts. 'Nother hallucination. Arista looks at me like I had just saved her life... Maybe I did?

Addie ~

The following day dawned grey with storm clouds blocking out the sun. Rain came down lightly but steadily. I woke up from a half sleep. Zain and I had fallen into a state in between wake and sleep, our senses still alert but enough to rest ourselves somewhat. Apparently some sort of commotion happened for Danie and Arista, though neither one talked about it.

No one said much of anything as we cleared up our few belongings.

"So... what are we going to do?" Arista asked, glancing at everyone. "Is everyone sticking together, or..."

Zain and I glanced at each other, then shrugged.

"We might as well stick with you guys. We don't have anywhere really to go, no one waiting for us," Zain said.

I glanced at Bluebird.

"Sure," was all she said, when she noticed me looking at her.

"Alright then I guess we're a team," I said, cracking a small smile.

"Well what should do we then?" Arista asked.

"Check out the city," Luci said simply. "See how everyone else has fared. See what left."

"Sounds reasonable," I commented.

"Sounds like a plan then," Dannie said with a grin.

So this is just to form some establishment, and give some direction. Do whatever.

Tamar~

Everyone packs up. I sling my backpack over my shoulder. It looks like everyone else packed way lighter than I did -- the most they have is a messenger bag, and that's Addie. Luci's got almost nothing except her dagger and the phone in her pocket.

"I don't really know Torren, so you guys go ahead." I step aside as Danie mounts her bike and rides ahead, leading us out. Addie jogs up to her and pulls ahead, Zain beside her as always. I guess those two are a unit. Bluebird walks in the middle, sliding her fingers up and down her arrow shaft. She still seems nervous. I fall into line beside Luci.

"I'm still freaked about this whole 'zombies' thing," I admit. "You seem... so in charge."

Luci looks like I just called her a unicorn. "In charge? I'm nine. You're... what, 3, 4 years older?"

"I'm 13," I tell her. "But I don't know, I'm still looking to you as the leader. Even with the new girls."

Luci blinks her pale blue eyes. "I'm definitely not the leader type. I'd rather be sitting by my fire thinking than telling other people what to do." She turns away. I guess she really is a little antisocial.

Addie leads us down a side street. There are huge, tall office buildings on either side, but the glass of the windows is broken and big enough for one of us to climb through.

"C'mon," she beckons. It's dark inside, so I dig out a flashlight from my bag and toss it to her. She catches it easily, uses its handle to knock away some of the last shards still hanging from the frame, and leads us into the old building.

Zain~
I walk beside Addie. "Add," I whisper.
"Hmm?"
"I-I-I dreamt about her, again."
"Sorry Zain, if I didn't know you, like I do, I'd ask you if you wanted to talk about it."
"Addison," I say to her solemnly, we both stop dead in our tracks, "I dreamt about her death."
Addie embraces me, though I'm not a hugger (or toucher), I squeezed her. It felt good. I started crying, for no reason. I haven't cried since she died. I let it out, and about five minutes later, "I-I've g-got to get a hold of myself, I don't know what came over me, thanks for being there, Add."
"You're welcome. Forever?"
We shake hands, clap, spin, wink, high five, clap, shake.
"Forever, " we say in unison.
"I can't believe you remember our secret handshake, after all these years!" she says.
"You remember."
"That I do."
"Let's catch up to the others," I say simply, as if nothing had happened.
"Sure."
About an hour into the walk...(with only two zombie attacks, so far)
"Oh," says Addie,
"My," I continue,
"Gosh!" we say in unison.
"Zain, we used to live in that apartment building!"
"I know! I wonder who lives there now? I thought they tore it down!"
"We might as well start the search in there then," Danie says.
There were nods and murmurs of "sure"  and of "whatever".
"Well off we go then-" Luci didn't get to finish her sentence before Danie looked hungrily at a hover-car, and started trying to eat it.
"Come on, Dragons,  LET THE FEAST BEGIN!"

Just an idea... *wink*.

Tamar~

Danie charges over to a nearby hovercar and attacks it.

"Danie? DANIE!" I run over and grab her by the shoulders. She looks woozy, like she did when she was 'seeing the unicorns'.

I cock my head at my backpack, tossed on the ground. Luci gets what I mean, and she digs into the pocket and takes out the green-and-white pill. I grind it between my fingers and drop the dust into Danie's mouth.

"This is getting serious," I comment.

~Luci~

"Yeah," I agree. I shake Danie, hard. I hear someone (her, I think) growling. "Bad teddy bear!" she says, turning and staring at me. I take a step back slowly, and then bump into a telephone pole. She keeps on stalking towards me. I don't want to hurt her, so I tackled her, aiming for her knees. She collapses, her eyes closing.

I wave my hand in front of her face as Bluebird, Addie, Zain, Arista, and Tamar gather around. "Do you think I hurt her?" I ask Tamar. She shakes her head. "It doesn't look like that. I think she just knocked her head on something."

"When she wakes up, will she still be hallucinating that I'm a teddy bear?" I worry.

"I don't know," Tamar sighs.

Hellooo everybuggy. Hey, here's a word/combat tech idea for ya'll's story (if you don't like it, that's fine);

Combat ATV: A heavily armored four-wheeler usually used by the military. it looks like an ordinary ATV except it's got heavily armored sides, two laser blasters in the front, and has a quiet engine to avoid anyone (including zombies) from hearing it. It is usually red in color.
