Chatterbox: Inkwell

AVATAR RP!

Here's my
character sheet. I'll add little bits of the story while you guys submit more
characters.

Name: Alex
Flamerider

Fighting style:
Firebending

Weapon of choice:
fire, lightning

Age: 14

Personality:
Funny, wild.

Background: (this
is optional) He was born in a big family in the Fire Nation. He lived happily
with his parents and brother and sister until a mercenary water bender
kidnapped him and took him to the Northern Water Tribes' chief, Usan Karrio.
Eventually he escaped back to the fire nation and became a part of
the fire-bending fire fighters. (a fictional group of fire-fighters I made up)
Then went on to become a part of Avatar Luke's Team Avatar along with
young Airbender girl Yo, Earthbender Chang, and waterbender Lily.
This takes place twelve years after the Legend of Korra. Sorry about the bad
character description but I was trying to keep it short!

Rain. Rain is the enemy. I have decided, after long deliberation, that rain is, indeed, the worst thing on earth. Falling, falling, always falling- pattering enlessly in a pattern that must be the morse cod for 'death by monotany'.

Maybe it's different if you are a water bender, maybe the wet makes you feel relaxed, energized. But for me all the awful things in this world bundled together into one big ball of uncomfterbleness could not equal this horrible, monotonous, drip.

Drip.

Drip.

Drip.

The rain soaks into my flesh and bones, it's cold numbness seeping into me, and making me feel heavy and dragged down by it's added weight to my clothes.

Drip.

Drip.

Drip.

There is nothing worse for an Airbender than to feel heavy.

"Singnnin' in the raaain just sinnngin' in the raaain, oh what a glorious feeeeeling, I'm haaaappy again!" Comes my companion's crude crooning. Alright. Perhaps rain isn't the worst thing in the world. It's a close call between it and Gloria, but I think Gloria takes the cake.

(Note; not part of the story; should I make a character sheet for her? I don't plan her to be in the story long, and I'm not going to do a first-person naration with her- is it worth it? Okay- back to the story!)

The first city, I think to myself. The first city I come to, I'm ditching her. But the relief that ought to fill me with these bitter thoughts is quite absent. That is, of course, because I know that The next city is many miles away. We had horses, a while back, and horses now would be no small comfort, and I would pay dearly to have them. But no, it just had to be that Gloria, dearest gloria, looked through my saddle-bags. It just had to come to pass that her gaze rested upon my glass orbs- one of my only weapons. And of course her fumbling, clumsy hands picked them up with curiosity- and promply dropped them.  The gunshot-like sound that then occurred was enough to startle away our horses -and with them our food, clothes, supplies, and every belonging of mine barring my messenger bag, and those bothersome orbs, and send Glorai into a panic. It took my a full fifteen minutes to coax her from uner that rock- another peice of rotten luck; it was the only rock around for miles!

This incedent left us peniless as well, and without food, except for a sandwich she had been carring. The fool gave it to me!

That spoiled my appitite completely. I left that morsel out on a rock for the coyotes, not being able to stomach that aweful bit of kindness myself.

Drip.

Drip.

Drip

"I'm siiiingin' in the raaaaain-"

"Is that the only bit of the song you know? I've been listening to that dreadful line for the last three hours!" I snap.

"Your just jealous of anyone who can do something you can't." She replies in a voice so self righteous I want to scream. I imagine the vein pulsing on my neck.

That's it. I'm going to ditch her now, I can't take it anymore! Even I have limits!

"Gloria-" I begin, but I am inturrepted by my partner being frozen into a giant, annoying ice cube.

Okay, I have no idea where I am going with that. I don't know why Gloria is frozen, I don't know who did it. Ideas, anyone?

It could be the Moonstalker!  That might be a good way to introduce the two. OR it could be the same mercernary that kidnaped Alex!

~Alex~

Well, here he was. After all his searching and effort. He had ended up right back where he started. Alex looked around the train station. Yep, same place. Why didn't the owner fix this place up? It still had the same crumbling walls, rusty iron benches. but it was home sweet home none the less. The reason Alex was at the train station was simple. A long time ago, before he had been kidnapped, his father had told him wonderful stories about the previous avatar, Korra. Alex wasn't sure how his father knew so much about her, but, he did. She had awesome adventures, and she was Alex's hero. He remembered, one night, after his father had told him a story about how she and her friends had defeated an evil terrorist group, (the Red Lotus, or, something like that) he told Alex about a strange prophesy Korra had made before her demise. He couldn't remember the whole thing, it was so long ago, but it went something like; When darkness is at it's mightiest hour, a group of friends will fight it's epic power... His father then told him that if at any time the next avatar was discovered, he wanted Alex to be one of the 'friends of the avatar' the prophesy told about. That was before the kidnapping. Anyway, long story short; Alex escapes, comes back home, (where he is now) finds out that his parents had been assassinated, and none of his family had been seen in years, he joined a fire fighting squad of fire benders, (who use their abilities to rescue people) eventually, he finds out that the next avatar had been found in the Earth Kingdom, but Alex hadn't been able to find out any more information like his name, or anything else. So he had retired from being a fire fighter and had traveled to the Earth Kingdom in search. After a while of searching to no avail, he came back home where he is now. ~pant, pant~ Okay, so that is why he's at the train station, he's just arrived back home. Anyway, back to the story;

Just then, a man walked up next to Alex. He had a thick, brown beard and mustache, cammo pants, and a grey tee shirt. He was probably six foot something and looked about in his forties. He looked over at Alex. "Howdy, I apologize, but, you look like someone I knew a long time ago, what's your name?"

Alex stood there a second in puzzlement.
"Alex...yours?" The man smiled.

"You can just call me by my
nickname Rocky, all my friends do."

Alex grinned. "Nice to meet you."

"Same here. Forgive me for asking, but
what's your last name...I just know I've seen you somewhere."

"Well, I go by my mother's last name,
Flamerider, but I only remember my dad's first name. It was
Mako."

The man gasped, then broke into a wide grin.
"Yeah, I think your dad and I crossed paths a few times. You're a fire
bender, I assume?" Alex nodded.

  "How did you know?"

"Oh, well, you see..." Rocky fumbled.
"Well, I'm a bender too. Anyway, er, do you have a place to stay?
This is a pretty big city."

"Oh, I'm sure I'll find someplace to stay."

"Good. We'll if you need a roof over your head
and something to eat, just look me up." Just then, they heard a honking
sound outside the building barely audible over the chatter of the people in the
station. "Oh, dear. That's my taxi. We'll, look me up sometime. Won't
you?" Said Rocky, smiling.

"Sure, thanks." Said Alex as the man turned
to leave.

"Oh, and if ever you need to get in touch with
me, my real home's in Ba Sin Sae. You can ask anyone in that area. They'll know
where I live. Just tell them that you're looking for Bolin. That's my real name.
Anyway, good bye!"

"Bye! Thank you!" Said Alex as Rocky walked
towards his cab. After he'd left, a strange sensation came over him. Bolin.
He'd heard that name somewhere. He shrugged. Maybe the two would meet again one
day.

Alfonso~

"Clutch, get me my glider!" I yelled at my robotic helper.

"But sir, it is raining outside. Are you sure?" Clutch questioned.

"Why do you think I have my gun set to airbending?" I pointed out.

"Sir, all your guns are in repair after you face those firebenders. They called themselves "The Embers", remember?"

"Darnit! How will we get to the Festival now? I've been waiting for this for years!" I asked.

Clutch processed for a moment, and then replied:"We could find an airbender."

I knew that was impossible, but after the Embers incident, I was probably going to do anything to get to the Festival of Flowers. We were going to find an airbender, and I knew just where to look.

~Asyra~

My first emotion upon seeing my partner zapped suddenly into a cube of ice is, of course, joy. Then confusion, followed by the thought:

Am I telepathic? And a waterbender? Am I a telepathic waterbender?

I glance around, to find myself face-to-face with a boy about my own age.

"I need your help," he says.

The nerve! The absolute temerity! He freezes my companion, and then he wants my help! I spend several minutes calculating what to say next, what witty, stinging, intelligent retort I could fling at him, to make him stop in his tracks, kneel, and profess his profound stupidity. And what I come up with is this.

"Why?"

"You're an airbender."

I glance down at my clothes, half expecting the airbender's robes to be my attire, but no, I'm in regular peasants' clothes. How could he know?

I suddenly break into tears. False tears, you understand, I'm acting- but it's enough to make the boy look uncomfortable.

"My sister- my poor, poor, sister -she -she was so young . . .I was just traveling with her, and . . .And then you- froze- she . . . ." I dissolve gently into quiet sobbing.

"What're you talking about? I didn't-" He glances at Gloria. "Oh," he says."That wasn't me."

I cease my mourning sharply. "How on earth do you expect me to believe that?" I ask petulantly. "Who froze her? The ants?"

We both  stare at each other.

Then at Gloria.

Then back at each other.

"Are you the Avatar?" he asks.

"What?"

"Air and ice. It's the only explanation."

"I did."

"I know! Wait, what?"

It was a girl who spoke, and unless it was Gloria, it means there's a newcomer.

Possibly a dangerous one.

I could tell the airbender knew I was a girl. The other didn't.

I stepped forth out of the mist, my hood concealing my face. The airbender tries to block me, but I use the technique of freezing rain into the gust and it clatters to the ground.

"I also need you," I say quietly, "you may know me. I," I pull down my hood and reveal my porcelain face, marred by the crescent-moon shaped scar, "am the Moonstalker."

~Asyra~

I stand dumbfounded for a moment, looking first at the Moonstalker, then at the boy, then at Gloria and back around again.

"Well aren't I in high demand. What, airbenders scarce around here?"

"Very," they say, both at once, Gloria being strangely silent.

"Well, this has sure done a whole bunch for my self-esteem, but seeing as you-" I point at the Moonstalker "froze my sister solid, and you-" I point at the boy "seem to have really bad timing, I think I'm going to decline your offers. Sorry."

I turn to go.

"I am the Moonstalker! You should be honored!" the girl hisses.

"I know who you are."

"Then you should bow at my feet."

"You should bow at mine."

"And why is that?" she asks, with obvious contempt.

"Because I," I think quickly, "am Zephyr! The legendary master of the wind of the west!"

"Never heard of you."

"Well that's because you are obviously--"

"AHEM!" This from the boy. "I'm still here, and I need-"

"Shut up!" The girl and I say at once.

I turn, yet again, to leave. "Listen, as much as I'll miss you guys, I gotta go. But believe me, I'll always treasure the moments we've shared." I begin trudging away, in the general direction of where me and Gloria had been heading.

By the way, Gloria wasn't actually Asyra's sister, she's lying. She does that a lot.
