Psionic RP!

Create a character with a cool power. Or two. Or three. Or however many you want.

Setting: Magic forest full of spirits like in Miyazaki films.

here's mine:

River Wolfpaw

Age: Biologically immortal (i.e., won't die of old age but can be killed by disease of physical trauma). 712 and counting. Appears 16.

Appearance-- always wears a dress of deer hide and a crystal dagger on a string around her neck. Has black paint markings over eyes that extend tendrils down onto her cheeks, with long black hair, pale skin, and green eyes that look as if they were cut from emeralds.

Personality-- Easily angered, and occasionally hurts feelings by being so truthful it hurts or just being a jerk without meaning to. Lives in a cave with Huntingstar, her silver wolf, who she is fiercely protective of- even though Huntingstar can take care of herself very well. Actually can be very nice, and is pretty smart. She speaks Japanese, and sometimes forgets herself and speaks in it, much go the confusion of some of her friends. (Huntingstar understands English and Japanese.)

Powers: She can talk to animals, some better than others.  Also, she's wicked with her spear and her crystal dagger, and has powers of telepathy and electrokinesis. She has wolf speed and stamina, and wolf senses of smell and hearing. Rides Huntingstar. She knows exactly what plants are edible and which are poisonous, and exploits that knowledge. Really good cook.

Inspired by San from Hayao Miyazaki's anime film Princess Mononoke.

Okay, joining.

Lysa Glass

Age: Looks 8, is 80

Appearnce: Well, to normal people, she's invisible. But to those with powers, she looks like she's made out of glass, with clear, pretty hair tied up with a bow, innocent eyes, and a serene smile.

Personality: She's sweet and elusive, and uses her invisibility to help rather than hurt, like helping lost travellers find their way and hurt friendships to make up. Her whispering has often been mistaken for the wind.

Powers: Like I said, she' sin visible to all but those with powers.

~River Wolfpaw~

I mount Huntingstar. I smell moose and so does she. We ride out of our cave, our breath steam in the frigid air.

Huntingstar throws her head back and howls, a call picked up by other wolves. The wolf pack unites, and our hunting partners, ravens, perch on the branches. Then we take off.

Riding a wolf is an experience unlike any on Earth. You can feel the soft, thick, warm fur, but underneath is solid muscle, working as she chases the moose with the rest of the pack, adopting the rocking-horse pattern all quadrupeds assume when running. The moose cannot compete with wolf stamina. He is taken down fast and that is lunch.

Yes. I eat raw moose.

The kill frenzies the wolf pack, and the feral instinct is awoken again as they tear into the carcass, staining their muzzles red with blood. I am exhilirated, as I feel always after a hunt. After a kill.

Lysa

I sit on the top of the tree, watching. The girl, the one called River, is on the back of her wolf, chasing after a moose. Unseen to the wolves, it puts on a burst of speed. I do feel sorry for the creature, but if it escapes, the wolves might go hungry.

I imitate a birdcall, loud enough for the moose to hear. It hesitates, confused at the seemingly invisible "bird." The hesitation is enough, and the wolves pounce. I turn away. I cannot watch.

I leap from branch to branch, agile and silent. I look down from my tree and see a little girl, picking windflowers. Then I turn and see, far off her mother, frantically calling for her missing little girl. I leap from my tree and run over to the little girl, then whisper in her ear,

"Your mommy needs you. Follow me." Then I tug on the girl's skirt. She giggles and lets me lead h through the woods to her awaiting mother, who nearly cries with relief.

"Sweetheart, I was so worried! You musn't do that," she tells her, but her heart is not in the scolding.

"A fairy lead me here, Mommy!" the little girl says eagerly, unaware of doing any wrong.

"Of course it did," she replies, a slightly confused look on her face. I can practicly read her thoughts; Well, of course it wasn't a fairy. But if it wasn't, what was it? I smile as I return to the trees. Another job well done.

~River~

As I snap a bone and get at the marrow inside, I contemplate the kill. I could have sworn I saw a girl of glass leaping through the trees. Then I sense movement, and see the glass girl again.

"Go, Hunt," I say, mounting her. Huntingstar follows the girl as I get low to be more aerodynamic. We catch up to her in a clearing, and I get a good look at her. She has clear hair tied up in a bow and a serene smile. She looks 8, but clear as glass? I doubt she really is.

"What's your name?" I ask.

"Lysa. I've been watching you these past few days."

Stalker, I think. It's actually a little funny.

"You must have been the strange smell I've been detecting," I say. It's a nice smell, lavender and honey.

She looks at me sideways, and then says, "Oh, right. You have wolf senses," she says.

"Something tells me you're older than you look," I say.

"Something tells me you are," she retorts. She's clever. She wants me to tell her first. Fine. "I'm 712," I tell her. "Wow!" she says. "I'm only 80."

I smile. "You want to meet my little cousin?" I ask. Lori said she'd drop by.

"Sure," says Lysa, and we both go to my cave. It's a simple home-- a fire pit, a few moss mats, and some rabbit-fur blankets. On a ledge there is my face paint, and the herb that, when ground, makes a goo that can remove it. On another, there is a bowl of berries and some jerky and pemmican, plus a bowl of water. I weave the bowls myself. In a corner, my knife and spear. In another corner, my drum. It's a simple one-- a thick wood cylinder with hide stretched over it. The moss mats on which we sleep are lying around, with a couple extras rolled up and placed near the drum. I light us a fire, give Lysa a tour. Not much to do now but wait for Lori.

~Lori~

I promised River I'd drop by. "Come on, Sweet Eyes!" I call. My faithful doe runs up. I get on, my leaf dress rustling. Sweety runs, almost silently, in the direction of River's cave. We are there fast. River has 5 moss mats rolled out. "Why five? " I ask. Then I notice someone sitting by the fire-- a girl, made of glass!

"Lori, this is Lysa. Lysa, Lori," says River. "Hello!" says Lysa. "Hi," I say. "This is Sweet Eyes." I get off of her.

Plz continue!

Raven~

I sit in my cave, warming my hands against the warm flames of a fire. I lean back, staring into the woods. I hear a wolf call. It's close.

Instinct causes me to clench my hands. Wolves. The ones that attacked me so many times when I was small.

I can attack them. I can get my revenge.

A small voice in my head says it's too dangerous. I ignore it. I pick up my spear and my knives and run out.

I see the pack; it's eating a moose. Then I see something else.

There is a girl eating with the wolves.

Eating raw moose.

Two revenges, says my brain. Humans, wolves. Punish them for what they did to you.

Don't, says another part of my brain. It's too dangerous. Plus, why would you kill innocent beings? These are not the ones who attacked or abandoned you.

I ignore that part and charge.

I had been so focused on everything going on-- the hunt, Lysa-- that I haven't noticed much else. But now I smell something. Human, I think. But... foresty. Like the human has lived in the forest for a looong time. I stand up, turn around.

I see a girl, looking about as old as I do. She whips out a spear. I whip out mine. She charges, I evade. I stab, she slips away. She sends a burst of fire at me. I dodge it. I send a line of lightning at her. She dodges that. We prove to be one another's equals, neither of us ever gaining the upper hand. She never hits me. I never hit her. Huntingstar charges, distracting her. She whips her spear and opens a gash on Huntingstar's muzzle. Huntingstar whimpers and backs away.

Now I'm really mad. I press her out of the cave. It's raining, now. In fact, it's thunderstorming. Lighting flashes, setting fire to a tree. She manipulates the flame into a fiery dragon and sends it at me.

Lightning strikes... me. It would kill just about anyone. But I am electrokinectic. If empowers me. I harness the power from the sky and point it at her. It converges into a high-voltage cell for the girl. "Who are you?" I ask. Electricity sparks from my eyes, in contrast with my black paint. I know I look terrifying.

"What? Will you kill me now too?" she spits. "Give me a new reason to hate you all?"

Reason to hate. The words ring in my ears. I let the lighting dissipate.

"Reason," I say. "What are your current ones?"

Three centuries ago. A girl, riding a wolf, with a wolf goddess at their side. She had taken the girl in she was the mother of the pup.

no...

The wolf goddess lay dead. Pierced by one of the humans' iron balls. The mother of girl. The mother of pup. Dead. Gone from this world. The tears ran down the girl's face. She was devastated.

I had hated humans for a century after that, for killing the closest thing to a mother I ever knew.

"What was that all about?" snaps the girl.

"Like you would understand!" I yell. "You humans killed my mother!"

"Says the human girl."

"I'm pleased to say that I am NOT a human, but a spirit!" I scream. "And you almost killed Huntingstar!"

"The wolves almost killed me!" She yells back. "My idiot parents abandoned me and those horrible wolves attacked me!" she cries, pointing to the scar on her cheek.

"Well, Huntingstar was not the wolf that gave you that scar... and you would be mad at me, too, if I had almost killed the closest thing you ever knew to a sister!"

We stand there in silence, the rain pouring down.

I can't seem to find a good time to put my character in!

~Ceceilia~

This was a bad idea. I mean, I've done worse, but I don't think I'll get out of this. Currently I am alone, cold, wet, and lost in some weird forest, watching two . . . girls fight. Oh, and did I mention  that I am now barely a foot tall?

I was exploring the well-known part of the forest. The part where people come to hike and families have picnics. Here there was no real path, but everyone's feet cleared the plants away. I strayed from this path, and entered the real forest. How was I to know that in this forest, things are totally different?

I was walking, and not too long after I entered I realized that I was lost. All the trees looked the same to me. I heard a wolf's cry. It was not a good thing to be lost in the forest with wolves. I got out my compass. I held it steady, waiting for the needle to move. It didn't. It must have rusted. "Great! Just great." Then it started to rain. I took out my little umbrella, and I pressed on.

I heard noise. Voices. A whimper. I saw two girls engaged in some sort of battle. I thought it was a reenactment or roleplaying or something. They were attacking each other but they weren't touching. There clothes looked strange. Definitely wouldn't see anyone wearing these clothes on the street.

My opinion changed when one girl, literally, threw fire at the other. This wasn't fake. The other girl was struck by lightning. But she wasn't hurt. In fact the opposite, she was bursting to the rims with power. I didn't see the rest of the fight, for this scared me. I've never felt fear like this before. A tingling sensation swept over me. Like my entire body fell asleep. I closed my eyes and before I knew it I was tiny.

So here I am. Freaking out behind a bush. My clothes shrunk as well, but my backpack stayed the same. I peek at the girls. They're talking tensely. Wow. What will I tell mom when I get back? If I get back? What if those girls see me? They look dangerous. I feel... all tingly again. Oh no. Oh no.

Now I'm huge and they see me.

River~

Suddenly, I hear rustling leaves and smell human. I doing around, clutching my spear. "Your people?" I ask the girl. She shakes her head. "I'm River, by the way," I say. "Raven," she replies curtly. Then I see a girl with two braids burst out of the underbrush. She's rapidly growing and is now 20 feet tall, which freaks me out, but I hold my ground and create a ball of electricity in my hand while brandishing my spear. I try to look as ferocious as I can. I glance at Raven and see her doing the same, though I sense worry on her thoughts.

Oh, you have no idea what I'm talking about. I can sense people's emotions-- not read their minds exactly, but sense, almost see, their emotions. Before Raven emanated an aura of bitter hate. Now, she projects fear.

The giant girl looks terrified herself. "I'm Cecelia! I was exploring the well-known area of the forest when I got lost and found this ability to grow and shrink! Please don't hurt me!" she cries.

"River Wolfpaw does not speak to people four times her size," I say. She shrinks to normal size. That's better. "Are you a human?"
