"Hello?"
What?
You don't very well go about introducing yourself in the middle of a war-torn city; you'll be dead before the words are even out of your mouth. What are you thinking, whoever you are?
The words are spoken, rather uncertainly, by a girl. Pale, her brilliant blue eyes are alert, like a bird's. She's short--shorter even then l am. She, rather alarmingly, grips a sword like she is going to silt my throat without blinking an eye. l would do the same, probably.
It had been years since l had actually handled any manner of sword. l don't actually know how to use one, but l held the blood-stained saber as if l was a master swordsman.
What did she want? This isn't exactly a place you'd want to hang around. l hopefully was able enough to defend myself, if it came to that, if l were lucky enough.
But--game changer, a dragon. Smaller then Celeste, but not exactly looking welcoming. The girl's, l was betting, by the way it gravitated towards the girl.
l was minding my own business, thank you very much. l don't want a fight with the locales, especially if there's another dragon involved.
Celeste looks rather uncertain, unable to determine exactly if these newcomers are friends or foes.
She regards the other dragon carefully, tilting her head, staring with bright eyes. The grey-blue dragon growls, softly, in the back of his throat. The feathers on her neck begin to stand up and she half raises her wings threateningly.
l can't fight, and l have better things to do besides this.
"Celeste." Quit it, dragon. l don't want to pick a fight.
She doesn't back down.
"Celeste!" Only when l raise my voice does she pay attention to me. Confound it, dragon.
With a reposeful glare, she slinks back.
l know that l better be moving on, but still, l'm curious. Everyone who didn't want to be part of the conflict was long gone; they knew full well if they stayed, this was their grave. If you didn't fight, you died. There were no civilians, no middle ground. Yet she didn't appear to be on one side or the other, you didn't exactly wander around the city just like that.
"Why are you here?"
The girl look briefly confused by my question.
"You're quite obviously not on one side or the other; this city means death to all who enter and l'm betting you're not looking for an early grave. So why would anyone in their right mind be here?"

As Imperial flew, a flaw in the situation developed.

I flew over the grey towers, and in one of the alleys was two riders: nearly fighting. I cued Imperial  to circle around. He followed, and the riders looked up.

And one decided to follow me. With a few powerful flaps she was level with me, in re middle of my circle.

"Who are you?" she called

"Tennessee, now your name?" I replied

"Aya. What brings you flying over the city? You look pretty official." She studied my all black attire, including my Empire Officer badge.

"I'm ki-Prince Delax's personal assistant."

"You're from the palace." Her eyes became narrow, and she spit "palace" like poison. Without warning, her dragon rammed Imperial -- I shook, and gripped with my legs. I guess the two wanted a fight.

I drew my dagger, and Imperial pushed away from the lithe dragon. We flew upwards, then dove at the other pair. I slashed my knife across the rider's face, and the knife so thin, the cut did not bleed until moments later. The other dragon and rider had flown up to join us now. Both were feathered dragons, with skilled riders.

 Let's see how high they can fly.

We flapped upwards, above the clouds. The air was thin, but for Imperial, he could fly better.

"Come on you cowards! I have a job to be doing! Show me your worth my time!"

Ignore the typo saying luft is a featherd.

Ummm, Maple? I'm sorry, I don't think that's how Aya would react at all. She doesn't pick fights, and she doesn't have anything against the palace. She would probably ignore Chex and Tennessee, since she was right about ready to fight with Adarr.

Aya~

"Long story," I say in response to the rider's question. Why am I here, if I don't have a side? Oh, but the answer is simple. It's not long at all; simply personal, a bit too personal for my liking. "And you?"

If he pries in my life, I pry in his.

Luft nudges me, and I look up. Another dragon? I hate this. Dragon riders, during a war, are valuable; I'm just lucky this one hasn't killed me already, or forced me to join his side. Luft, again, is not a fighter; I'm good with weapons, but against a dragon, they're useless.

Shall we?

Right now, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I can stay here and continue this slowly rising agressive conversation, or I can go one-on-one in the air. I'm not particularly eloquent; short and sweet, that's how I like it, and most of my feeble attempts at talk die off quickly. But I'm a good force in the air. If I can get up there with Luft, we can most surely get higher than this other rider. If I can pick them off, their dragon will have no choice but to save them.

But I just asked this person a question.

I decide to wait. I'll see what this man responds, and if he puts an end to this passive-agressive conversation, then I'll go up and check out this other rider. If he continues it, I'll put up with it, until one of us attacks the other.

But something tells me that rider in the sky won't wait very long...

I was thinking pure curiosity and your personality description (Like her dragon, Aya's a bit of a thrill-seeker. A bit rash but calm,) would

get the best of her. Then Amar, thinking she ran away, would join the fight. If that makes any sense.

I would agree she would go up, just not in the middle of a conversation. Also, she wouldn't be picking a fight; she's more of the "Attack me and I'll attack you" type.

Forgive me, then. Let's suppose she went up after the conversation, and after she sneered at the palace ( for they aren't making any effort to help the City of Blood) Tennessee becomes offended and attacks, and the other rider, seeing that Aya is in trouble, flys up to help. Do you agree, you don't have to.

That sounds fine, as long as SD's okay with it.

Adarr~

War.  That's why l'm here, just like everyone else. This stupid war. Because l owe something to this city and now l'm here to repay it. With my life, probably.

The metal dragon above us beat its metallic wings noisily. The sun catches on the, sending blinding ray reflecting off every surface.

l recognize the uniform that the rider is wearing. In service of Delax, then? The one who calls himself a prince?

l can feel the anger rising, like flames running through my veins, pounding thrush me.

Delax. The one name that l had hoped to never hear again.

Anger is like fire. It blinds you with its brightness, it's all consuming. There is one thought on my mind, blindingly overwhelming. l know that l'm better then this. l don't care.

The other rider has gotten into the air, pretty quickly. The two of them seem to be carefully regarding each other.

The smaller grey-blue dragon sudden charges the larger mechanical dragon, ramming his claws into the metal plating. The metal dragon jerks back for a few seconds, before half folding its wings and diving down at the grey-blue dragon, who dodges to the side.

The mechanical dragon abruptly shoots up, appearing to have changed its mind, going higher and higher, wings beating the air. The other dragon follows, though slower.

It takes me a few seconds to realize what it's doing, as l watch them from the ground.

Idiot, don't you realize what she's going to do?  She's going to lead you up high enough so that your dragon can't breathe anymore and then the mechanical dragon will tear your helpless dragon apart, you'll fall out of the sky and break your neck. What a nice way to die. And you're just following her like a blind sheep. Why do you not know better?

Death. Just like that, and you'll never know better. It almost makes me sad.

You could save her, you know. Let there be one less death in this bloody city.

l halt for a moment, then turn.

"Celeste!"

The dragon's feathers are stiff and tightly knit together, and as l swing myself onto her back, she raises her wings and tests the air with them.

The tips of Celeste's wings scrape the collapsing buildings, her wings beginning to create a whirl of dust as she lunches herself into the air.

l can see them, far above us, twisting, rolling, dodging each other in flight. It beings to get colder, fast. My hands grow so numb that l can't feel anything. And yet they are still flying higher and higher.

You're going to kill yourselves. Stop while you can.

But they don't, and l begin to feel real fear, as Celeste lags behind, unable to catch up.

Fear, that haunting, horrible feeling, the feeling that we are going to be too late.

That they are going to die.

The other rider was flying towards us, slowly. Me and the other when're tussling, and her dragon war loosing oxygen. I could see it in its movements,the slow paced defense.

The other rider was here, and they circled around me fastly. This rider yelled something to the previous one, and the feathered dragon dove through the clouds to the City of Blood below. This rider close his circles, and slammed into Imperial's side. I grabbed my knife from my belt and threw it at the other rider, and it stuck in his collarbone. He screamed and threw the knife down through the clouds. I sighed, I was hoping I wouldn't have to strangle the princess.

The Princess!!!

"Got to go, sorry." I yelled.

"Afraid?" The other rider yelled

"Not one bit. I have a job today. Delax guide you!"

"DOWN WITH DELAX!" He screamed

I flipped around, and Imperial growled. "Oh, your rude." I growled, charging. I flew over him, but Imperials sharp tail knocked him off the dragon. He yelled as he fell, and his dragon raced to catch him I laughed, and me and Imperial turned towards the Oveer palace.

~~~ later~~~
"It is done?" Delax said, entering my room. I sat in my windowsill, studying imperial. He lad in my room, wings neatly folded. His chess plate cover was dented, and I had to hammer it back to place.
"Duh."
"Nobody caught you?"
"Nope." I attached  the metal cover to Inperial.
"Come on a ride with me." I said, flying out the window. He followed, and we went above the clouds.
"Look who it is..." The rider and te fast flying dragon descended from above. Delax drew his sword.
"YOU!" He yelled as he gazed at Delax. "Your not doing anything to help us! People are dying in the streets and you-"
"Shut up." Delax demanded "Your very loud."
The rider looked offended, and angered.
So angered he charged.
