School Drama Rebo

School Drama Reboot

This is a reboot of the original, which was created by me May 7th, 2015. It goes along the same lines. Rules below.

Rules

This is set in middle school. Most characters will be seventh graders. You can put some characters as sixth or eighth grades but the "default" is seventh.

Please create at least one girl and one guy. They can be relatively throw a way characters whose perspective you only write in ocassionally or only get mentioned, I don't really mind.

Please make characters who are original and interesting. If you have a character who is basically an insert of yourself, I will get irratated. I know you like writing as wonderfully awesome nerds such as ourselves, but real life is not like that. Try and go out of your writerly comfort zone, write as someone your complete opposite!

Groups

In each grade, there are some basic types of groups. There are two versions of each- popular and unpopular, except for the Kind Girls and Kind Boys, who are both only semi popular. You can be in one group, a social butterfly, or a lone wolf.

Girly Girls

Smart Girls

Sportsy Girls

Artsy Girls

Kind Girls

Troublemaking Boys

Smart Boys

Sportsy Boys

Artsy Boys

Kind Boys

Heeey you know about how I was talking about making characters you haven't really experimented with a lot? Uh... I understand if you still want to go where you're comfortable with, but it'd be cool if you had someone who wasn't super smart, since we already have a ton of smart kids, and you seem to write a lot of these. Maybe Kyra has dyslexia or something like that that makes one subject really hard for her but is super smart at other things. To be honest, from what I can tell in my at school experiences, the super smart kids are idolized, envied and bought off into doing other kids' homework, not shunned... I don't know maybe that's just my school. *shrugs*

Well, your school sounds great... but unfortunately, that doesn't happen in public schools (I assume this is a public school that we're pretending to be in)... smart kids are often sorta "semi-unpopular" or smack dab in the middle of the social hierarchy.

BTW, Kyra completely hates the popular girls. You'd never know it, but she harbors a grudge.

Also, the reason I write all of these smart kids is that on the site where I used to RP we were kinda assigned a role, and I swear to all that is holy I never got to be a nerd, I was always athletic and jock-y.

Kyra also harbors depression and a lot of angst. She and Oliver don't have the best life at home...

Sorry if my charrie seemed like another bland "smart" character, I just didn't have time to write the whole sheet out.

Heh, I go to a public school...

Okay, that makes sense. I suppose it's okay, it's just a bit irritating because everyone on this site takes being a smart kid and that's the most fun to RP as. I end up having to, for the sake of the RP, always being an athletic kid or something.

Crush if any: Weeel, maybe a little one on Christoff Lovegood...

Yes. As I said in the rules, you must make at least one girl and boy. Once you have that, you can make more girls, but we need to have at least some guys.

@Joss I personally believe that Megan would fit pretty well into the girly girls popular pretty well, but whatever you think is best. Also, do you think maybe Audrey could be friends with Lana? They don't have to be super close, but I figure since Audrey's both sporty and popular, they'd run into each other some and some sort of acquantinceship would stick.

@Danie and Gared: Both of your characters are really just self inserts. Miley is decently thought out but despite your best efforts, I can tell she's basically you. I know it's hard not to make her basically be you, I do that a lot too... but maybe you could add something else that would make you have to write her differently... like... uh... *scratchs head* I really can't think of anything better, and I already suggested this to Brooke, but maybe you could give her some sort of disability? Some sort of odd quirk? Maybe she has a super weak immune system and misses a ton of school, or likes to cook, or likes listening to classical music, or a couple of quirks like that. I don't know, but I definitely feel like Miley needs more fleshing out.

Uh... and Gared... Gared shares your name and you made him a bit overpowered. That's not really a character, that's you- it's a self insert where you get to be amazing and have an adventure. Honestly, there's so little characterization there that is not taken from Sherlock Holmes or yourself, I suggest you make a new character. Try making someone of a different gender first. Try and think of someone else you know to base them off of, instead of yourself.

My Characters:

Name: Lana (Lah-nah) Colynn (Cah-lin)

Age: 11 (sixth grader)

Appearance: Fair skin that hardly ever burns, but tans very slowly. Dark freckles here and there. Red hair with highlights of strawberry blonde that naturally curls itself into cute little bouncy ringlets.

Personality: She's kind of shy. She likes physical stuff- she loves to run, she has good upper body strength, and although she's pretty afraid of heights and she's a bad swimmer, she loves to challenge herself so she's always joining sports camps, going hiking, or starting a new project. She doesn't pay a ton of attention to her appearance, but is cute in an effortless sort of way that her sister really envies. Kind of tomboyish, but her sister helps her act more feminine.

Crush: She's crushing on Chase pretty majorly. She's super shy about it and really awkward though.

Groups: She's a bit of a social butterfly. Since she's Britt's adorable little sister, she's kind of a pet of the older seventh and eighth girly girls, but as she joins more clubs she also gets mixed in with the sportsy popular girls group.

Friends in other groups if any: See above.

Name: Brittnay "Britt" Colynn (Cah-lin)

Age: 13 (eighth grader)

Appearance: Fair skin that tans slowly but does not burn. No freckles. Rich grayish blue eyes. Thick, glossy black hair that is perfectly straight. Tall and slim, and beautiful in a way that's more stunning than cute. Got most of her appearance from her dad and paternal grandmother, whereas her younger sister got most of her appearance from their mum.

Personality: Mr. and Mrs. Colynn are rather old for parents, and originally did not think they could have kids. When they had Brit they were so delighted they rather spoiled. Add to that that the upper middle class Colynns live rather comfortably, and that explains why Britt is rather spoilt. Britt is pretty up to date on fashion and spends a good deal of time on her appearance and decor and other girly things. She enjoys "shipping" couples and likes helping her friends in girly stuff. She's kind of sweet, a bit spoilt, and pretty bland.

Crush: She's been crushing on Christoff, Mark and Alex for quite some time, and is helping Leo get used to the school as a bit of a charity case and also because thinks he's adorable.

Groups: Popular girly girls, but she's a bit of a social butterfly as well. Besties with Aya, but not as unkind.

Friends in other groups if any: Audrey and Megan.

Name: Alex Swift

Age: 13

Appearance: Black hair that is stylishly messy, gray eyes, lightly tanned skin, lanky in that cute sort of way, braces. Usually wears skinny jeans and a beanie.

Personality: Nerdy in a cute way, kind, funny. The stereotypical cute guy. His dad moved to America from Japan when he was young, and is currently working on a startup that's relatively successful and is growing more successful rather slowly.

Crush: Biiiig crush on Irina. Is super nice to her and is slightly obsessed.

Groups: Popular smart guys. Close with Leo, if that's okay.

Friends in other groups if any: Trying to befriend Trevor.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. Please remember that this is going to be an RP focused on quality not speed. If you want to get a bunch of writing out but don't really care what happens, this RP is not for you. I will not blame you if you leave. If I like your character enough I'll keep it, but other than that you won't be expected to participate.

2. You do not have to post all the time with all of your characters. I would suggest choosing one character to post with most of the time, and post sometimes with the others. For instance, I will be posting mostly with Lana, sometimes with Britt, and occassionally with Alex.

3. Please do not start the RP. I will officially start the RP after there's been more time for everyone who wants to join and everyone to figure out their characters as best as possible.

4. Everyone who I have mentioned or whose characters I have mentioned, please post a reply so I know if you're okay with that idea or have another idea you'd rather do.

Everthing concerning Leo is fine by me :) l'll probably change his personality somewhat because there are already a lot of awkward nerdy kids.

@Indigo:

Yeah, I just reread Kyra's charrie sheet. It's not as fleshed out as I thought, but I didn't have a space for weaknesses and stuff like that. Anyway:

Kyra's strengths: very smart, pretty nice, witty

Weaknesses: terrible home life: her mother is responsible and smart but her father is an alcoholic. They are divorced, and while the mom often looks after Kyra, Kyra is constantly worried about Oliver, who will do something like send her a text that says "please help me, he's yelling", show up with a black eye the next day, and claim that he "hit his head".

This makes Kyra incredibly depressed at home, no matter how her mom tries to help her.

Kyra, while being a starry-eyed idealist who wants to change the world, has become a hardcore realist. She knows that nothing will change until Oliver can move out.
